Really good quality food and atmosphere. They even brought me a gluten free roll when i asked for the gluten free menu. The fries are not fried in a separate fryer but that is printed on the menu and they made sure to tell me. The mashed potatoes and chicken combo were delightful. Seemed crowded for a weekend dinner night so if you don’t wanna sit at the bar maybe you need reservations.

I visited this restaurant and was very pleased with the food. I got the Pad Thai with rice noodles and it was delicious. The gluten free roll was pretty good and the salmon was moist and very good. We got our food very quickly, not a long wait at all. Great food and service!

Service was excellent! They have a separate gluten free menu with many options. Waitress asked if I wanted a GF roll. I have never had a GF roll in a restaurant. It came warmed and wrapped in foil. I ordered the Cilantro Lime Chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, and fresh fruit. SO delicious! The manager came to our table to check on us. Very family friendly too. Highly recommend!

Very impressed! The waitstaff was very accommodating and knowledgeable! I did not get sick! I was given a gluten free roll that came wrapped in tinfoil. For my meal, I had gotten the ribs and mashed potatoes! When the food came out, there was a little flag that was on it and they reassured me that it was safe and that the flag was used to show it was gluten free! The atmosphere was very fun too!

GLUTEN AND SOY FREE ————

I could rave about this place for days and it wouldn’t be enough. They were SO accommodating. They checked all of the foods, toasted special GF bread for me so I could have bread, made a special Merlot butter to go with the filet so it was safe, I asked for sweet potato fries and they were going bake them so they didn’t get contaminated but they had soy so they specially made me a baked sweet potato. They even altered the raspberry hazelnut torte to be safe for me. They were AMAZING. They did note to *go later* or at less busy times so they chefs can accommodate how they want to. They LOVED accommodating and not being treated like a burden was so heart warming. We will be back!

*Be very careful eating here if you are very sensitive like I am.* I ordered a burger and fries (baked in the oven because there’s a shared fryer) and the meal tested positive for gluten with my NIMA. When I asked more questions, I found out that they cook everything in a shared oven without putting any cover over the “gluten free” meals. I’m not sure why this is not mentioned on their menu since they do mention the shared fryer. The waiter was pretty clueless about allergies and tried to tell me there was no chance of CC when I was ordering (despite the disclaimer on the menu). When my meal tested positive, he sent the manager over who was very nice and tried to have the kitchen remake my meal with better precautions. Unfortunately, it still tested positive. He didn’t charge me and offered me a free dessert which he said was not made in the oven. I tested the dessert at home and it was positive for gluten as well, which I was expecting because I figured they either make all the desserts together or store them together. I’ve actually eaten here once before and while my meal tested positive for gluten, I’d thought at the time it was due to the red color of the sauce which can mess with the NIMA. I did end up feeling sick after that meal, but since I already wasn’t feeling well that day, I didn’t know for sure if it was the restaurant. The only thing that tested safe both times for me was the gluten free bread which is baked and served inside tinfoil.

Fun restaurant with plenty of GF options! I got the fresh harvest salad with salmon and it was fantastic. Ask for a GF menu - it lists how to ask for your food to make it safe (i.e. no croutons). Food came out marked with a flag. There were even plenty of dessert options (like the creme Brule, which is amazing!). Wish I was closer to Williamsburg so I could eat here more often!

I'm the only celiac in my group of 6, including 3 kids. I got the Thai One On with chicken and was delicious. I also had a warm gf roll. My husband had a burger with fries, as did my mother. Just ate lunch here and it was amazing. They have a whole gluten free menu and gluten free rolls so you're not left out when they bring the rolls for the table. The staff is very knowledgeable and careful when the gluten free options are mentioned. They let the kitchen know as soon as you tell them so your meal can be prepared with care. Great experience here. They have an entirely separate gluten free menu, just ask for it upon being seated. There are gluten free rolls available as an alternative to their house bread. It will come with both butter and a gluten free/vegan smart balance. For those that are dairy free as well, there are options for that including a delicious raspberry chocolate torte for desert. Exceptional service, great atmosphere, large portions…we’ll be back!

Vacationing with family and very apprehensive about eating out with Celiacs. After reading positive reviews, I decided to give this establishment a try. It was PERFECTION! I had a rack of yummy drop off the bone ribs, mashed sweet potatoes and grits. They had a gluten free roll they special order and heat in foil to prevent cross contamination. I was full but still finished my meal off with a chocolate cake torte that had freshly made whipped cream and the creamiest vanilla bean ice cream I’ve ever had. They have a huge gluten free menu and are exceptionally knowledgeable. They flag every gluten free dish. The owner came to our table and said he opened 17 years ago with a gluten free menu offering. He takes allergies very seriously. What a gift this place was. I would go every week if I lived here.

It is very difficult to travel with celiac and this place was great. The hostess warmly greeted us and I asked for a gluten free menu. She was able to find and hand it to me immediately. The waitress immediately recognized it when I sat down. They have gluten free desserts as well as appetizers, soup and salads, sides, and entrees. I was able to have their special with two sides. I was also offered a gluten free roll at the beginning of the meal which was a joy because I rarely find this. The fries are fried in a shared oil and it states this on the menu.

Excellent experience. Food was so good. I had the wild mushroom pasta and also the raspberry hazelnut torte and they also gave me a gluten free roll that was soft and delicious. This place is SO good. Server was knowledgeable about gluten free items, they had a separate gluten free menu with LOTS of options including 4 desserts. This was a great restaurant for my two children with celiac. First they were given gluten free rolls. The rolls were individually wrapped and served separately. My younger daughter was able to order a celiac safe meal from the children’s menu. She had ribs and mashed potatoes and was so happy. My older daughter ordered off the adult gf menu. There were so many selections that she stated she was overwhelmed! As we know, that never happens! Their food was delivered by a separate person and was marked with a flag to indicate it was gf.

One of my favorite places to stop when we’re at Virginia Beach! The waitress immediately asked “Are there any allergies at the table?” Which is a great way to make you feel comfortable. She was very aware of what was gluten free and was so helpful. She brought me gluten free rolls that were hot and delicious. Food comes out marked with an American flag toothpick. There’s a pretty good amount of options, each menu section has three or four dishes that are gluten free. There is a separate gluten free menu. That being said this might not be a great place for a pickier eater, the food is so flavorful but it’s some unique flavors. I got the zesty lime chicken and it was FLAVOR PACKED!!! Nice to have that in gluten free food. There were a lot of side options and dessert too. The environment is fun and the whole family loves it!

The food. Oooh. The food is so delicious, full of flavor and Rich in presentation. The portions are not lacking in anyway.

They take all food allergies very seriously and have a dedicated gf menu. They even have a gf dinner roll that makes you think it can’t possibly be gf ( it’s soooooo good ). I had the gf shrimp and grits and I’m a southern boy who knows what that’s supposed to taste like and it’s the best I’ve ever had. Only draw back is I got extra spicy and to them that is not the same as it is to me. Their extra spicy is what we call a splash or spice….. their gf desert 🤤. Like the dinner roll you’ll be asking can this truly be gf??? But it is. It really is!!!

July, 2022 “Food For Thought” knows how to prepare a delicious gluten free meal. So many options on their separate menu. Some of the most flavorful GF dishes you will ever put in your mouth from a restaurant.

Oct 2019 They definitely know how to treat their customers with allergies. They have so many options but I just can’t resist their cilantro lime chicken. And the redskin mashers, excellent!! Very tasting!

Back again. 2018 Still delicious!! One of our favorite places to eat in Williamsburg. They treat you well and you will leave this place thinking about it and wanting to go again.

2017 This place is definitely a must try. They have their own gluten-free menu. Served me a warm and tasty dinner roll wrapped in foil. I was undecided so I ordered the combo jerk chicken with mango salsa and the cilantro lime chicken. They both were excellent but I have to say my favorite was the cilantro lime chicken it was outstanding, with mashed red potatoes and grilled zucchini. The owner (a nice professional looking gentlemen) came out and introduced himself and invited us to come back for breakfast. The food was hot, the service was quick and overall it was a very pleasant experience. Enjoy!!

Great service, great food. Large separate GF menu. Excellent food safety with separation of GF food from regular. My meals came out with toothpick flags to delineate them and I even got GF bread in a separate basket wrapped in tinfoil to ensure no cross contamination. My shrimp and grits was creamy and delicious. Everyone in my party had a great meal. The ribs were fall off the bone good and my fathers (non GF) fried oysters were cooked just right.

Gluten free pasta was EXCELLENT! Penne with a white sauce, cheese, tomatoes and mushrooms. So good and a huge portion. I feel like alot of places just get random cheap GF pasta but this pasta was actually really good.

Love, love love Food for Thought! I am Celiac and ordered the dish that is similar to Pad Thai. They also gave me a GF roll in aluminum foil to avoid cross contamination. Everything was delicious and I did not get sick. The waiter was very knowledgeable about cediac. Excellent experience for celiac in our family, as well as the non-celiac. Delicious food, really neat menu. Appreciated getting carefully wrapped up fresh GF bread roll before the entree. Celiac enjoyed GF cilantro-lime chicken, mushroom rice, fruit bowl. Took GF chocolate cake home. Next day, no issues. Would love to return.

Exceptional service with really yummy food! Wait staff took extra care with our multiple allergy order. They asked all the right questions of our order needs and truly understand gluten free needs and food allergies! So many options on the menu but also completely capable of handling a custom order!

Flew into town to see our daughter at her college. Thursday’s night meal was good but sparse. I ordered Baked eggplant parmesan. Came with steamed broccoli and a GF bun wrapped in foil. Good taste, knowledgeable server but very small portion—3 eggplant rounds. Returned Sunday night and got the grilled Portabella mushroom with no bun. Waiter said that there was no dedicated fryer so I substituted for a side salad. My meal arrived and it had sweet potato fries on the plate which they are cross contaminated (per waiters comment) I asked for a new meal to be brought out which they did 10 minutes later. Unfortunately I returned to our hotel and got the ‘been glutened’ headache, rash and violent GI symptoms. Thankfully our hotel room was at the end so I don’t think I disturbed others with my flushes. Wanted to love this place but so upset that I got glutened. Hence three stars—first night good last night awful. Highly sensitive celiac.

Wonderful experience. They have a separate GF menu with many items to choose from. Server asked if my preference was GF or if I had celiacs. I had a steak salad (with filet mignon) and raspberry tort for dessert. Both delicious

Excellent service, good selection! I had the berry salad with lime chicken and raspberry vinaigrette and they even brought me a Gfree roll which was wrapped in foil to protect from other items in the oven. Salad was very large, enough for 2 lunches or to split. Will definitely return!

We wanted to like our dinners but they didn’t live up to all the reviews. The food was sub par. They had an extensive gf menu which was great. But we weren’t impressed by our ribs, a chicken or a vegetarian meal. Great customer service from the owner and waitress.

We went for Valentine’s Day/Birthday dinner. We went early but the roasted vegetables soup was delicious. Our server did a nice job of ensuring I felt safe and the bacon wrapped filets were delicious. We also had dessert and the flourless chocolate cake and sorbet were both delicious. Great experience.

This is the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Gluten free menus with a good variety of options. We even had gluten free rolls brought out an an appetizer upon request. They were amazing. They had gluten free desserts on the menu (but I didn’t have room to try any!) I got the Thai One done GF with rice noodles. My daughter, who is also GF got the ribs. Everything about my experience was just wonderful.

The place is a little bit pricey but they are very dedicated to safety. The manager even came out and talk to me and made sure everything was OK. It is very comforting to know that I am safe.
