My wife and I both got food poisoning here today. It was the only thing we ate and we didn’t have a single thing in common.
These were not symptoms if celiac from what I can tell. Please avoid this restaurant at all costs. We traveled from Boston to go to a Rainforest Cafe and it really ruined our trip.
My experience here was absolutely awful. I asked to speak to the manager regarding options for celiac since I’m recently diagnosed and still figuring out what’s safe and what’s not. My waiter waved his said and said not necessary and I could just let him know what I was allergic to. I let him know I had celiac and couldn’t have gluten. I would have LOVED suggestions as to what was gluten free since the menu doesn’t specify. I ended up going the safe route with taco salad and it was so bland and TERRIBLY overpriced. Literally paid $22 for a bag of shredded iceberg lettuce with a half cup of beef on top and a sprinkle of cheese. Later learned they could have done gluten free pasta, but again, I had NO suggestions from server and the manager came over after I had received my meal. It was very disappointing and very frustrating as I was so excited to try Rainforest Cafe for the first time with my family. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone with Celiac. The food is NOT worth the price. Would avoid at all costs as they were also incredibly inattentive forgetting to bring a box for my SIL and they also completely forgot to bring my niece her apple juice, and never asked if we needed refills.
Le serveur a vérifié avec la cuisine, ils ont échangé les choses que je ne pouvais pas manger pour autres choses. Jai mange un burger ave du riz.
Helpful staff , great meal and gluten free bun was tasty.
Very good experience. My daughter is celiac and they were extra careful and knowledgeable.
Friendly staff and options that could be adjusted to be gluten free. Daughter had the option of gf pasta with different sauces, gf hamburger and bun or grilled chicken, 4/5 of the kids menu sides and ice cream for dessert. Nachos were not gluten free and no dedicated fryer but daughter was happy with the options.
Nothing is marked gluten free/friendly on the menu. Asked my server and she indicated I could have chicken (not beef) nachos, a hamburger with a gf bun, or pasta. I opted for the chicken nachos and the portion was very large and they were pretty good. The waitress advised that the nachos wouldn’t be served with the beans and she confirmed that the nacho chips were okay because sometimes they change the chips they use. A Manager came to the table to confirm the gluten free order wasn’t just a preference and to advise that precautions would be taken. Overall, pretty satisfied with the experience. It has been 24 hours and I do not have any symptoms of consuming gluten.
Loved the food. Waiter was knowledgeable and personable. I usually never go out to eat because I think it’s playing Russian Roulette at most place but I have eaten here 3 times and each time it was excellent and I did not get sick.
They have a small gluten free menu (buns & pasta) but it’s delicious. Waiter advised us even though they have a dedicated frier it is not recommended for celiacs since the baskets are not dedicated to a certain frier. He recommended the fruit or veggies as a side instead of fries. He double checked with the chef about the pasta & reconfirmed it’s safe for celiacs before ordering. He also brought out her pasta separately to avoid any cross contamination. Food was good & safe for my little celiac.
When we arrived and told our server of our celiac disease, she brought us gluten-free menus. There were multiple options for appetizers, entrées, and desserts and she was able to answer our questions. After we placed our order, a manager came out to speak to us to confirm that everything we had requested was, in fact, gluten-free. He also confirmed that the fries have a dedicated fryer. Everything was delicious and my kiddo was delighted that fries were an option. No reaction for either of us.
I wanted to let you know that the restaurant offers gluten-free options on the menu. I decided to try the anaconda pasta, and it was delicious. However, shortly after leaving the restaurant, I started experiencing stomach pain. I'm not sure if there was cross-contamination or if some of the ingredients in the pasta were not safe for me. I would advise anyone with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity to be cautious when trying their pasta. Additionally, I found that the waiter who served me was not as friendly as the other waiters. Although I mentioned my allergy when making the reservation, the waiter did not inquire about it, so I wasn't sure if she was aware. It would have been better if the staff had communicated with me about my allergy.
We chose this place because of reviews on this app. I am a highly reactive Celiac so once we were seated I informed the server about needing a GF menu. No menu but he immediately went to get the chef to take my order and ensure I had a safe gluten free dinner.
We ordered a Beef Lava Nachos appetizer. I talked with the chef about the chips and seasonings and was reassured they had a separate fryer for chips and fries and the seasonings and nacho sauce were safe for me.
I ordered a Rainforest burger on GF bun with bacon and side of fries. Chef again reassured me bacon and fries would be safe for me with Celiac.
I also order Raspberry Lemonade Freeze with sugar encrusted rim---very tasty and in a big glass!
All the food tasted great! ! The GF bun did not fall apart (which is a huge deal! Iykyk) and burger was thick and cooked exactly how I wanted. After eating some of the appetizer I couldn't finish the hamburger. I took half back to the hotel.
Hubby and I shared the nachos. The order is huge. Easily could have fed 4-5 people. We couldn't finish it together. I didn't get sick at all and I had leftovers for later!
They take food allergies very seriously. They ask at check-in, the wait staff ask again after introducing themselves, then bring out a separate GF menu. If there is something you prefer on the regular menu they will try to make substitutions to accommodate. The chef came out to personally take my order on a specialized allergy order pad. It has the top 5 allergens to check off then a space to right in any other allergies. I have celiac plus I’m allergic to wheat, dairy, soy & egg. The chef was very nice and made my meal exactly as requested. I often end up bloated from eating out, my allergist thinks it is from preservatives in processed foods, but I did not have any issues last night after eating the Anaconda Pasta minus the cheese. I wish all restaurants took as much care in serving safe meals!
When I told the server I couldn’t have gluten he informed me that the chef would come and discuss my options with me. The chef came out and expressed all the things on the menu I could have and substitutions he could make and confirmed they have a dedicated fryer. Great experience!
