Restaurant in Grand Canyon National park.
Menu indicates gluten free options. Pizza was available glutenfree. We checked how the pizza was prepared, to avoid cross contamination risk, as my daughter is celiad. Pizza is made on a different plate, though in the same oven as the other pizza’s. We tried pizzas baked this way, without any problem.
Staff is well aware of celiac requirements.

The menu is clearly marked- however i did have to ask about the sausage, bacon and potatoes - as they didn’t have it marked, but other items with those in it were gluten free. The sausage, bacon and potatoes are gluten free!

I am a bit surprised by the poor reviews from some. We had an absolutely wonderful experience here. I am celiac and very sensitive to gluten. I ordered a pizza and had no issues at all. Some have commented about the price, but you have to understand that it is a tourist area and if you look at the ingredients they use for their sandwiches, you'll understand why they are a bit more expensive. Thank you for a delightful lunch!

My 11 year old with Celiac had the gluten free pizza and immediately had a stomach ache after. We used FMGF to try and locate the best options in the Grand Canyon but he got glutened in multiple places.

Ordered burger and potato salad. Menu says all sides are GF. Potato salad has way too much red pepper for my taste. $20 lunch with soda. Plus a tip. GF buns available for $1.50 more. I skipped the bun.

When we went in August the tavern was open but not the restaurant. I got the gluten free pizza and I felt pretty confident it was safe and I felt fine afterwards. It’s an American style place so if you’re expecting authentic you’ll be disappointed but it’s a good safe option.

The person I talked to didn’t know what celiac meant so I asked for gluten free she also wasn’t sure. The menu has a gluten free pizza option but that was about it. They don’t have a lot of knowledge about the allergy although they have an allergy button when you order your food.

Not marked on the menu, but they have gluten free buns. Also a gluten free pizza, which is on the menu.

We ate at the Tavern since the Lodge dining is still closed. We ordered the gluten free cheese pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. The waiter marked the ticket as gluten allergy and to change gloves. He asked the chef to come out and he was even more helpful. He made her pizza in the kitchen space not being used and handled it personally. The chef brought out her pizza. It has been 20 hours and she did not have any reactions. She is celiac and will be sick within a few hours from CC.

We ate here twice. Salads are unexpectedly good, avoid fried things like the tortilla chips on the SW salad. Chili is good but not a huge portion. They offer gf 8” pizzas ans supervisor was knowledgeable and nice. Note that the tavern menu is smaller than the dining hall menu, and dining hall is not operating as of June 2021.

We ate at the Yavapai Tavern, which is currently operating. The staff was knowledgeable and helped me figure out what I could eat from the menu. I had an elk burger without the bun and a slaw of cucumber, Brussels sprouts, kale, and apple in a champagne vinaigrette.

Had the nachos. Celiac friendly. Currently, a hotel in the Grand Canyon is being sued for exposing a celiac to gluten at one of their restaurants (not this one). SO, they were extra careful with my order and had both the manager and chef come out to talk to me and reassure me they had changed gloves, etc. They made sure to take care of me. :)
Yes
The French Toast is made with gluten free bread but the same egg mixture is used for both regular and GF. I watched the process so don’t let them tell you otherwise. It is all fried on the same flattop so do not order this if you are Celiac/sensitive
Foods marked gluten free are not prepped in a separate area. Pancakes were marked GF on the menu but server said they were cooked on the same griddle as regular pancakes. Also not many options for vegetarians.
Do yourself a favor and bring your food from home.
No
Good food, only gave 4 stars because they seemed rushed and not completely sure about their options. Not a lot listed as gluten free, but they said more actually was gluten free. I got the tamales and did not get sick, but I was nervous.
Cafeteria style restaurant. Probably best GF option if you're visiting the Grand Canyon South Rim. Server was not knowledgeable but kitchen was. Did not get sick.
Yes
Gluten free bread for all of their hot and cold sandwiches—burgers included. I had the salad with chicken which was gluten free. You order at kiosks and the staff was helpful with telling us how to input our allergies. They did toast the gf bread and my celiac son did great with it.
Yes
The Yavapai lodge tavern has gluten free things easily marked and ordered on the menu, bread, French toast, buns for burgers, pleasantly surprised!
They didn't have the gluten free items listed on the menu, so I asked and they had a wonderful list of gluten free items. I ended up getting the pancakes, and they were delicious. I was asking when I picked them up if they were gluten free (because I always want to make sure), and the gentleman who took our order was already there making sure. That was service above and beyond in my book!
They know about gluten. Tell them right after you order and the cashier will ensure the meal is GF. Had a good turkey sandwich on GF bread with chipotle spread. Salad bar. GF and vegan chili and hamburgers on GF buns are also available. Plenty of options including a large kid's menu. My family of 4 ate lunch for $32. We will go back.
Yes
They have incredible gluten free pancakes for breakfast. The kitchen staff is very accommodating of celiacs. They are aware of cross contamination and make sure to prepare food in a separate cleaned area from the rest of the food. I would eat there again with zero worries of getting glutened.

This restaurant has the most gluten-free options for the best price that I've found in Grand Canyon National Park!! Almost ALL of their entrées are gluten-free!! I ordered a burger and they gave me a GF bun. I also ordered a baked potato that comes plain and then you add your toppings at the salad bar. All entrées come with non-GF cornbread, but they can leave that off. They all come with a side AND a side salad. I had plenty of food, and we paid around $35 TOTAL for our family of four. You order at a kiosk, but there are people there to help you make your selections. When you place your order, give your receipt to one of these people, and they will take it directly to the kitchen and inform them about your gluten free needs. The kitchen will be sure to change their gloves before handling your food. The quality of my food was pretty good, too!! I was very pleased and felt like they really understood my needs. Yay!!
