They have a separate fryer for the traditional wings. They cooked my fries in it as well with request. I got BBQ and buffalo sauce with ranch because they are listed as gluten free. You can also request glove and utensils change but that just depends on who is working if they oblige.

I’ve been eating Zaxby’s salads with grilled chicken “hold the Texas toast and fried onion ring bits” for years (the only thing I found on the menu to eat) and don’t remember having a problem. However yesterday when my husband picked up our order the server told him the chicken is NOT GF! It is marinated in something that includes gluten. So he put the chicken in a separate container for our pickup order. Thank you! I get a Cobb salad and now won’t have chicken on it.

The wings with buffalo garlic sauce were not gluten free. Checked them with nima capsules and the result was gluten found and the capsule had the third line very dark so it was not just cross contamination.

I go here a lot for the traditional buffalo wings meal with tongue torch, no toast and don't have problems.

While at a doctor’s appointment, a provider suggested Zaxby’s as a safe place to eat, saying her daughter with Celiacs has found it a good experience. I went today after a long work day and asked if they had gf buns (I knew they didn’t but figured I’d ask just in case) and when I was told they didn’t, asked for a grilled chicken sandwich but with no bun. I got my food and saw I was given my chicken on toast. I went inside (from drive thru originally) and asked for them to remake it, apologizing that I hadn’t been clear about a gluten sensitivity and that I was unable to eat bread and couldn’t even risk cross contamination, otherwise I would have just taken it apart myself. The cashier took it to them back and came back within seconds with the same box and supposedly new chicken. It looked as if they had just taken the bread off and handed it over instead of remaking it, but I was too tired to argue and just took it home.
This one is on me, but I had issues where I don’t fully believe things even if I’ve seen them- so I made myself believe that I was maybe jumping to conclusions and assuming too much and ate the food anyway, hoping for the best. I had been feeling good lately, after stopping the gluten challenge and resuming a gf diet. I am now starting to feel ill again, nausea and crampy pain and bloating to begin with.
Even if I give them the benefit of the doubt and my chicken was remade, I didn’t feel listened to, nor did I feel safe or comfortable with the treatment I was given, so don’t recommend this place if you’re very sensitive/unsure.

Beware of the Cobb salad or anything else on the menu with frenchs fried onions in it. Apparently the staff at this location didn't know or didn't realize that the fried onions are breaded with wheat flour

Traditional wings are pretty much the only GF items on their menu.

I knew a previous manager here and I have ordered here. The safe things here are their grilled chicken and grilled chicken salad and some dressings. You can see the ingredients in their website to find a safe dressing/sauce. They do not have a dedicated GF workspace so there's risk of cross contamination. There is NOT a dedicated GF fryer, so fried are cross contaminated. I have ordered a salad here before and they put bread on it when I told them not to.

Unfortunately so people in the reviews do not understand cross contamination. Picking off croutons still contaminated food. Nothing to order but slushees and burgers with no bun.

Due to COVID zaxbys is not accommodating gf fried chicken options. They do not have a separate fryer. It is what it is.

I don't know why some of these people reviews insist there is nothing available. The real chicken wings have a dedicated fryer and are gluten free. The french fries also have a separate fryer. They have also got grilled or blackened chicken that are gluten free which you could get bunless or on a salad hold the toast hold the fried onions. Not perfect but much more choices that most fast food companys. They have an allergy menu but it doesn't break down all the I ingredients so a salad that comes with toast and fried onions says it contains wheat. But corporate can give you better information.
Way to much cross contamination I don't suggest going here if you have celiacs
No
Not sure why the poster with celiac said they love their wings and torch sauce both of which come with a gluten/wheat warning. Nothing safe here except plain salad.
No
This is one of the few Zaxby’s that you can order the chicken finger plate with grilled chicken. My favorite is this combo with their awesome chips and Tongue Torch sauce on the side to dip the chicken in. Been eating this or their wings for many months with no issues.
I love it the grilled chicken salad is so good and the Caesar grilled chicken salad is good too
They have a dedicated fryer and cook station for Gluten Free. Call in advance to make sure the GF fryer isnt refining. But amazing service, and manager was very knowledgeable!
Yes
Per corporate, nothing on their menu is celiac safe! Not the wings, grill chicken or salad.
No
We went to the one in Osage Beach, MO and had a great experience. I had already called to talk to the Manager to make sure it was safe. You just tell the cashier that it needs to be Gluten free. Our daughter has Celiac so she could still get a kids meal with chicken tenders (non breaded) that they put in dedicated GF deep fryer. They also put the fries in the same dedicated fryer. The kids meals usually come with a Goldfish brand type cookie and they were educated enough to know not to put one in her kiddie bag which was amazing. The cashier tells the cook it all needs to be gluten free, they change gloves and use the dedicated GF fryer for all of her stuff. She loved it and we went back 2 days in a row in our vacation since we knew it was safe! No issues with cross contamination and she didn't get sick.
Yes
Traditional wings and fries are GF. As well as many of their sauces. Have good GF salad options (w/o toast or croutons).
Dedicated gluten free fryer! Takes longer to make but very satisfying ordering fried chicken not available at most other places.
Yes
Any of the grilled chicken salads without the toast (& fried onion if it’s on there) are safe. I have eaten here several times and haven’t gotten sick.
EAT. A. SALAD. TAKE OFF THE CRUTONS!
Yes
Talked to the manager about gluten free as I have celiac and she explained they have a separate fryer/area of the kitchen and she personally made my chicken & fries separately than the rest. Great food and I didn't get sick (I get sick from the slightest bit of cross contamination.)
Yes
Was so happy when I saw the other review about gluten free chicken strips. They have them with a dedicated fryer for them and the fries. The woman at the counter even made sure they changed gloves in the back. So happy they had them and hope they do again when I come back next year for vacation.
So, I have eaten at Zaxby’s a number of times, and unfortunately get about the same thing every time....BBQ Traditional wings. These are safe as long as you make sure they are fresh (will take about 10-15 minutes), and they use a clean bowl when coating their wings. Fresh wings are cooked in their own fryer; however, if you do not tell them, they will reheat pre-made wings in the same fryers that they do all their breaded foods. I have not yet visited a Zaxby’s that was not accommodating.
Osage Beach Zaxby’s has a dedicated fryer for gluten free chicken strips and French fries! Many sauces are also safe. Great service!
Yes
When I used to eat there, I thought it was great! Now that I have celiac, I'm not sure what I can eat from there.
good food love the wings with tongue torch
No
This zaxbys is always willing to fry my naked fingers or chicken wings in fresh oil. They are so kind and I will choose them over canes or laynes any day
Zaxby’s has great GF wings with a ton of GF sauces and sides. Fries are also GF!
Nice people but cross contaminated every time
the only thing I can eat here is cole slaw. their online allergen list is a huge PDF download. it appears even their grilled chicken and salads have wheat ingredients.
No
Staff was not knowledgeable and refused the fries. I was ashamed of my Celiac Disease when I left there.
I have not been able to find anything that I can eat at Zaxby's that is not contaminated in some way. Tried eating there twice... I feel awful afterward.
No
Only GF food is a Caesar salad without Caesar chicken or toast or 1 type of wings. Basically just got lettuce with a sparse amount of cheese and mayonnaise. Did not get sick but I do not recommend Zaxbys for gluten free eaters.
I ordered the cobb salad with grilled chicken and no cheese or french fried onions.
Yes
Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating with my gluten sensitivity! Very kind. Food is not great, but not bad.
All their wings are gluten free!!!
crinkle fries, traditional wing meal no sauce, side salad, some grilled chicken salad, grilled chicken sandwich meal (No bun) (No croutons) are good options
Yes
Literally the only place in Elkin that is gluten free on the app lol. I stopped by and got a grilled chicken caesar salad, no crutons. Talked to the manager and she had no problem with changing gloves before making my food. She actually made my food herself. Everyone was extremely nice. I have Celiac and I didn't get sick.
Very misleading to say gluten free. I have been diagnosed with celiac and it's very difficult if not impossible to find a place that's actually gluten free. if something is cooked on the same surface or in the same oil, pan, or even the same area it can be contaminated and be just as bad. if you read their list it has nothing that is completely gluten free. it was either contaminated at the restaurant or at the factor somewhere. the only thing that's 100 percent gluten free is the side salad
No
Download the allergy menu it's a pdf that takes out the guess work!
Ask for Allergen List. I ask if fries could be fried separately and the manager made it happen! I had a grilled chicken sandwich without the bun and crinkle fries. My favorite find was that their famous Zax sauce is also gf. Good for a quick, cheap gluten free meal!
No stars, if I could. A gluten disaster. No designated fryer for fries. Wings are your best option, but wouldn't trust it for cross contamination with breaded chicken.
No
Was sick for 3 days. Terrible!
No
They have good selections of grilled chicken salads for eating gf! Just ask for no croutons and no toast.
Yes
I get the House Zalad with grilled chicken and no fried onions and bread with Ranch dressing = no issue. I also poured tongue torch sauce over the chicken. I never tested positive for celiac but get sick off gluten.
