I have celiac disease and I am super sensitive and I never got a reaction from here. I told the waiter that I am allergic to gluten so he let me know what could be made gluten free. I ordered the shrimp tacos and my fiancée ordered the suiza enchilada also gluten free for me to try. Shrimp tacos were great. The enchilada was a little too spicy for my liking but perfect for my fiancée who enjoys spice. Food was great and service was great!
Waiter and team were very knowledgeable and directed me to the safe items. Not celiac safe for all the gf items in the menu, lots of cross contamination.
This place had fantastic food. I called before and the manager said most everything could be made gluten free and let server know. When we arrived, I spoke to server and he said he would make a note for all dishes my son and I ordered to let the kitchen know. When our food came out, he brought it out separate from everyone else’s. And it was all delicious.
Phenomenal food. The service was great and celiac sage items were clearly marked. I loved that they asked if I was celiac versus just “gluten friendly”. I had chips with salsa and guacamole, tacos, and corn. It was all so good I went back again the next night and had a carnitas bowl. They also had s fun selection of margaritas and non-alcoholic drinks. Definitely recommend.
Food was excellent. GF items on the menu are clearly marked and everything GF we ordered did not make me sick. There were some off menu items being offered (e.g. special tacos) while we were there and the server was very knowledgeable as to what was GF for the off menu items, as well. Great and safe dining experience
My favs - the mushroom taco and passion fruit mango ceviche was incredible
This has always been my go-to place living in San Diego and coming back to visit. We came back last night after like 10 months of being gone and basically our waiter said that there was VERY little on the menu that was truly celiac safe. He said all of the tacos were cross contaminated because of the melted cheese they put on the tacos. I tried to order the steak plate and he said that the steak seasoning had gluten in it (even though it’s marked as GF on the menu) and he even said that the chicken was marinated in soy sauce. So the only taco I could have had was plain pulled chicken or plain carnitas.
So I ended up ording a side of rice, a side of esquites corn and a side of carnitas meat. It was delicious but I HIGHLY recommend you ask for a manager to fully explain everything because we found it a bit confusing and also contradictory to the menu. So best check to be safe.
Great experience! Most of the tacos are gluten free and they are really good. Waiter was really careful with cross contamination and recommended against anything fried as there is no dedicated fryer. Also said to be careful with the tortilla chips as he said that some coeliacs have eaten them and been fine but the packaging they come in don’t specify ingredients or allergens so would recommend not eating those if you are coeliac or very sensitive to gluten.
