Had a great meal here. The waiter knew how to handle GF needs. The food was delicious. The gouda griys and shrimp was really good but a TON of grits.
Well, one turkey Reuben. The knowledgeable staff asked if I had celiac disease and then wrote that down. They informed me that they would cook it in a separate pan. I also got the grits, which I was very excited about. I’ve been to several places in Galveston, and this may be one of the safest, but it has the most variety.
Service was great, waiter was very knowledgeable about the gluten free menu. My and my daughter (2) are both celiac and she got an omelet with shrimp and cheddar cheese with a side of hashbrowns. I got the patty melt on gluten free bread with a baked potato and it was amazing! My husband and son (both not gluten free) truly enjoyed their meals as well. Highly recommend! There was a whole gf menu anf it was more the 5 items or just salads! Bonus bonus for me!
We came here twice for breakfast on our trip. First day we had sausage, eggs, hash browns and French toast. It was all amazing but the French toast was a bit much with the sugar but still very good. The second day we had the same thing but bacon and toast. The toast was HUGE and delicious with butter and jam on it. I’ve been craving it since. Neither of us got sick and the staff is SO welcoming and very knowledgeable! We can’t wait to come back.
Handled well but the food was not worth the price and everything had so much pepper it was hard to eat. But they were knowledgeable about Gluten and listed the items available and had the manager come over to assure that the kitchen would handle it properly with separate equipment.
They have a separate GF menu, waiter assured me their kitchen staff know how to avoid cross contact, and didn't bat an eye at me saying I needed my food to be gluten free and was cross contact sensitive. Also didn't take issue with my questions or double checking on things related to that, definitely seemed like something they handled somewhat regularly. I had French toast (they have GF bread for this and for their sandwich options), bacon, and subbed out the eggs on my meal for hash browns. Also had a glass of sangria (I was there with 5 other people from out of town for a bachelorette trip). Everything was delicious, and I didn't get sick afterwards! And I do react to cross contact. There was a long wait, so plan for that when you go, we went on a Sunday morning at 10-11am and had to wait an hour for a table, but we were a group of 6 and they were busy. The other girls had called other places and even IHOP had a 45min wait time. The service was great, perfect balance of attentive without hovering too much. It's clear their staff are well trained.
Ordered off of the gluten-free menu and asked the waitress to mark it as an allergy. After eating half of my patty melt, I found a french fry under my sandwich which isn’t on the gluten-free menu so clearly there is some sort of cross-contamination. Could just be an accident but clearly they are not very careful about it.
They provided a dedicated gluten free menu with an excellent variety of options, and they were very careful about gathering allergy information. I am relatively sensitive to cross-contamination and did not have any issues with the food. Shrimp and Gouda grits were incredible!
My experience was amazing! Waiter was not that knowledgeable, but had TWO other employees come by the table that were extremely knowledgeable to make sure we had our needs met. The lady at the front was amazing and went above and beyond for my sons birthday. We are forever appreciative. (Review through the lens of having a child that is both GF and Dairy Free)
No gf menu. I told the waiter that I need gluten free options. He told me somethings. I ordered salad with no croutons and grilled shrimp with no hush puppies. I asked him if I could substitute a piece of gluten free bread for hush puppies. He told me yes for an up charge 😡. The salad came an it had croutons. I had them take it back to make me a new one. The waiter check and he came back and said yes. However, I’m not to sure about that. My ears started burning and throat started get sore. Then the shrimp came out with hush puppies. REALLY? Not a good experience.
I had a wonderful experience today at Miller’s Seawall Grill. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and I was pleased with the answers given about precautions. (Other people have shared these in their reviews, so I won’t reinvent the wheel.)
Ultimately, I ordered the shrimp and Gouda grits. I was told that the grits do have Tony’s seasoning in them (which is not certified GF), but I have used Tony’s at home for years without issue and felt comfortable with this. These were some of the best shrimp and grits that I have ever had! The shrimp were incredibly flavorful, and the blackened onions only added to their deliciousness. The grits were also smooth and creamy, and avoided that gritty, dirty taste that some folks’ grits have. I was also thrilled that their sweet tea is actually sweet and made with real sugar instead of corn syrup or other sweeteners.
The price point was also great and in my opinion less expensive than the quality i received. Most people could probably make two meals from the entree that I ordered.
I can’t wait to return and try new things! It will definitely be in our regular restaurant rotation.
I absolutely LOVE Miller’s Seawall Grill! So much that we just ate there every morning of our recent trip to Galveston. I am celiac and have to be careful of what I eat and owner Sherry Smith was able to guide me on what was safe and even volunteered the precautions the kitchen takes to provide gluten free food. I had the GF cinnamon french toast all 4 mornings and even brought an order to go home w me. This is not the soggy bread french toast I was expecting. This had a delicious cinnamon sugar coating and I didn’t even add the maple syrup provided. It was perfect just as it was served.
I am very sensitive to cross contamination and I had zero issues any of the days! I made sure to
let the waiter know I needed the GF version and everyone that worked there seemed to have a very good understanding of the need to be cautious. I wanted to order the smoked Gouda grits, but our waiter informed me that the grits contain Tony Cachere’s Seasoning which doesn’t include gluten ingredients, but is made in a facility that handles gluten containing ingredients. I was impressed by his knowledge and concern to keep me safe!
Oh my goodness!! GF Delight!! Dinner was amazing last night and all fixed in separate pans to avoid cross contamination... flounder & shrimp excellent!
Breakfast... GF French toast... no syrup needed. Absolutely the best I've ever had!
They can fix just about anything in the menu GF. Promises of seperate pans and utensils.
Amazing staff, great views and GF for the win!
We decided to try this place after reading the great reviews. Waited an hour as the place was packed. The waiter said he was celiac and would ensure everything would be safe without cross contamination. I ordered an omelette, hash browns and the cinnamon French toast. My son who is also celiac ordered an omelet and hash browns with toast. We were even told they had a separate toaster for our gf bread. The order came and had biscuits on top. The waiter took it back and he said they were remaking everything. The food tasted pretty good. We both ended up getting sick. It’s the only thing we ate and we were glutenated. I would not recommend the place if you have celiacs. We are both so sick and on vacation.
While they didn’t have a gluten free menu, our waiter Nico was great to make sure my meal was cooked separately!
A great restaurant, NOT a tourist trap. Had several meals: Breakfast was eggs, bacon and hash browns. I then asked about GF Bread and was surprised our water said yes. In fact, the owner takes GF seriously. She orders their breads from a GF bakery in Santa Fe. Absolutely delicious!! Tasted like real bread! The next day for dinner I ordered their famous Smoked Gouda Grits with Shrimp, Mushrooms and Onions - all GF. Absolutely the best!!
Asked for the manager. She was amazing. Even suggested an item that was not on the menu but one that some of the regular customers enjoy. It was a great recommendation. She even knew that one spice combo used was not made in a dedicated GF facility. No one seems to know those details, but she did. She said you should always ask for the manager at any restaurant when ordering because that is what they get paid to do. It’s nice to hear that because sometimes people roll their eyes and think you are trying to be difficult. I would go back for sure!
I cannot believe this restaurant is not on the Find Me GF app. What amazing service for those of us who are gluten-free! We asked the hostess if Miller's had a gluten-free menu. She replied that the server would be happy to assist us. We came for breakfast and really didn't need much assistance. Our niece was with us and she ordered Eggs Benedict. Our waitress, Kristy, immediately made sure our niece was not gluten-free because of her selection. We asked how she knew. The hostess communicated this to her! We questioned her further and found they have dedicated pans in the kitchen. Per Kristy, the kitchen staff is very knowledgeable and will modify just about any dish to be gluten-free. We highly recommend this restaurant based on their care and concern and will call it celiac friendly. By the way, the food was absolutely wonderful. I had shrimp and grits for breakfast. Sensational!
