Big gluten free selection! I had the gf cinnamon roll breakfast and it was so good! Eggs, chicken sausage, skillet potatoes, and a gf cinnamon roll-- the perfect breakfast!
Ok, so first of all I would DEFINITELY come back and this is one of the best options I have seen for someone looking for a decent GF AND DF breakfast! I really appreciated that there was oat milk for my coffee and I could have the potatoes (usually a no go) and the bacon! My (not allergic to anything) husband had a delicious hearty breakfast. There were, however, a couple of snafus. I ordered the grits after my server assured me they were DF, and although they caught the mistake in the kitchen, my husband’s food came and he ate breakfast as I waited for my replacement meal. Snafu #2-we were charged for all three meals and had to wait around for that to get straightened out. Also, I bought a mug that was chipped and had to exchange it. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Our waiter was genuinely upset at his mistake. Having said that, I’m in customer service and really surprised they didn’t comp the meal or at least the mug. We didn’t kick up a fuss though. Anyhow, options for a GF/DF breakfast are so slim I appreciate any restaurant that goes the extra mile to offer it.
Best gf cinnamon rolls ever! I try to stop here everytime I travel through and stock up on the cinnamon rolls!
I was so excited when I read about this place online. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about celiac. They have an entirely separate menu and it is HUGE! It appears that they put their gluten free menu items on red plates and the other food on white plates. I ordered the GF cinnamon roll breakfast with chicken sausage and a side of GF mini pancakes. Don’t be fooled, the mini pancakes are basically normal sized pancakes and you get two when you order it as a side. The food came out very quickly. The cinnamon roll is to die for! And the pancakes are amazing, very fluffy. Honestly I have never had such great breakfast food and have a menu have so many options since being diagnosed with celiac six years ago! And it’s right next to Sally’s gluten free bakery so we got some chocolate chip cookies to take home!
The gluten free menu was extensive! It was so awesome seeing pancakes and cinnamon rolls on a menu not just omelets and other eggs. I would recommend this restaurant to other celiacs. Food was good and safe!
They have an excellent gluten free selection and seem very knowledgeable about celiac. The food is delicious.
I am celiac and I eat at more than one of their locations often. They use to have gf, df pancakes and French toast but now all have dairy. They said corporate won't allow special items made.
Very knowledgeable about Celiac. Great breakfasts.
GF cinnamon rolls are amazing!!
Huge variety on their menu. Their GF menu had so many options. Even the kids menu had GF options already included on it. Loves the GF pancakes.
OMG I had lunch there yesterday. Ordered the GF pancake combo and a cinnamon roll, too. The cinnamon roll was divine. I wanted a whole tray!!!!! Pancakes were great, too!!Potatoes were just average, but the eggs were good with pepper jack cheese.
Gf pancakes were awesome!
This place was great! We took a trip to Atlanta over the weekend for an expo. We decided on breakfast here because they had lots of gluten free options. I love the atmosphere. It's so down home-y. The staff are very nice and well mannered. The sweet tea comes out in a Mason jar :) I ordered the gluten free cinnamon roll with scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese grits. The only disappointment was that the cinnamon roll was a little on the small side, BUT IT WAS AMAZING! The best cinnamon roll I've ever had, gluten free or not. It was so buttery and soft, and the icing was perfect. Cheese grits were good, eggs and bacon were average. They do very well at making sure everything is clear from cross contamination (the server said they literally wipe down everything and have dedicated pans for gluten free). All in all, I really enjoyed eating here. I wish there was one closer to home cause I'd eat there all the time. Definitely stop by if you're in the neighborhood! There's more than one location!
Biggest gluten free menu I have experienced so far! The cinnamon roll is a must! It is to die for! Our waitress was extremely friendly and trained on celiac. Can't wait to go back again!
Excellent food, tremendous menu options. Very friendly staff!!!! Justin was our waiter and super!!!! Now for breakfast, the g.f. cinnamon roll is a must and deserves a moment of silence to enjoy all its yumminess. Everything, eggs, harbor potatoes, cherry bacon, delicious.
Oh my goodness! I absolutely loved this sweet breakfast spot! They understood the difference between Celiac and Gluten. They have the BEST cinnamon rolls and amazing GF pancakes! Definitely recommended coming here! Also, props to Shea and Amanda for being so helpful!
We LOVE Egg Harbor Cafe. The food is amazingly good HOWEVER on our most recent visit we noticed the menu says while they strive to serve GF food it its customers, they can not guarantee there will not be cross contamination. For those with Celiacs, this is a major bummer. They will do their best---no question but for those who can't afford to take a chance...buyer beware.
SO DELICIOUS and exciting to have a full breakfast that is safe and filling. Perfect cinnamon rolls, bacon, eggs, and potatoes. My husband enjoyed a skillet and cheese grits. We are both highly sensitive, and neither of us had any reaction!!!!!
love the gf pancakes.
Love this place!! So many great options it's hard to chose. Staff was great also. They are helpful and understand and friendly. Which is a blessing when it comes to eating out.
The previous reviewers are right about the cinnamon bun breakfast! YUM-TASTIC! The potatoes are off the chain delicious as well! The staff understood a food allergy and I am excited to report zero reaction! HUZZAH! The only con with all these pros is that I wish the portions were larger. But then, I'm not sure they COULD serve me a portion large enough if I'm completely honest!
Delicious GF menu and options!! I got the GF cinnamon bun breakfast, it was fantastic and the breakfast potatoes were safe :) they offer gf pancakes but can't speak for them.
I thought the cinnamon roll was delicious. Also appreciated the ability to sub for no extra charge (egg whites, turkey sausage, fruit instead of potatoes). Lots of options available!
Awesome place GF/DF options. Very friendly staff
This place is incredible! Best GF cinnamon roll I've had in my entire life!
I had a great salad here today. I was in a hurry, and the staff accommodated me perfectly. The combinations of flavors in the GF Harvest Salad was amazing, and the presentation was lovely. I will be back soon to try some of the breakfast items.
Horrible, thrown together gluten free items! Save your money and you time and skip this place!
Excellent food good variety, they do warn you on the menu that they may cross contaminate so beware. Staff is very friendly
Awesome! Loved everything in the menu, and my din lived the gluten free pancakes!
Awesome! Had the cheesy grits and eggs - so good! Lots of other GF items on the menu, too. Sandwiches and salads, and oh! GF pancakes! Going back for Benedict on hash browns.
hmm I was excited about the possibility of pancakes, but disappointed in the reality. IDK about the rest of the menu although there were some tasty sounding skillets & omelets.
They have a separate gluten-free, which they have now updated to include skillets with riced cauliflower instead of potatoes!! I had one with riced cauliflower, shredded brussels sprouts and fresh jalapeños — with two eggs on top, fresh fruit side, and gluten-free pancakes:)
Oh it was so extremely amazing, if i’m ever back in Georgia, this is where i’ll go as often as possible. They have so so many options, it makes you feel like any other regular person. The gluten free cinnamon roll and fresh toasted bread and pancakes and everything was amazing! I’ll for sure recommend it to everyone i ever meet
I’ve been eating here for two decades and find few breakfast places in the area that compare. I love their fresh-squeezed orange and strawberry juice, their skillets, sandwiches and specials. The gf bread for sandwiches is great as are their gf pancakes, although I usually play it safe and avoid starches since the egg options are plentiful. Staff have always been friendly and accommodating and meals are marked with allergy tags.
Firstly, they have an interactive menu online where you can filter out allergens and see what is safe for you on the menu. Secondly, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. I am dairy free as well and the only milk alternative was oat milk, which I questioned if it would be gluten free. He willingly offered on his own to bring it to the table so I could see he carton. When I thanked him he said “of course, this is your health we’re talking about!” He also double checked there was no dairy in the potatoes. I’m extremely sensitive to gluten. I had the chicken chilaquiles and an oat milk latte and I had no reactions.
Many Gluten Free options. Traditional breakfast entrees, and also items that are hard to find GF like cinnamon rolls and pancakes. Bottomless coffee pitcher on your table and even a complimentary To Go cup. Your GF selection arrives on a unique color plate so there is no confusion by kitchen or server. Top quality food, prepared carefully, provides a thoroughly enjoyable and Celiac safe dining experience. I have eaten here often without any reaction. On weekends it can be extremely crowded (it is right on the Naperville River Walk) with rather long waits, but definitely worth any inconvenience.
I usually don't write reviews, I hope this will be helpful. My family is Gluten Free, my wife is Celiac. We got there early at 7am, not busy. For last day of school celebration as a family. We asked for gluten free menus, told the server we were all gluten free. My wife and daughter ordered 1st followed by me. As coincidence my wife and I ordered the same thing. Upon my order said GF meal name and wife said your getting the same thing, I agreed. Upon arrival my wife and daughters order were correct and mine was wrong. They gave me a random gluten meal, which I promptly sent back. 10 minutes later they came back with the right meal but missing a side. Since we had to be at the sitter at 8 had no time to wait another 10 minutes for a side. Upon checkout, the cashier asked of everything was OK and I said no. There was no Interest in remedies for my unhappiness. Only in a hurry to get me out. I am glad it was me who got sick and not my wife. She can be wiped out for days. I had to hurry to the bathroom. To get sick at a not busy place, Celiac BEWARE! Go somewhere better like Butterfields.
They offer an extensive GF menu, but not Dairy free. Extremely disappointed!! Used to offer DF, but no more. Don’t they know most folks that are GF are Dairy intolerant too? Last visit for us. Sad because used to be a staple place we would go and not get sick
This is my go to place when visitng the Northshore to meet people and safely eat out.I have eaten there (celiac) many times and never had a reaction. Wait staff always seem knowledgeable about gluten allergy and cross contamination. Dedicated toaster. different color plates to denote gluten free
I’ve come to this location for a number of years. I ordered an almond milk mocha and scrambler after alerting the server I have celiac. The server brought me a regular milk mocha and “almond milk on the side”???? And then told me they don’t make almond milk mochas. My food came with an English muffin and when I asked for it to be remade and gently alerted the server again that I was Celiac, the server brought the food to the kitchen, removed the English muffin and brought back the same plate. Horrible. Never returning to this location.
The staff is very knowledgeable and assured us they would be very cautious while cooking my daughters breakfast. She is 8 years old and newly diagnosed. Usually we have a lot of tees when we go out to eat because she is limited on her choices. But this place can make almost anything on their menu gluten free! Wish we lived closer!
They have never gotten me or my girlfriend sick so I can confidently say their kitchen practices are very safe and thorough for Celiac people. and their customer service is great as well. On one occasion we thought they had given us regular gluten pancakes because they were very fluffy and looked too good to be true. The manager got us a double order of gluten free pancakes complementary and asked us to bring back our original order so he could show his kitchen staff upon arrival. He explained to us that our pancakes were in fact, gluten free. He still gave us the double order and we apologized for the inconvenience. But I have nothing but good things to say about this place :)
This place is definitely celiac friendly. They have a separate prep area, a gluten free menu, and the servers are very knowledgeable. All gluten free orders come on colored plates, whereas non gluten free food comes out on white plates. While in the area for business, I ate breakfast here 3 times successfully.
Was very disappointed to find out AFTER they served us our pancakes that they don't make dairy free GF pancakes anymore. We made it very clear to the server that a member of our party has a dairy allergy in addition to celiac. Again, very disappointing - not just because they don't offer dairy and gluten free pancakes, but more so that their standards for the care of customers with allergies has turned negligent. This used be a safe place to eat - not any longer.
