I went here over the weekend and was so impressed. I made my order with what I thought was gluten free and informed the girl taking orders i had an allergy. Minutes later a manager arrived at my table to ensure everything was safe for me and had some concerns about cross contamination with what I had ordered. She recommended other tacos that would be safe for me and changed the order. She returned when my ordered came out to ensure me everything had been cleaned and should be safe for me to eat. It was also extremely busy at the time so I’m very grateful for the time taken to make sure I was safe.
Informed staff with an allergen menu that they’ll show you if you ask. I get a build your own salad bowl with steak and they always add a note that it’s for an allergy.

I really liked this place. It was a bit pricey for tacos but everything tasted fresh and the tacos were good. I got salt and pepper chicken tacos and black beans. The regular chicken is marinated in soy sauce. If you also have issues with milk stay away from the guac. The person that helped me was very knowledgeable and they let me know that the team would change their gloves. I did not watch the kitchen at all but I did not get sick. I would go again.
They have a list of everything on the menu that contains gluten they can read to you, it’s pretty short. Mainly flour tortillas, mac and cheese, fried fish, etc. I got the veggie bowl with some additional toppings. They said the chips are fried in a separate frier so they should be GF, but ask to confirm. Food was good with a pretty large portion size
Taco Mama Gulf Breeze provides the same delicious food and gluten free options as the other locations in Alabama. They have a dedicated chip and corn taco shell fryer, so chips and hard shell tacos are safe, as well as all of their salsas, meats, and toppings.

Have eaten here several times and have never gotten sick! The tortilla chips are gluten free and the nachos are fantastic!
My fave place in town and the one I go to the most when we want to eat out. They have a gluten free list and will change gloves if you tell them you have a gluten allergy. Food is great and service is quick.
Oh my goodness!!! I told them I had to eat GF and they handed me a post it sized piece of paper and said “these are the only things that have gluten” . The salsa was some of the best I have ever had. Tacos delicious, guacamole great, Mexican street corn delicious and staff was so helpful and friendly. I HIGHLY recommend for a casual meal.

They Gave corn tortillas! The cashier told me all of the meat options except the chicken are gluten-free (sounded like the chicken may be beer-battered). When I told him I have a gluten allergy, he told me he’d take care of everything for me and wrote a note in my order so the cooks would take proper procedures for my food! Great experience. Got barbacoa tacos and they were great.
They have a little card that lays out the gluten free options (corn tortillas, the gf meats and sides, etc)

Manager was awesome and honest about potential of cross contamination with chips and hard shells. Recommended soft corn tortillas for beef tacos and the rice. No signs of gluten exposure following meal!
The chicken is NOT gluten free, but every other meat is. Make sure you tell them you have celiac! In Gardendale specifically- they know what it is! When I tell them, I don’t get sick. I always order the nachos with ground beef and almost everything on it. I don’t ask for anything grilled just because I want as little to touch the grill as possible!
They are very knowledgeable. You can only get a bowl if your are cross contamination sensitive. Been a 3 times and never been sick and able to change it up each time
The cashier at Taco Mama was SO knowledgeable. I guess I had looked at the GF menu of a different Taco Mama so I said I had celiac and wanted the Nachos and she immediately corrected me and said that this restaurant is the only one in the chain that has a shared fryer so the chips are not gluten free. I ordered the chicken tacos and she made sure I got the chicken NOT cooked in beer. When she put in the order she said “ok let me go tell everyone to change their gloves” without me asking her to. So sweet! I have very sensitive celiac and didn’t have an issue.
Went here and they are gluten friendly. They are not, however, dairy free friendly. So if you are like me and have trouble with gluten and dairy I do not recommend this place. The chicken, ground beef, retired beans, and guac all have dairy in them.
Just spoke to the manager, who also has celiac disease. She told me that the chips and the taco shells are gluten-free and are fried in a dedicated fryer. She also told me that everything is safe, except for the chicken, which is cooked with beer. She is very knowledgeable.
The manager was super knowledgeable about celiac and most of their menu is gluten free. They change gloves and are trained to avoid cross contact.
This is my easy go to! I get the bowl or the nachos (pro tip: share the nachos with someone…they are MASSIVE)

Great food! It’s more of a fast casual place, where you go up to order your food and they will bring it out to you. Staff is very knowledgeable as to which items and meats are not gluten free. Taco Mama has a super good variety of tacos that are gluten free, with both soft/ hard corn tacos. Their chips are safe to eat. They had an allergen menu at the counter. They were super knowledgeable about changing gloves/ cross contamination.
Chips are corn but not fried in a separate fryer. They mark allergies on the ticket when you order and ensure staff changes gloves/takes precautions. Never had an issue at this location or others! Was told chicken wasn’t gf because of the way it is seasoned.

My husband and I eat here frequently. It has never made us sick from gluten. We order the bowl and add our favorite ingredients.
I love Taco Mama! They have an allergen menu online and are aware of celiac. I asked about their child and those are done in a separate fryer. Definitely recommend
Went here excited but left disappointed. Ordered a side of taco meat to test with my Nima sensor and it returned positive for gluten even though their menu says it’s gluten free. They offered me a coupon to come back…even though I can’t eat the food. Only tried it that one time but use caution if you’re celiac.
Ordered online, nachos with barbacoa, queso and everything that sounded good on top. Not the best, but not the worst. Fast food-esque not the highest quality ingredients. But, they were quick, friendly and I didn’t get sick!

Spoke to the manager about gluten free options and had beef tacos with hard corn shell (fried with corn chips and nothing else), chips, and queso! They were super willing to change gloves and keep my food from cross contact and knew how all their food was prepped. Lots of options for safe gluten free food (chicken is beer battered and not safe FYI) and experienced no symptoms after :) Will definitely return often!
Saw the five stars on one review and decided to try it. The tacos and the queso were very good. Nachos are also gluten-free. The employees totally understood about gluten-free. I did not get sick.
I had a great experience here, one of the employees was really helpful in explaining the prep used. I ended up with the soft tacos - which are heated on the grill and not fried. Everything was delish!! The items containing gluten are marked on a separate allergens list which they have at the counter.
Everything is gluten free except the chicken, frozen margaritas (they have beer in them) and flour tortillas! The nachos, chips, tacos are all gluten free and they are all yummy! I love that you can get queso or guacamole as a side. They have several kinds of margaritas and they are very good; but, stick with the ones on the rocks. I am pretty sensitive and eat at Taco Mama regularly with no problems.
Perfect place for a yummy GF meal! Loud fun atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and a clearly marked GF/allergen menu. Definitely recommend!
Came here after having good experiences at other taco mama locations. Waiter not knowledgeable (and admitted so). Got a build you own salad with steak and don’t think I reacted but was nervous.
Two celiacs in our home and they made ordering difficult even though they said it in a friendly way. They refused to clean a spot on the grill to heat up my corn tortillas. My younger daughters burrito was made wrong, my oldest daughter- the other celiac in our home- was given flour tortillas for her tacos due to laziness and disregard. The manager acted pike it wasn't a big deal and refused to do anything but stand there instead of fix the issue. She was ignorant and a pain in the ass since she learned of the differences in our food prep needs.

I always get a bowl. I’ve only gotten sick like once, the staff is knowledgeable if you tell them gluten allergy. Just dont get chips (shared fryer) or chicken (marinated in beer).
DO NOT - I repeat - DO NOT eat here if you are celiac or gluten intolerant. They talk a big talk, but my husband has been CC twice here. Because they have such high safety reviews we thought the first time he was “hit” was a fluke & decided to give them another shot. Horrible idea. (I hope my review brings the rating down so no one else gets “hit”) Upon arrival, we alerted management, asked specifically that one person prepare his food and PLEASE change gloves & clean prep station. IDK what of that ask was ignored - IF ANY….. it could be that the food “toppings” are crossed. At any rate, we will not be going back.
