I ordered the gluten free burger and my partner got the soup. Very knowledgeable of coeliacs and advised when it came through soup itself it gluten free if I wanted to try it but not the bread (obviously) The soup was delicious! The burger bun was one of the best I've ever had. Lovely place and lovely staff
I never leave reviews. I actually joined this group simply so I could do so this time. I can’t say enough about how amazing this restaurant was. Not only was the staff top notch, the ambience of the restaurant perfect, but the food was to die for. The best meal I had in all my two weeks in Iceland!
We had an exceptional experience at Brass. We enjoyed the GF Breaded Icelandic Cod, with FRENCH FRIES and a small side salad. The breading was delicious (cod amazing) and Fries were prepared in a GF environment. This location is quite spendy but absolutely worth it for a special night out!
Not a ton of marked GF variety but they did have everything designated on the menu for what allergens each item contained. They have a lot of burgers but we didn't ask about their preparation (if they toast buns on the same grill) as we were there for fish. They did have GF buns available.
The meal we had was fantastic. Both my husband (he's not gluten free) and I ate the seafood soup, which came in a large bowl and had a slight korma flavor that really worked with the seafood. I also ate a lava cake with berries and ice cream and had an Italian white wine. Items were clearly marked and clearly marked, and the waitress was knowledgeable.
Absolutely delicious food and the menu is well labeled for allergens.
Super sensitive celiac. I wasn’t sure I wanted to eat hamburgers but...it was AMAZING! They were very aware of gluten free and Celiac and easily able to navigate our needs. They have a dedicated gf fryer, and can sub in gf buns and breads for almost all items. There are only three items on the menu that can't be made gf. Highly recommend!
After trying out several places in the capital, I think I've found my favourite here. You can order the gluten-free fish and chips (cooked in a separate fryer). All the burgers can be served with gluten-free bread, which is really good. I was able to change the cheddar cheese for a vegan cheese to have a lactose-free version (for those who are lactose intolerant, it should be pointed out that they put parmesan cheese on the chips).
The staff were really attentive and knew all the subtleties of intolerances. I'm really happy to have found this place, I feel like I've finally had a real meal. I think I'll come back before I leave.
Very knowledge about celiac and gluten free. I was with 2 "normal" eaters and we ordered the Icelandic meat and cheese board to start and not only did the keep the "normal" bread separate they brought out gluten free bread for me to enjoy totally unexpected. I was prepared for just the meat and cheese! I ordered the Icelandic cod fish and chips for my main and they do have a dedicated fryer. It was hands down the best meal of my whole trip! Can not recommend highly enough.
Great restaurant. I have a nut allergy and coeliac and staff were very clued up on the menu. Separate fryers so chips were safe. I had the blue cheese rib eye burger which came in an amazing gluten free roll. They had gluten free Gull Lite on draft which was good. I didn’t look at starters or mains as it was a quick bite to eat.
Best gluten free burger I’ve ever had, the bun was soft and not dry, also the bun was bigger than the burger which isn’t always the case when ordering gluten free.
I got the truffle burger and it was amazing. 10/10 - I also got the buffalo cauli wings which were also nice. Apparently they make everything separate with separate fryers.
Delicious and safe fish and chips here! Fish is pan fried in butter in a separate pan - not battered and fried, with fries from a dedicated fryer. The staff are very aware of celiac/GF needs.
I mentioned to our server that we were there because we had seen the GF fish and chips posted online. Next thing I know, two other table by us are all also ordering the GF fish and chips! All of us learned about this place from FMGF and we had a good laugh about it. All of us from different places connected in Iceland over these GF fish and chips, thanks to this app. ❤
No
I had the fish and chips here today. The fish was super fresh and delicious. I asked the server all of the questions and just as others have said they really know what they’re doing. Highly recommend.
This is also the restaurant that is affiliated with the Alda Hotel. The breakfast buffet is quite good! They do have gf bread and gf crackers available, you just have to ask. You can get the yogurt without granola, there is plenty of fruit, slices of meat and cheese, scrambled eggs and grilled breakfast potatoes, plenty of choices, clean, attentive serving staff.
Had the GF fish and chips for lunch here today and it was absolutely delicious! This dish appears the only option on the menu, but the waiter told me afterwards that they could also provide GF buns for all the hamburgers on the menu. They use a separate fryer for their fries. Would come back again if we had another day in Reykjavik.
Only the fish and chips are gluten free, but they are delicious. The waitress was very well-informed and explained everything to us. The fish is pan-fried instead of deep-fried to avoid contamination and the fries are prepared in a separate fryer. The portions were very large and I had no symptoms. Fully recommend.
I told them that I have celiac disease and asked for gluten-free options. They have gluten-free fish&chips, for starter cauliflower wings and selfmade gluten-free buns. The service was really good and the employees were nice and helpful and really friendly! Taste was pretty good and I can really recommend!!! Price was also good for Iceland. No extra price for gluten-free.
My husband and I ate here the first day we landed in Reykjavik and we both had INCREDIBLE fish and chips. His was made regular and mine were gluten free. As soon as I said celiac, the waiter assured me that the fish was pan fried and the fries were made in a dedicated fryer. It tasted so delicious and fresh that we came back here specifically for the same meal on our last day before we flew out. I felt safe and it tasted amazing.
The staff was the most knowledgeable of any that I spoke with in the city regarding gluten and specifically Celiac disease. They assured us that the fryer used for their gluten-free items is completely separate and were able to tell me which items, including sauces may contain gluten. The seating and atmosphere were also nice.
This was a beautiful restaurant with wonderful staff. They gave the impression they knew what GF was so I ordered a delicious burger. Double checked the bun was GF. Separate fryer for the fries. It was so good. And then I was in bed all afternoon because I was sick. Glutened for sure. I think in Iceland they have a “gluten friendly” version of items that restaurants may call GF that are not. Beware and don’t get taken out like I did on my first day and first meal in Iceland. Maybe stick with things like fish and vegetables. I had just read so many good things here and wanted to try a burger.
