Quaint place with good service. Their motto is “be nice”. We went for breakfast. GF items marked on the menu. Variety of egg dishes, meats, grits. No GF pancakes. GF toast. The lunch options said free lettuce wraps for the sandwiches/burgers. No mention on the menu about GF buns but since they have GF bread maybe that’s an option. Since I wasn’t there for lunch, I didn’t ask. I had their veggie scramble with grits. Certainly filling though it needed more seasoning.
Great experience, good food. No complaints
I ordered the spinach avocado omelet with a side of bacon and grits with no biscuit and our server, Mariah R was amazing. She was aware of my allergy and made sure it was noted and told the cook in the back and gloves were changed. I had no sort of reaction or sickness and usually immediately if I have any sort of contamination I get sick AND that did NOT happen. We will definitely go back. The menu showed the gluten free items and they were aware of the GF allergy and made sure we were taken care of! Mariah was amazing !!
I had a wonderful experience here. The waitress was very knowledgeable about Gluten free options. GF items were marked on the menu. They had a GF bread option as well to replace the biscuit for your order. I had the Piedmont Omelette with grits and GF Toast along with a Mimosa flight. The juices that they use for the flight are GF as well.
The most delicious grits! Server was knowledgeable and helpful. They were slammed and she still took the time to dip apple butter from a new jar for me. Each order comes with a complimentary biscuit and unfortunately I got toasted Udis sandwich bread. It was safe and toasted separately from everything else.
The kitchen is absolutely not safe for anyone with celiac disease. All items that are designated as "gluten friendly" are highly subject to cross-contamination through various processes. Even if the items manage to somehow not get gluten in them, the plates themselves are often dusted with fresh biscuit crumbs, as the biscuits sit above the plates in the kitchen. On top of that, no employee is trained on how to serve food that is safe for anyone with allergies or intolerances, so there is really no way that an employee could help keep a customer safe even if they wanted to, as that employee wouldn't have the knowledge needed to make that possible.
Ate there today and had the southern scramble with grits and GF toast. No issues and excellent food. I took the biscuit home to my husband :)
They do not have specifically a gluten free menu, just the traditional don't eat the bread or anything that goes in the deep fryer. Pretty much the same situation that Celiac's have always dealt with. The food is average, standard breakfast fare and nothing over the top. Although the service was very friendly, being knowledgeable of gluten and cross contamination was not part of her skill set. I placed my order sans biscuit and explained the importance due to celiac disease. My breakfast was served with a huge biscuit in the middle. When I said I was sorry but could not accept it, their solution was to take the biscuit off leaving behind a fair amount of crumbs and a good deal of cross contamination. In addition to this the entire place was in need of a good cleaning. Pictures on the walls and all around the door jams and ceiling fans there was a layer of grease and dust growing and falling.
It was horrible. I have celiac disease and tried their gluten free pancakes, they were disgusting. Do not recommend at all.
Love this place! My daughter with Celiac Disease has eaten here safely on many occasions.
The menu (in person) says gluten friendly, but i asked for gluten free and that was accommodated. I have not had a reaction and the food was delicious. We also had great service. Would highly recommend if you are close to the hospital and/or prince avenue.
No gluten-free items. Very misleading as menu: they use “GF” next to many items but it stands for “gluten-friendly”— meaning if you eliminate the buscuit or bread item (and there’s no substitution offered ) although this is common used to indicate gluten free on most menus.
i worked here as a server for 5 months, they train their servers well in what is gluten free and what is not…. but they have 2 large grills in the back that they cook everything on, pancakes, bread, eggs, meat, etc. so you have to stress the gluten allergy and see if they have a separate pan to cook your food on to prevent cross contamination. i highly recommend the açaí bowl, but double check that the brand of granola is gluten free. they do not have any gluten free bread, biscuits, pancakes so you have to stick to the basics.
Although there were only a few items on the menu that were marked as gluten free, the waiter was knowledgeable about cross contamination. I swapped my biscuit for gluten free toast, which is toasted in a separate toaster.
Everything is great here, the manager even came out to assure me that all my food was taken care of and walked me through the process of how it was prepared. I have never gotten sick here and have enjoyed the grits, piedmont omelette, side of bacon sausage, mimosas, and even gf toast in a dedicated toaster! Delicious!
GF items are marked as such on the menu. They do not offer any alternatives to biscuit or toast. I wish they at least had GF bread available. “Moon dust” potatoes labeled as GF in one place on menu and not GF in another place. Unremarkable experience
No gluten free biscuit or bread substitutions available, even though the Google menu listing indicates otherwise. The Chorizo hash was really tasty, enjoyed it with no problems later.
I had the very berry salad with chicken, and it was good! I ordered the salad because I thought it was the least likely to be cross contacted. I did have to send it back because they put walnuts on it, and I have a walnut allergy, so I wouldn't say that their allergy precautions are very strong. I didn't sit inside because I usually get a headache from airborne gluten. I think it is possible to eat safely here, but I would be cautious.
They have good food I’m just not super confident that it is safe for people with celiacs. I’ve eaten there a couple times and I’ve never had extreme reactions but my stomach tends to feel a little off. Could be something else and not related but I would be cautious when eating here.
No gfree menu as advertised. Obviously eggs are gfree but no plan to limit cross contamination. We left. Needs to be dropped from this site.
While the menu does include gluten free options and is clearly marked, the staff, including the manager know VERY LITTLE about celiac disease or even allergies. I ordered one of the GF menu items and stated that I had a “gluten allergy” (I have celiac). My meal was brought with a biscuit on my plate. I told them I had an allergy and my meal would have to be remade. The manager came back not a minute later with my meal. I told him, I have an allergy and simply removing the biscuit that was touching the rest of my meal was not enough. Not 2 minutes later I’m brought half of my meal on one plate (same color as it was the first time with the biscuit) and the other half on another plate. Let’s just say my stomach is already letting me know I did not receive a fully remade meal. Steer clear, I’d give zero stars if it were an option.
You must pay for a biscuit, even though you can’t eat it, because they will not allow you to sub the biscuit. The server suggested I try the toast instead...so, clearly the staff isn’t trained well. My plate came out with the biscuit on my omelette. I sent it back and they brought me a “new” plate within a minute saying someone else had ordered the same meal but it didn’t have a biscuit on it yet...except I could see where the biscuit used to be and there was a big chunk of biscuit in my grits. Will not be returning.
Several good options. Grits bowl, omelets, etc. just wish they had a GF biscuit!
I would not say it’s celiac friendly if you are super sensitive. I started feeling sick just sitting in the restaurant. There is flour in the air! Also the staff were not super sure they could fix any food safely. They were like we can try but if you get sick off gluten it’s a risk. I ended up leaving before eating. I appreciate their honesty though.
Everything that is gluten free on the menu is marked. Knowledgeable staff. I love this place!
Yuck. This place is dirty and not celiac friendly
Several gf breakfast selections. Most dishes come with a biscuit, even if marked gf - make sure to tell them to leave it off or it will be on your plate.
Food is good. Husband loved the non gf pancakes. Some interesting breakfast options you won’t see elsewhere.
Lots of GF marked options on their menu. Basic breakfast restaurant menu with good quality and service
Long wait but well worth it. A great gluten free breakfast selection. Will definitely be back when we come to Atlanta again.
I would avoid this place especially if you have celiac. The server was not knowledgeable at all and told us the açaí bowl was GF but it had granola on it that had wheat in it. She literally rolled her eyes at me when I told her I had a gluten allergy and was super rude to me and my whole party. Also found hairs in my napkin and in my food. This place is gross.
