Visiting Houston and was looking for safe and delicious gf and df Tex Mex-while the food did seem clean and gf/df, it was not delicious-guacamole and chips were good, ceviche was decent, though the plantain chips were 1/2 stale and 1/2 crispy, and the chicken fajitas were plain, dry, and not executed well-and nothing special about the corn tortillas. Waiter was nice and helpful.
Literally most of the menu is gluten free or can be adjusted
I got the chicken tinga enchiladas with the rice. Black refried beans and rice are both gluten free! Also the chips and queso are safe and so good. This was the best meal I’ve had out in a while so flavorful and so much variety.
I am super sensitive to cross contamination and had no problems at all. I feel very safe coming back and trying more things!
The staff was very knowledgeable and checked on things- menu has gf symbol by things too
Went for Happy Hour Was great and many delicious selections and served was great and knowledgable.
They had a staff member sit down and chat with me, they asked how sensitive my allergy was and made sure they put very sensitive allergy on the menu. I am sensitive to the point of contact allergy and am nervous to try new places, but they made me feel super safe and had delicious food.
I was born and raised in Texas and know Tex-Mex and Barbecue very well, and have to say that not only is Cyclone Anaya one of the best gluten free options you’ll find, it’s also the best Tex-Mex you’ll find. Every time I’ve been it’s been phenomenal and I’m able to eat pretty much anything I want without an issue. Today we had Austin as the waiter and he was great and very knowledgeable about food allergies. We will definitely ask for him again in the future and recommend you do too. The chips, salsa and queso are gluten free and they’re all very good. I have been favoring the enchiladas recently and they’re even better when you choose queso as the sauce. Their flan is thicker than most other restaurants and both the texture and flavor are sensational. If you haven’t tried this restaurant yet, here’s your sign to give it a shot!
We’ve eaten here several times now. Each time the experience has been wonderful. The staff is knowledgeable about what is gluten free, and when they’re uncertain they always check. The gluten free choices are clearly marked on the menu. Food tastes great. It’s nice to have chips and salsa and enchiladas. A great option of the table side guacamole is you can omit any ingredients you don’t like, such as onions or cilantro. We’ve visited many times in the last eight months and everything has been consistent and met or beat our expectations.
I have celiac and the waiter was very attentive in asking the chefs about what dishes could be made gluten free. Beware not all locations offer the gf nachos.
I had the quinoa shrimp and it was awesome. Had no reaction and think this place is safe as long as you clearly communicate with your waiter!
Highly recommend, best corn tortilla I've ever had. Also my friend who is not celiac loved their enchilada.
From start to finish it was a wonderful experience. Menu clearly labeled gluten-free options. When I told the waitress Laura I was gluten free she let the manager Haas know and he came over to the table. When I asked questions the Chef Steve came out and inquired what I was looking at and he made suggestions. I ended up ordering the blue crab nachos with a brisket taco on the side. Steve personally prepared my meal, which was delicious. My husband who is not gluten free ordered a combo with a cheese enchilada and chalupa, he said his food was also delicious. Both Steve and Haas came to check on us. They even brought us flan on the house for dessert. Everything was so fabulous! We will definitely be back!
They had a gf menu. On the menu was crab nachos. I asked about if the crab meat was imitation or fresh, she said imitation. That was a red flag for me. I ended up getting the baked nachos with just beans and cheese. The cheese was too cheesy (not being bougie. Everyone else who all got different entrees thought the same). I wasn’t impressed, but it did have quite a few options. I’d go if others were going but not on my own.
By far this is the best place were we enjoy the sizzling Fajitas and Great Margaritas. I was greeted by the Manager Luis at the front door what a sweet man making us feel welcome. Its a friendly family oriented place. Will return back with my girlfriends . Thumbs up for great customer service. Loved that the manager luis was checking on us making sure we were taking care of rare to find a place that does that.
You can have chips here but they are baked and rather disappointing. So bring your own if you can. Soft tacos were pretty good though..they put a red sauce over them which makes them more fun than a normal taco..kind of like an enchilada. I can't have dairy and if you leave the cheese off that meal is safe.
The food was amazing and the staff super helpful. The tortilla chips have a dedicated fryer! So they were great! Not the usual weird baked ones I usually have to eat!
There were only 5 entree options on the GF menu, and 4 of those were fish or seafood. So basically if you're GF and have a seafood allergy, you're getting tacos. Maybe I just had an uninformed server, but I wasn't even offered an alternative to the chips fried in a common fryer. On top of that, the food was mediocre and overpriced.
I told our waiter that I had celiacs and he and the chef were very accommodating! They even baked me my own corn tortilla chips so I didn't have to worry about cross contamination from the fryer. They also made my favorite (steak quesadillas) gluten free. They definitely went above and beyond to make sure I felt at ease dining with them!
I had a wonderful experience here! GF items are clearly marked on the menu, and the waitress assured me that the chips go into their own separate fryer. The waitress went to the kitchen with any questions I had and was very kind. The food was also wonderful! They brought out chips and salsa when we sat down, which were delicious. Then I got a combo plate so I could try a taco, tamale, enchilada, and rice and beans. I was not disappointed!! The food was SO good!!
5 stars for safety and ambience. We were lucky to be seated right by a window overlooking the waterway- it was pretty! Unfortunately, I would rate 2 stars for taste and service. Our meal averaged $30/plate, and was definitely not worth that. BUT our gf daughter did not get sick, so that is the big positive for this restaurant.
Queso has changed now to have flour . No longer gluten free. Changed alot of menu items to include flour(gluten). Their chili gravy was the only place found to be gluten free but they changed it so now it does. We used to go there often but now maybe once every six months just to see if changed.
