Waitress says they are busy every Tues for GF night. We arrived at 5p which seemed to be a great time as service was prompt.
Went here tonight with some friends. They do not have a gluten allergy and mine is non-celiac. However, I cannot eat any gluten. I got the gf pasta with sausage, rabe, lemon, and chile. Amazing! My server was very knowledgeable. She did mention the GF Tuesdays, but this was a Friday. I also appreciated having 3 options besides gelato for dessert. Very worth a try, especially for the non-celiac gluten sensitive folks!
We were traveling through Boston to points north for our summer road trip and were pleasantly surprised that our planning just happened to work out so that we were in Boston on a Tuesday. This is because Tuesday is GF night at Capo wherein the whole restaurant is supposed to be GF. I have to say “supposed to be” and I really, really hate saying this because they have been heaped with praise for their GF nights BUT my middle celiac was violently ill after eating there on a Tuesday. And except for the intensity of her reaction (which could simply be the usual worsening of celiac reactions the longer she eats gluten free), everything points to her having been glutened. The most likely culprit was the kids’ raviolis as that was the only thing she ate that our other 2 celiacs did not and she was the only one to get sick. The focaccia was amazing - probably literally the best bread we’ve had ever since going GF - in both its plain form and as the basis for the garlic bread. The arancinis were to die for.
GF Tuesday was amazing and the food was really good! We had the arancini, a complimentary bread basket, and pasta that were all wonderful. However, I know they have some gf food all of the time, but I don’t know if I would trust them if it wasn’t Tues where the whole menu was gf. As you can see in my picture, there was another kind of noodle in my pasta. I would need to ask more about what precautions they take when preparing gf food alongside gluten.
Two in our family have celiac and we are ridiculously sensitive. We recently visited Capo in for our daughter’s 22nd birthday. It was gluten free Tuesday which meant that everything on the menu was GF. So many options that it was hard to choose. Photos Very large portions! From appetizers to entrees and desserts, everything was excellent. They were so kind and even gave us dessert on the house! Our 3 non-celiac guests loved their meals as well. Highly recommend!
She made reservations a few weeks ahead of time. Parking was challenging, but there is a small lot across the street. T food, ambiance, service, entire experience was well worth it.
Went to gluten free Tuesday and I was not disappointed! The bread was fresh and warm from the oven and so delicious. Our food was so good that I don’t have words for it! We had chicken parm, spaghetti and meatballs, and the half smoked chicken. Even though it’s gf night they still asked about allergies and even celiac specifically. I can’t wait to go back to Boston so I can eat here again.
Went on a gluten free Tuesday at 4pm, only ones in the restaurant at the time of ordering. I was very eager to eat here after all of the positive reviews but was very disappointed in the quality of the food for the price.
The homemade bread was not fresh, tasteless and the dipping oil was low quality olive oil.
The garlic bread uses the same bread and olive oil- instead of fresh garlic they use some type of dried shaved garlic. The meatballs were 3 for $16, and 2 out of 3 were undercooked and falling apart.
The kitchen tried to say that bc they are gluten free they fall apart, but they were too soft and gooey in the middle to just be gluten free and not hold together due to lack of breadcrumbs.
The chicken Parmesan was very wonderful. It was crispy and well seasoned. Cooked thoroughly and delicious. It came with homemade rigatoni, which was also tasteless and overcooked. The vodka sauce was the only flavor on the pasta, and it was very tasty.
Overall, very expensive for a lackluster meal.
Gluten Free Tuesdays at Cappo is a must! The whole kitchen gets a deep clean so cc is not an issue. I’ve had the cassava fries, the focaccia bread, the shrimp scampi, the tiramisu, cannolis, chicken parm, chicken piccata, and more. My favorite is the chicken parm! 1000/10 would recommend!!
I just tried Capo’s GF Tuesday for the first time (I have been to the restaurant several times before being diagnosed with celiac and never had a bad meal)—and it did not disappoint! There were so many options, and despite it all being GF they still asked about allergies and were very good at making me feel safe. The food was delish and my family (who is not GF) also loved it. Highly recommend!
We went to Capo on their Tuesday gf night. The food was okay, not great. The bread basket was not tasty at all while the tuna crudo was delicious. We ordered the rigatoni a la vodka with chicken (good), fusilli pomodorini (good), pepperoni pizza (greasy and spicy) and truffle and mushroom risotto (incredibly salty). We had the torta alla fruta for dessert (some parts good but the cake was not tasty). It was a memorable meal for the wrong reasons unfortunately.
I’ve been here five or so times, always on gluten free night (Tuesday). I’ve generally had great experiences with the food and atmosphere. I love the sausage torcio pasta—it’s delicious every time. The cocktails and mock tails are decent as well. For dessert, the tiramisu and cannoli have been my favorites. I’ve never gotten sick or felt uneasy with answers to my questions.
I recommend making a reservation, as some Tuesdays can be really busy.
The best ever! Nothing bad to say! A must go for gluten free people, Tuesdays are also gluten free only menu all day! I have gluten allergies as well as garlic and onion. It’s so hard to go out to eat especially an Italian restaurant because everything has garlic and onion in it. This place was so nice and talked to the chef to see what he can make, did not feel like I was a bother at all. Delicious gluten free desserts as well, desserts gluten free people usually can’t touch when eating out.
Nice restaurant, really pricey for the quality of food. We went on gluten free Tuesdays and I was excited to try the Gnocchi as it's not an available option really anywhere but it was not good. They weren't pasta, it was more like overcooked mashed potatoes in tater tot form. Also, the flavors were not great. Brussel sprouts were delicious though! I would just go there for drinks and apps. We've been thinking of trying it again in case it was a fluke night but there are SO many gluten free Italian places in Boston that it doesn't feel necessary to try again for a long while.
Went here for my birthday dinner last Tuesday and had the best Italian food I’ve had since being gluten free now for 7 years. Tuesday nights they turn the whole menu gluten free. I shared the meatballs, calamari and Brussels sprouts. For my main, i had the chicken parm with rigatoni and a chocolate cake for dessert! Highly recommend going here. They are very knowledgeable about celiac.
Great food! Knowledgeable server! Will go back on a Tuesday for Gluten Free Night. Tried scallops and pasta—both were delicious.
2024 update: Still wonderful! Server was great. Had the sea bass and the tiramisu—did not get sick. Definitely on the list for any GF Boston itinerary!
I’ve been to Capo for GF Tuesdays. The first time I felt good and was excited to go again. When I went the second time I threw up after the meal. When I went the third time I felt a little sick after as well. I don’t think I got glutened but I do think I had a bad reaction to the gf bread they bring to the table. The second time I went I had the caprese salad, the gnocchi with pork and balsamic, and the bread. I only had a half slice of the bread the third time and I didn’t feel as sick. I do feel like they take allergies seriously and are knowledgeable about celiac.
I went for gf night & was very excited to be able to eat everything on the menu! That being said, the food I tried was underwhelming. The bread was dense, the gnocci was greasy and the pasta was very heavy. Love love love this concept, was just not very pleased with the actual execution of the meals.
Amazing! Come in on Tuesdays for full gluten free menu (minus one thing for the people who are like “eww gluten free”). This is the only restaurant I have ever been able to order meatballs and know it’s safe. On normal nights, they have gf pasta and pizza crust and one dedicated dessert. But the gf bread for the table is only on Tuesdays, so definitely go then. I have to keep going back so I can try everything on the menu!
Went here for gluten free night (every Tuesday) and it was AMAZING!! As a celiac it was amazing to be able to eat pretty much anything on the menu. They clean the kitchen entirely the day before (including the fryers!!) and the risk of cross contamination is minimal (they’ve added a few “non gluten free” dishes to the menu, but assured us that the focus is on keeping the environment gluten free and dishes were chosen especially to be easier to not share spaces). We went as a group and had pizza, chicken and eggplant parm, the truffle polenta cakes (so good), pistachio pesto Brussel sprouts, a dessert special (ricotta donuts with Nutella-outstanding), and a piece of delicious chocolate cake. Even the table bread was gluten free and delicious. Also has a great bar with awesome cocktails. Definitely recommend coming on a Tuesday, it was pretty busy so maybe make a reservation!
Finally got here to try Tuesday nights at Capo. Last night was a special Thanksgiving meal and it was amazing. It was so nice to just feel normal. I didn’t have to worry about other people dipping their bread in the oil and I could eat off anyone else’s plate. 10 out of 10 experience.
I finally made it here for a gluten free Tuesday and it did not disappoint! It was so nice not having to worry about any sort of cross contact and all of the food was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend (not gluten free) also really enjoyed everything he had, which is always a worry I have whenever I bring anyone to a fully gluten free restaurant. I will definitely be coming here again!
Ate here on my first night in Boston after being encouraged by reviews here. It was not GF night when I went, but I didn’t feel I had a shortage of options and the pasta was absolutely delicious. I got to the end of my dish and found a spaghetti noodle in my rigatoni pasta and immediately thought “Oh no. Here we go.” But I asked my waitress and she checked with chef and through this I learned they make all the GF pasta on the same day (a day when they aren’t also making gluten pasta) and no matter what day it is, they have a separate GF pot. My waitress was honest that there was still a chance that the spaghetti was glutenous and offered to bring out her manager, take it off the bill, etc. She was obviously very concerned and I could tell this doesn’t happen often. In the end I did not get sick, so I believe it was a GF noodle.
Had the best experience here on GF Tuesday. Husband & son couldn't tell the difference. Had the brussel sprouts for app. Fresh homemade bread was delicious and my chicken Parm with fresh pasta was out of this world. If I lived closer to this place I would definitely make it one of my staple restaurants!!!
Went for gluten free night and informed the server I have celiac disease when I ordered. Tested the gluten free focaccia with my Nima sensor and it was gluten free. Ordered the pasta bolognese and my Nima sensor found gluten in it. The manager was apologetic and said they would look into it. I wasn’t comfortable trying any more of the food, but they did take the pasta off the bill.
We went for GF Tuesdays last night and had the best experience! Food was delicious, and I felt very safe. Highly recommend!!
Love love love gluten free Tuesdays at capo but there’s amazing gluten free food every other night too! I’ve had the gluten free pasta with vodka sauce and the spaghetti carbonara-both we’re amazing! Wasn’t a huge fan of the bread on the gluten free night however it was cool to just get a basket of it without even asking. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or living in Boston!! Also pretty affordable as a college student with celiac and easy to get to from the red line
Love this place! They clean the place down and have GF every Tuesday. Only a couple items on the menu with gluten those days. The food was terrific. The service was wonderful. I had so many choices! I had shrimp scampi which isn't listed on the menu but was recommended by my waitress. Hubby had ziti with marinara and chicken parmesan and was impressed by the crunchy coating (he isn't GF). Dulcey cheesecake for dessert. Table also had cheese foccacia with dipping olive oil/ shredded cheese which was close to regular focaccia crumb.
