My husband and I were in Santa Cruz a week ago. We have eaten at Woodstock’s other years. I have celiac, I eat GF. Woodstock’s Pizza has lots of GF choices marked on the menu. The staff know what I mean when I say I have celiac! I had a wings and tater tots! Satisfying Yummy! I have had their GF pizzas before… equally great meal! I highly recommend stopping in for a meal.
Our favorite place to go when in Santa Cruz! My celiac 10 year old always gets the gluten-free pizza and has never gotten sick. The staff is always very patient with my ordering and always reassures me of the precautions they take. The additional staff cruising the restaurant is always fun and kind. The rest of the non-celiac family loves the regular and gf pizza. My husband says it’s his number one favorite pizza place! Lol
The pizza was delicious, but I got the sickest I’ve been in a long time. I won’t be back.
My son was able to have a gluten free pizza, he also has dairy, egg, shellfish, and nut allergy. The waiter was very helpful and showed me labels etc.
I called the restaurant to ask about their GF options and also verified with the staff when placing my order. The staff was very aware of celiac and kind. There are two options for GF crust (GF or cauliflower). When you mention celiac, they have one persmake your meal, change gloves, and get all toppings from the fridge, only touched by the prep chef. The have separate cutting surfaces. Ordered a GF pizza (only option is large) and a arge salad to share. The GF crust was very thin. Many tea, lemonade, and flavored soda options available as fountain drinks. Felt safe eating here, no issues!
The staff here is knowledgeable and they are very careful about cross contamination. They asked me if I have celiac and then explained that they will grab untouched toppings from the back. The pizza was great! There are two crust options: a regular gf crust and a cauliflower one. All the toppings are also clearly marked gf. I felt very safe and had no reaction.
I’m usually pretty nervous trying a pizza place as a celiac and casein allergy person, but I tried Woodstock and had no allergy issues from either gluten or dairy. Staff is really knowledgeable, there are signs posted next to the register that list the pizza crust ingredients and what items contain dairy. I felt safe eating here and the pizza was delicious. Definitely recommend for gluten and dairy free foodies! The vegan cheese is Daiya.
There is a clearly marked menu with gluten free, dairy free, and dairy free items. The person who took our orders was very knowledgeable about celiac and clearly explained cross contamination protocols. When he realized that they couldn’t guarantee celiac friendly with the sauce we ordered, he came and asked us to choose a different sauce since they only had one bin of the other & they touched it to pizza, so there could be cross contamination. He also personally made our wings to make sure they were correct. We felt very safe eating here
I’ve been here a few times. However, I just had this pizza 2 nights ago and the day after my stomach felt sick all day. I wasn’t positive it was the pizza so I used the Nima device on the pizza and sure enough it came back with gluten found. Kind of a bummer cuz the pizza is good. But not worth feeling sick for a whole day. You can also only buy a gluten free pizza in the large size so if you order a pizza it’s not going to be any cheaper than $30. After this, I’m planning on staying away from this restaurant. It’s just not safe with all the possibilities of cross contamination in the kitchen which i’ve proven do exist. I would recommend looking for a different place to fill your needs for gluten free pizza.
They had everything listed in great detail to ensure that dietary restrictions were met and handled as safely as possible— while also providing SO MANY options!
SO MANY OPTIONS! Especially for a pizza place, it was pretty incredible how many gluten free options were available. All items were customizable, and almost everything could be made gluten free (and dairy free!).
Dairy free/ vegan options as well!
Best GF crust Ive ever had, appreciate the GF toppings and that the server asked me, rather than me having to state I was celiac. They take extra care to avoid cross contamination. And over all service was phenomenal. I am only in town visiting, I wish we had one of these close to home.
If you tell them you have celiac, they take extra care to avoid cross contamination. I spoke with the manager who told me that they dedicate a person to the celiac pizza to ensure it’s safe to eat. They change their gloves, use new ingredients from the refrigerator, bake the pizza on a clean baking sheet since they only have one oven, and use a clean pizza cutter. I appreciated his detailed and thorough explanation, and I enjoyed my gluten free pizza very much.
I know people that work here and I know for a fact they do not change gloves for different toppings and they cook the pizzas in the same oven if your are truly celiac this is not the place for you... I hate how many people suggest it too... Delightgf is bull***t if you ask me they suggest businesses that I know are not safe for celiacs because I get sick every time
We love the names of the pies at Woodstock's, which caters to the college crowd in Santa cruz. But even if you graduated long ago, you can appreciate delicious glutenfree pizza like the "all meat orgy" topped with canadian style bacon, sausage, pepperoni, ground beef and salami, certain to bring you back to your collegiate years.
Delicious food, staff were great and very clean atmosphere and restaurant. Loud/noisy but okay to bring a family. Very casual. Yummy pizza and salads!
gluten free is not by the slice but who doesn't want pizza to take home. tree hugger salad is yummy! pizza was fabulous! nice lunch time atmosphere.
A bit pricey but lovely gf pizza! Perfect size to share with a friend!
My first gf pizza! So good. I'm always looking for food I can take home so I don't have to cook every meal, so I didn't mind getting the large. It will probably feed me for two more meals after tonight (slices arent huge). The only "tell" was that the crust was pretty crunchy, but the parts with sauce were nice and soft. I'm driving 90 min for thus pizza whenever I can!
They made me a delicious gluten free pizza, but they could only make a large. I'm a teenager with friends so that wasn't a problem, but for others, it may seem absurd to not be able to make a personal gf pizza. The staff was knowledgeable and understood what gluten free means. Really enjoyed my experience :)
This place is probably not really safe for people with celiac.
First, the good stuff: I ordered wings and specifically asked them to make sure to note on the ticket that it was an allergy, and the wings were delicious! I also had some salad that was really nice. Importantly, I did not get sick at all.
I say it's not safe because:
- GF pizza is handled and cooked in the same oven as regular pizza, and it sounds like they are not great about avoiding cross contact in preparation.
- The server was super nice and happy to explain their process, but definitely did not understand the mechanism of the gluten problem. I was assured that the only likely way gluten would end up on a GF pizza was the toppings, but they found this wasn't an issue "because it cooks off" ⚠
I politely informed them that gluten is a protein and it doesn't work that way, but didn't make an issue of it with management or anything, so I expect this level of lack of knowledge to persist.
I was left feeling fortunate that I didn't get sick, rather than confident that getting sick was unlikely. Celiac and sensitive intolerant folks beware
I try to come here every time I’m in San Diego. It’s the only place I’ve ever found that has large GF pizzas. It’s delicious and they load up on the toppings without the center getting soggy like some places. They also have gf wings and tots which are both good and DF cheese option also. They are knowledgeable and really take extra care!
So impressed. Celiac friendly gluten free pizza and wings! Everything is cooked/ baked in separate pans and no reaction at all. The pizza was so good my bf said It was the best pizza he’s had in the area including regular (not gluten free) pizza. Ranch is gf too and they have gf tots but I did not get to try. Tuesday you can do a 2 for 1 pizza which is awesome. Staff is super knowledgeable and usually I get laughed at when I ask questions about gf items like “of course there’s cross contamination, this is a pizza place” BUT at Woodstock It was the complete opposite and I the cashier laughed and said of course we take all the proper measures to make sure it’s safe from cross contamination. 12/10 on everything will be coming back often.
