NOT Celiac friendly, or suitable for a wheat allergy at all! I went there and the manager came and explained how all their sauces are gluten free and they deep cleaned the grill and everything. I got extremely sick and checked their website. Apparently just about every sauce contains wheat, but they claim that it is fermented so it contains less than 20 ppm. I definitely wouldn't have trusted that if I had read it before hand. As far as cross contamination the noodles are at the beginning of the line so everything after has chance of touching gluten. Tasted great but NOT GF.
Staff are knowledgeable, make sure you clearly communicate if it’s an allergy and not a preference. The cooks will take the extra time to clean the cook spot thoroughly and the completely block it off from food cooking adjacent to yours. All the sauces are clearly labeled so you control what sauce goes on your food. Staff have all been very kind and professional. Never been glutened here.
HuHot does not have a gluten free menu but does have an allergen list and a list of gluten free sauces. Ask them to clean a spot on the grill and use different utensils, if necessary.
I wish I could recommend this place. They appear to be trying to be GF friendly, but the risk of cross-contamination is still quite high. As far as I can tell, they have made the switch to all GF sauces, and they will clean off a section of the grill for you and use dedicated utensils if you ask. However, their rice noodles are right next to their wheat noodles, and do occasionally commingle. It's my kids' favorite place to eat out, but I have gotten sick on multiple occasions.
Fast, cheap, healthy. They will clean off a section of grill while you watch before cooking your food. I just give them a heads up that I have an "allergy bowl" before I start loading up, and they usually have the grill cleaned off before I get there. They'll designate one cook to handle your food, building a wall for you food using clean spatulas and using different utensils.
I've been going for years, and *one* time they accidentally used the wrong spatula on my food while I wasn't looking. (They were *very* busy.) They immediately scraped off the grill and asked me to bring a new bowl up and skip the line.
I've also been told that if I was uncomfortable with cross-contamination from menu items coming from a buffet, I can ask to have fresh ingredients brought from the back. They do a good job of arranging GF options on the other end from common allergens.
A great option for gf dining. Every time we've gone they clear/clean a spot on the grill to keep mine safe. They clearly label sauces, and most all ingredients except for the regular noodles are safe (and they do have rice noodles!) I really enjoy my meals here.
The staff does their best and I was impressed with how clean they try to make everything for people with allergies. If you ask for allergy menu, they will give you a yellow bowl and a full laminated chart of all their food. The cooks scrape and wash the grill the best they can, use clean utensils, use clean dividers, and clean their hands before touching your food.
That said, it is a buffet.
There is a huge selection of single ingredient food to choose from. The GF sauce are marked and are together at one end of the sauce bar to avoid cross contamination from drops of other sauces. The cooks will separate your food entirely upon request, and toppings are single item servings as well
All sauces are gluten free. The pad Thai noodles are gluten free. When you go up to them to cook let them know gluten allergy. They were amazing at making sure that the cross contamination was not happening. When I went up they knew right away and asked me to double check. They were amazing with helping me ensure I can still eat here and not worry about what I could eat. Employees here are amazing
