Loved the fries! Very good food. My daughter and husband both loved their shrimp.

The shrimp skillet and fries were delicious. They use peanut oil for frying and do not put gluten in the frier. Their French fries are massive! Very simple outdoor spot with no frills, bur they do their food well and it’s right by a marina.

This place was great! I felt really comfortable eating here and the food was delicious. There were a lot of gluten free options and staff were friendly and helpful.

A fish restaurant that doesn’t even serve breaded, fried fish! Yay! I had skillet shrimp, Peruvian style. It’s a sweet, mustard glaze. And their signature hand cut fries, which I was not a fan of. I just like crispier fries.

This is the safest place on the island for a celiac. Their friers are not contaminated. They actively try to keep everything as safe as possible. They take allergies very seriously. Just be sure to ask for a plastic straw and they will accommodate. 🙂

This is a great place The owner was very knowledgeable about which items on the menu were gluten free and how to make them dairy free as well. I had the shrimp skillet with Peruvian seasoning and it was delicious. The fries are safe too and they were amazing. Definitely a place to go on SPI. One thing that isn't clear on the listing is that they only have outdoor seating.

My go to when at the Island or nearby like today. Love their wings. Unfortunately I just learned their tortillas are not gluten free but there are other safe options well worth the trip, wings and fries. One day I will bring my own gluten free buns for their hamburger which my family love.

A-maizing food! Both myself and my 12 year old daughter are celiac. Everything in the menu is gluten free (except the buns) including the fries!!! That is a big deal for my kid-o. I had mahi tacos w/fries, daughter had burger and fries (brought our own gf bun). Awesome meal by the water. Highly recommend!!!

We love Mahi Nic's! Everything on the menu is gluten free except the buns. So my daughter enjoyed the ribs and hand cut ginormous French fries. They also had yummy hot dogs and the fish tacos with corn tortillas were divine! Only my daughter was celiac but yet our whole group wanted to go eat there twice! It's also right by the water so a perfect stop before/after a dolphin boat cruise or fishing. The owner could not have been nicer!! ♥♥♥

Fries and naked chicken only in the frier!
Was advised that the mahi tacos, shrimp tacos, iron skillet shrimp, nachos, and wings are all safe options.
Will update with how my super sensitive symptomatic kiddo does!
Update: she ate and was fine!!! Back again for more.

Excellent food at reasonable prices. Everything is gluten free except the buns that some meals have. Fryer is safe so you can eat the wings and French fries! Mahi and shrimp tacos are really good and so are the BBQ wings Loved the chipotle sauce the tacos came with. They also have salsa. Walk up order then they bring the food to your table. It’s on the water so great sunset views

This place is awesome. I had a long conversation with the owners, Billy and Wanda. Both are very knowledgeable and also took care of my dairy free. It’s a small place with outdoor seating only. I had Mahi tocos and fries. Also chips and salsa. The fryer is totally GF. It’s not a totally GF facility but I felt totally safe after talking to them. They use skillets so no chance of grill cross. Great seafood menu and on the water at the marina. Overall excellent experience.

Owner knew what celiac is and was able to tell me what was safe. Still true as of this review that nothing is breaded so fryer is safe. Huge portions and good food! Felt good after. So nice to eat with confidence on vacation. I got the mahi nachos and the loaded pulled pork fries to share.

After speaking with the owners, we were very confident about their knowledge concerning gluten-free/celiacs. Many items are gluten-free as-is. Sandwiches can be severed as lettuce wrap or no bun for gluten free as well. The food is outstanding. The staff is friendly. We will definitely be going back.

We were waited on by the owner and he was very knowledgeable about the menu and celiac disease. They do not use breading, so the fryer is safe. The food is amazing and the fries are huge. My celiac daughter had the 8 mile burger (without a bun) and really enjoyed it. Many items on the me u are available for those with celiac or adaptable.

The Mahi without the bun was amazing. Cooked perfectly! The French fries are as wonderful as advertised. They don't batter anything and they showed great care when I said I was celiac.

Was waited on by owner. Asked what he recommended for GF…..tons of options. Very knowledgeable. Very accommodating. Great waterfront outside atmosphere. Food was delicious. I had Peruvian shrimp skillet with fries, coleslaw and a Froze’, which is a frozen rose’. Very refreshing. Hubs had shrimp tacos. We both loved our meals. Owner explained they don’t have anything “breaded” on the menu, which makes the fryer safe. Writing this review 3 hours after consumption….and feel great. Highly recommend.

All i can say about this place is UUUHHH-MAZING! The owners are so friendly and take such good care of you and make sure you have everything you need. The food is so tasty. Everything is cooked in peanut oil. The only thing that has gluten, that we can tell, is the bread for the sandwiches and hot dogs). I’m VERY sensitive to gluten, having celiac, and get very sick even with cross contamination, but no problems here at all. We’ve had the loaded fries (fries are hand cut and HUGE and taste great), Mahi tacos (to die for), blackened shrimp tacos (the best we’ve ever eaten), the piña colada and margaritas. Every single thing we’ve eaten is amazing and we can’t get enough! Thank you to the owners! You have an AMAZING place here. We look forward to coming for the years to come! So thankful we found this little gem!

Got the spaghetti. The guy said that was the only gluten free thing they had beside a 12 inch pizza. He told me I couldn’t have the meatballs which they brought anyway. Then the spaghetti was awful. There was very little sauce and it was basically just eating noodles which I really really hope we’re gf. Would not recommend and will not be back.
Awesome shrimp tacos and delicious large fries in a dedicated fryer. Staff very knowledgeable about what is safe and gluten free. Most importantly there were no symptoms after the meal.

My daughter has Celiac. We ate here while on vacation on South Padre and it was great. She has not been able to have fries for a while but she could here and they were great so she was so happy. The only things they have here with gluten are the buns for the burgers/sandwiches so the frier does not have anything with gluten in it ever. She had the shrimp tacos and loved them with no issues.

I can't say enough good things about Mahi Nate. You are sitting on the dock beside the water. He sometimes has life musicians playing. But the food, yes! The fries are the best I have ever had (gluten or gluten free). He uses peanut oil. The only other thing that goes into that oil is unbattered chicken. I usually have one of the tacos, either blackened shrimp or fish. Last night, I had the Mahi tacos. I need to go here more often. I love just sitting outside on the dock looking at the boats, water, and sunset. Everyone should visit this place at least once.
***update new name is Mahi Nic! Same great menu and food. I love the chicken wings and the burger (no bun) is good too.

Amazing people. Celaic Disease Friendly. Freat food. Nothing breaded on menu. They use peanut oil for the fries. Shared picture of fries order. They have a great menu. Child only wantes fries; had enough left over dinner. Reheated in the oven for few minutes and still rasted great. Only gluten is in the buns. Also, name on building: Mahi Nic
Yes
None of the food in this restaurant is fried, so there is no possibility for cross contamination! The staff was very knowledgeable of celiac disease and told me I could eat everything but their hamburger buns!
I got the Mahi Tacos and they were absolutely delicious!! The tacos come already gluten free, even the fries! They are for sure the best fries I have ever had!! They are huge and delicious!!
The restaurant is now called Mahi Nic and not Mahi Nate, but it is a hidden gem and definitely worth going to when in South Padre!!
