Couldn’t eat there because their handicap elevator doesn’t work. Very difficult for those in a wheelchair to eat when there are steps up to the seating

Gluten friendly menu. I mentioned to the waitress that I have to eat gluten free and she had the manager come over to answer any questions on food items. I ate the filet with salad and baked potato. Since it was mentioned that they have gluten free bread, I asked and turned out to be a hamburger bun toasted. Still tasted good. Other then feeling full, did not feel ill after eating dinner. Portions were a good size so if you are hungry you will be full. We weren't able to reserve a table online but called about an hour ahead and were placed on a wait list by giving your phone number.

Our server was able to show us a GF menu. I had the grilled chicken and herb rice. It was delish and I did not get sick. I am a Celiac. Our waiter was so sweet. Got me GF warm bread so I wouldnt be left out while everyone was eating their bread and I didn't even ask :)

The kitchen manager approached the table after I requested a gluten free menu from the server and clarified whether it was an intolerance or Celiac and explained how they would cook the dish separately in a frying pan and finish it off in the oven. Then he went over which sides would be safest and measures to avoid cross contamination which made my experience there such a relief. Not to mention the steak was cooked to perfection-medium-and exceptionally juicy and well seasoned!

My review is solely based off of the food available. The ridiculous weight time (45min became 2hr), no one answered the phone to make reservations, rude hostess, website didn’t support reservations, then told we need reservations…none of that is reflected in rating.
They do have a GF menu and it has plenty of selections. Our server, Gino, was knowledgeable and on it. Honestly, between Gino and the dinner, we quickly forgave the wait.
I had the Range Rattlers appetizer, 12oz Ribeye, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. All delicious! I was not glutened.
Bonus: Good drinks and nice wine selection.

We tried this place on a whim and it did not disappoint. We got the potato soup, house salad with no croutons, 12 oz pat’s ribeye w/ mashed potatoes, and grilled shrimp. We explained to the waiter that I was gluten free and he did an excellent job of informing us what was gluten free and what I could alter. Another review said the soup was GF so we got a bowl and it was delicious. The steaks are all gluten free. The salad w/ no croutons was GF. My husband who is not GF ordered the shrimp and enjoyed his food. I’m not sure if it was GF or not. That also came with rice which I’m sure wasn’t GF. Overall it was a great experience. The food was amazing. Even our two year old ate the sliders w/ no bun and devoured the French fries. I’d definitely recommend as a GF option.

Spoke to a manager on the phone who they do their best (separate color-coded utensils, cleaning the grill, and using a designated area of the grill for GF) to avoid cc. Menu is limited (and due to Covid, three or four meals were not available on the menu), but enough variety to choose from. They use Udi’s buns (not the best out there) for burgers, but it’s better than nothing. The “traditional” burger was very good (I’m not typically a burger person, but it was delicious) and I got steamed broccoli on the side (shared fryer, so fries weren’t an option). No issues whatsoever afterward (sensitive celiac). Great stop along the Riverwalk!

They have a gluten free menu. I had a delicious steak with garlic mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad w/o croutons and did not get sick. I think this place is a chain in Texas but the food was really really good and they were good about gluten free.
Yes
Good understanding of coeliac (we brits spell it differently) had the salmon on one visit and a steak on the next. Both delicious.
Yes
Separate menu that I had to ask for which had a few things to offer.

Upon arrival, I asked about a gf menu and talked about cross contamination. The manager was very helpful and said that they did all they could to make it safe for individuals with celiac. The food was delicious and didn’t have any issues. In fact, we went back the second day while we were in the area. Same good experience, different waitress...very knowledgeable.

Server was very busy... so busy he set down a plate of bread before I could get a word in. Told him I had Celiac Disease and he looked at me like I had a third eye. After a few words, I got a Gluten FRIENDLY menu. Can't guarantee no CC but food was EXCELLENT. I got the cross-cut streak, loaded with grilled mushrooms and garlic mashed potoates. Our appetizer was the Range Rattlers and it was spicy but DELICIOUS! Definitely enjoyed this place (besides the over-busy waiter).
Yes
Good menu and our waiter was knowledgeable about my requests. Steak was amazing.
Yes
Food was very bland and terrible. We ordered the ribs and shrimp. Shrimp was amazing. The ribs were terrible. They came plain. No seasoning, no bbq sauce. NOTHING. The waiter said that’s how they come when you order gluten free. They did give us a hamburger bun and butter instead of the regular roll they serve to customers.
The manager came to our table to answer our questions. Their BBQ sauce is gluten free and they have a delicious gluten free roll as well. Rather slow service but delicious food. I have celiac so my “allergy” is severe.
Yes
We had a fantastic experience here. All of my family members have multiple allergies and we were treated very well. Clint the manager came to our table and was very knowledgeable about what would work for us and gave us good guidance. Our server,Madison was an absolute joy! She bought olive oil out for my son's so they could dip their GF bread in something as they both have dairy allergies. I had the ribs and loved them
Great menu options and friendly staff.

This restaurant was very accommodating! Offered gluten free bread as appetizer (udi's bun) and has a full gluten free menu. Manager came out also to double check. They made sure everything was correct also. Great food!!!

Very inviting. Good understanding of GF. Manager, Keith, came and talked me. Assured me they take GF very seriously. Filet was excellent.
incredible gluten free dining experience! when I told my waiter donnie about my gluten allergy he immediately relayed the information to the manager keith, both were very knowledgeable and made my dining experience superb!
Yes
Gf menu. Waiter put croutons on my salad and then RAN to get me a new salad. Lots of options.
Yes
Disappointing, the ribs where GF but didn't taste that much. The steaks though where really tasty. The service wasn't that good.
The manager came how to ask if I had Celiac, so they could then guide me through everything. She even had a fresh batch of veg made because their regular veg uses a margarine blend that has a binder!! They have a robust GF menu. Definitely recommend. Service was a bit slow, but I'm so happy they cared I was safe. :)

Gluten free menu was pretty easy to navigate. Food was wonderful. Server was knowledgeable. The most important part... I didn't get sick. It was a success and I would definitely go back.

Can I do a negative star rating? What a disappointment. I took my daughter in law and her friends - all military - here based on the great comments and regret it. The service was poor ( water 25 minutes for my drink which was bottled water, and when I received it it was sparkling not flat. When I was finally able to flag down my waiter and advised him, I wanted another 15 minutes...them was told I needed to wait for him to do other things first. My GF steak salad had no dressing. Server, kitchen and management totally clueless about GF meals. My daughter never received half her meal. He lost our credit card and insulted one of my party. Boo. Management was apologetic but took 15 minutes to come. And the server tried to argue with her! There are many lovely restaurants on the riverwalk. Don't go here.

waiter immediately brought out manager, they checked on what I could eat. no, fries here are not gf, but tasty sweet potato was. excellent service
The wait staff and managers answered all my questions regarding their gluten free menu. Regretfully, not all items shown on the menu (French fries) are not gluten free (not a dedicated fryer, shared with all fried items). However, the manager assured me and my daughter (both with Celiac) that the steak kabobs and garlic mash potatoes were GF (the manager had the chef clean the grill prior to preparing the steaks). Our food was very good and the other members of our family raved about their food. This was our first trip to Saltgrass, and San Antonio plus our first trip since being diagnosed with Celiac. We will be visiting again in the future because of our experience.

Great staff. Very knowledgeable. Pretty big menu to choose from and when I said I had celiac the manager came out and talked to me. They cleaned the grill for me before cooking my food. Awesome dinner!
I was excited about their having a gluten-free menu but not everything on that menu is actually safe to eat. The server and manager took seriously my needs based on my having Celiac disease and they returned after taking my order to inform me that the potato soup and green beans (really?) were not safe for me to eat. Salmon was dry and they had a hard to getting my friend's steak cooked properly. They took a LONG time to bring out the food! Only ice cream for dessert.
Yes
nice staff. no way I'd eat here. no dedicated equipment. they just rasp the grill. eeeek!
No
Went to dinner with family while on a trip. Manger came out and explained not only what I could eat but also how they would prepare the food to ensure I did not get glutened. Was great to know that he was going to prepare it on a separate grill. Said they plan to have a GF menu in near future. Only one down-side...no GF dessert...but not a deal breaker. Would go again in a minute.

My husband and I both ordered Maudeen's Center Cut Filet and it was divine. Best steak I've had in ages! The chef came to the table to let me know what I could safely order and he told me that they're working on a gluten-free menu, but it's not ready yet. (As of December 1, 2012) I was treated very well there by the staff and chef, even though it was a busy Saturday night. They were very considerate and accommodating of my needs. The chef seemed to understand about cross-contamination and let me know that he would fix my food on a separate grill. Next time I'm in San Antonio visiting the Riverwalk, I'd love to go back and have dinner here again! www.saltgrass.com

gluten “friendly,” as they have a separate gf menu but I am unsure of their efforts to eliminate cross contamination in the kitchen. Steaks are prepared gluten free. Full disclaimer: I did get sick after eating dinner here, but it’s possible I could have gotten glutened at the restaurant at which I had lunch.

Honestly… it was food, it was fine. Nothing amazing stood out about it. Nothing was bad about it either. They were busy, server did what she had to do and nothing else. No one got sick (3 celiacs) so I would call it a fine experience.
