I keep wanting to like this spot due to celiac friendliness, but each time I'm disappointed. Customer service is a complete after thought. Ambiance always feels harsh and cold.
What an absolutely amazing spot. Multiple allergens are clear on the menu and our waitress had a list of ingredients for every item on the menu. Beyond being safe, the food is delightful. We were able to enjoy full meals for a party of vegans, vegetarians, celiac, and egg allergies.
The beverages are NOT entirely gluten free. After settling in and feeling safe, this was a bit stressful because they are not indicated which are safe. Ask questions!
I remember coming to this place in 2017 under a different name. 100% dedicated GF. Fish & chips back then was incredible!! Fast forward to today, 11-23-24. Different name , same great service, most food options, & some new things to discover. Still 100% GF kitchen. Today I had the BLT & FC with French fries. FC stands for fried chicken!!!!! Oh my goodness!!!! What a wonderful treat!!!! Crispy chicken, flavor was great!!! Fries were lovely!!! My husband has the chicken suflaki, written up as chicken thigh meat on a stick with a lovely Greek salad. His meal had the problem. It was GF, so that was fine. But the kitchen decided to switch the thighs out for breast meat. He could tell immediately. Dry, not much flavor. Told the server. Made the kitchen aware. Kitchen confirmed the switch... without telling the wait staff. They were kind enough to remove the dish from our bill. We then ordered the Apricot orange cake. That was a bit dry but so full of flavor!!! Our service was incredible. Made sure all was right at our table!!! In all.... Go try this place!!!! Parking is a challenge on a Saturday night. But a lovely walk in Seattle...well worth it.
UPDATE! After making a mistake and ordering what I believed was a gf beer, I contacted the management with suggestions about how the menu could be better labeled, and how service could be better trained to protect our celiac brethren. Today I received a thorough and heartfelt email back really listening to my suggestions and letting me know that they plan to implement some of the changes I recommended. These folks are top notch. The food the wonderful, the service is stellar and d they really care about the GF community. Thank you, Ton and company!
Do be aware that there are non-GF beverages on the menu, but the kitchen is 100% GF.
OMGosh. What a delightful restaurant where everything is gluten-free and all other allergens are clearly labeled. I had the fish and chips thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The atmosphere is fun and the servers are knowledgable and friendly. Would definitely return on my next visit to Seattle.
Went here for a nicer meal and was really impressed by the food.
We go the steak and short rib for dinner and cookie for dessert. All were fantastic!
There is a bar downstairs which is more casual but the upstairs is a bit more cozy and upscale. Overall great date night place with friendly staff.
Best best best food and ambience ever. Omg the food was to die for. My non-gf friends enjoyed it too. We shared 4 different plates and they were ALL delicious. The baguette was just like the non gf one. The desserts were also absolutely incredible. The flavours would come up at different moments and you could taste the ingredients one by one. Service was outstanding and the fact that it is a gf facility makes the experience very pleasant and stress free for those of us with celiac disease
Amazing food, all gluten free! Service was excellent and our meals came super quickly! Highly recommend!
UPDATE: new name & menu. We’ve been here once since it changed over and I was pleasantly surprised. A little tricky to order for my other food sensitivities—egg, dairy, and onions.
ORIGINAL POST for Capital Cider: I really really want to like this place but the food is heavy, can be oddly spiced + is over priced. I usually get the fish and chips because they are consistently decent.
What a little gem. A complete GF facility. Order what you want!! We started with the bread and olive oil. Yummy, crusty bread. I had the braised ribs and hubs had the spaghetti. Both were delish. We shared a hazelnut cake that was good although a little dry. That seems to be a signature for gf cake unfortunately. Dishes are paired with the wine list. They have a variety of ciders on the menu and a full bar.
Made reservations as it was very busy the first time we went last year but they weren’t necessary this time as it wasn’t as busy . Absolutely loved the food . Bartender accidentally forgot to put my roasted cauliflower in and took some drinks off the check to make up for it .
One of the best meals we have had in a while. The calamari was good with bit of spice and both my husband and I were surprised by how good the eggplant dip was, it was the favorite. My husband did the fried chicken sandwich and enjoy it even with it being GF. I had the lamb burger special, great flavor. So excited to have found this GF dedicated restaurant with amazing food!
I really wanted to like this place, but was ultimately disappointed. The special started I got was great, but then the beef I ordered as my main was so tough that I could barely chew through three pieces of it before I gave up. Thankfully the server understood and comped me, but I left hungry and disappointed.
Safety wise it is fine of course, but the place was loud and we waited a long time for our food. I had a burger and the bun was burned, and the meat was burned on the outside and rare on the inside despite asking for medium cooked. The beer menu appear to also contain non-gluten free beer.
Favorite restaurant I’ve been to in my ten years since being diagnosed with celiac! What a lovely experience that all my non gf friends could enjoy as well. FRIED CHEESE CURDS!! They were so delicious. Their entire menu, including the drinks are gluten free so I got to try mead and cute cocktails! Delicious! Would 100% go back.
Everyone in our group of 12 loved their meals except for my two friends who ordered the flatbread, so I’d stay away from that just for taste reasons.
Absolutely fabulous meal! Ordered the eggplant appetizer and husband ordered the fried cheese curds. We could have made a meal of just those items! Had the spaghetti with mussels and shrimp. Could not finish it— but boy the toasted baguette slices— two oversized, salted pieces, were a perfect addition. I have celiac and so appreciated every aspect of this place.
I had a great experience here dining solo at the bar. The server gave me tastes of a few ciders and recommended the crab cakes over the spaghetti. No regrets! The crab cakes are dope. I loved being able to order literally anything on the menu and not have to wonder whether I’m gonna spend the next day in pain.
