Lovely awareness of celiac and gluten-free needs at this spot. They served my turkey burger on nicely toasted Udis, on a black plate to ensure it wasn't mixed up with any other gluten containing entree. Healthy sized burger, and a side salad of greens organically grown by the restaurant. Although it isn't a dedicated facility, they take celiac seriously, and the hostess, the server, and the chef knew exactly what I meant when I said I have celiac.
I'll start by saying they were Celiac Friendly and I would have no real reservations about eating here if that was the only consideration. However, our trip was not the best. They had no mozzarella cheese for their appetizer, they stated that the gf pizza would be too big of a risk for contamination (I appreciate their honesty, I just had a bummed out 7 year old), the burgers were good but nothing extraordinary. Other family members had the regular pizza and said it was delicious. We left here feeling underwhelmed.
Fantastic food, lots of options, and great atmosphere! They took my Celiac allergy seriously and we're very accommodating. Separate GF menu and the back has all the bread, pizza crust and GF items they use including the ingredients. For thr most part they used Udi's brand. They even had 2 GF desserts to choose from. We didn't try them as the serving size was pretty good for the items we got. Definitely recommend!
They immediately asked if we needed a GF menu upon asking how many were in our party. Server was knowledgeable & I felt very safe eating. I ordered the Popeye but with red sauce instead of just olive oil. It was fantastic!!! I didn’t deduct a star for it because the pizza was so great, but I will say the chocolate lava cake was tiny and not even close to “lava” (solid all the way through). You got twice as much ice cream as cake. I was glad I wasn’t the one paying for it.
I am celiac and ate here for lunch. I had the “gotta have it” burger and it was delicious. So flavorful and I did not feel sick afterwards. As stated in another review, they have a separate gf menu with a good selection, and gf meals come out on a different color plate.
Very good experience. The staff was familiar with Celiac and took all necessary precautions. As soon as they found out my wife has celiac they reassured her everything would be ok. Good selection of GF on the menu. My wife had a burger and my Daughter had the pizza. Definitely 5 stars and celiac friendly.
came here for lunch. the sandwich station is separate. they use udi brand hoagie rolls. they warned us that gf pizza is cooked in the same oven as the non gf pizza delicious food. separate gf menu that looks identical to the standard menu. many choices. found this while on vacation.
Delicious food for everyone in my party both gluten free and non gluten free. My children enjoyed the gf pizza and said how good it was. They offer a gf menu and our food did come on black plates. We liked it so much we came back another night just for the pizza.
My boyfriend and I both had salads which we thought were excellent (harvest quinoa and frisco turkey Cobb). My sandwich did not come out correctly the first time but was corrected quickly. Hostess was knowledgeable about gf as was waitress, and both were very friendly. We were told up front that pasta would take extra time as it is cooked separately and by order. Overall nice meal and atmosphere.
Flexible, kid-friendly, gf menu AND willing to make changes for a kid. Reminds me of asit-down version of Panera but better. Located in a strip mall like several other places we are here, but very pleasant. Not fancy...if that's what you are looking for, this isn't it, but everyone enjoyed their meals here
Huge GF menu! It's unbelievable! Most extensive menu I've ever seen in a non-gluten free restaurant. They even include the prices , so you don't have to guess at what you're paying. The food was delicious and service was 5 star. Way to go Baker's Crust. You have set the bar high!
Woo hoo! A real menu, with real food choices! I got the pizza of course and it was almost as amazing as my own! For those who are not gluten free or celiac, my husband had a burger and proclaimed it the best he had ever had! He would know, he eats a lot of meat!
Best burger I have ever had! The bun is made by Udi's (which is so far my favorite GF brand because it also caters to other allergies and tastes great)! While on vacation, I probably ate here at least three or four times and didn't feel sick. I would highly recommend this place to both GF and non-GF customers! (:
Excellent place for gluten free. I am very sensitive but I never had an issue. Gluten free Pizza is best I ever had in Hampton Roads. You can even order gluten free frozen crusts to made at home. Reasonable price too. Bonus they honor Military on Mondays with discount.
Separate GF menu and they took notice to my GF needs on a Saturday night. 👍🏻 We had the goat cheese and prosciutto bruschetta that was good. I asked about adjusting the tuna poke, but the tuna was already mixed with soy sauce (they gave me some raw tuna and avocado instead, nothing fancy). A plus was a pineapple cider 😋🍍. We WILL be back for pizza and sandwiches.
The staff is very knowledgeable regarding gluten free diet. Menu has several options for gluten free table made from their farm to table produce. Gluten free pizza delicious. Chocolate lava cake very creamy ❤️
Had the gf bacon Mac and cheese as well as the margarita pizza and chocolate lava cake. All of it was really good and I didn't have any reactions. I wanted another bowl of the Mac and cheese, it was so good! Also, they have the cutest mugs for sale.
Request the GF menu. Got the GF mac & cheese and it was amazing, if a little expensive. Even though our waitress was clearly new, everything was clearly marked as GF on the receipt when we got it. Burger buns are Udi's, which are not my favorite, but I had no issues with CC, so great all around.
Favorite breakfast place in VB Pizza, sandwiches, burgers
I am celiac and so is my mom. We have eaten here 3x and no reaction. Burgers and pizza are really good. Staff was knowledgeable and food was brought out on different colored plates and by manager.
don't come here if gf
Walked in the door and said 2 please and immediately was asked if we would need any gluten free menus. Had not even said I was celiac yet! The comfort started there. The waiter noticed the menu and asked me if I had a tolerance or celiacs. I told her celiac and she told me not to worry they would make the appropriate accommodations and even went over the menu in full with me! Has by far been the best experience dining out I have had since diagnosis! Awesome! Will be back!
Older reviews are a bit out of date now. The staff seems much more knowledgeable of gluten intolerance now. The establishment has a dedicated gluten free menu and all gluten free dishes come on a black plate (regular come on white). Every time we've gone, the manager personally brings out the gluten free meals. The only thing is that they don't have a separate oven for pizzas, so order those at your own risk.
Dedicated gf menu. Knowledgeable staff. Udi's breads for sandwiches.
I had farro wheat in my gluten free salad !
I was really looking forward to this, and I have to say, I was disappointed. The menu was more limited than I expected, although they did have Udi's everything. That was nice. There weren't any appetizers I could share with my family. I had a chicken sandwich. The homemade vinaigrette over the sandwich was wonderful, but it was otherwise overpowered by the huge sandwich roll. There was very little "stuffing" in the sandwich. The fruit in the fruit cup was actually ripe and very good, though! Excellent, cheerful service and a nice atmosphere. Only one fryer, and a bit expensive for what we got. Would be worth going again to try something else if we were staying in town longer.
Based off the fact I'm currently praying to the porcelain God, I'd say this is NOT a Celiac safe place to eat. I had breakfast there. No GF menu but the waiter said everything in the omelette section was safe. False. Don't chance it.
My favorite restaurant! The menu is huge, tons of safe options! They take gluten sensitivity VERY seriously and their excellent staff always go out of their way to ensure my food is prepared properly. I highly recommend this restaurant!
a dissapointment, was our choice for dinner based on the menu and the offering of pizza. got to the restaurant, asked for a gluten free menu and sat, ordered drinks and made our choices. it was at the point of ordering that the waitress informed us that they did not have any pizza shells. huge dissapointment. and no dedicated frier so could not have fries with the 2nd choice of a burger. not worth the 10 minute drive from the beach.
Awesome place for gluten free food. Gluten Free pizza is best in VA Beach. update: grinder sandwiches have very little meat and not worth the high price. Manager never called me back when I wanted to address it.
The GF pizza was very good. They don't make the GF crust themselves, but whoever makes it does a fantastic job. Speaking for their service, I was sadly disappointed. Food was very slow and apology insincere.
Wonderful restaurant. They had a separate GF menu with good options. Both GF and non-GF family members were ecstatic with our food. If we ever come back to Va Beach, we'll definitely come back here. High praise.
Love this place. Great gluten free menu. Food is amazing!
Awesome place for breakfast or pizza. We ate there for breakfast. Udi"s bread and there substituted hash browns with fruit. I was not impressed with sandwiches as there is only small meat and same with salads. They have many gluten free pizzas and though no dairy free cheese you are allowed to bring in dairy free cheese or buy the gluten free crust for just 4.00 ! All this and they also have 15% military discount on Mondays!
