1 gf dessert, but lots of healthy, gf entrees and the staff is knowledgable about celiac sprue.
ordered gluten free, not sure staff really understood. Pretty sure got cross contami ation here as was sick after.
Ehh. Gf menu looks good but Not great food. If I have to pay extra for GF, I want my food to at least taste good. Didn't get sick but didn't really enjoy eating here.
The good - had Jack Omelette with home fries bacon and GFree toast - no symptoms. The not-so-good. Server was nice but slow. Food Pretty mediocre. For the money not worth a visit.
Even though they clearly notate GF entrees on the menu, the waitstaff doesn't understand. I have been there many times and never had the food delivered correct the first attempt. Disappointed, especially for a place that prides themselves as allergen friendly.
Great gluten free choices, including pancakes and french toast, and you can sub gluten free bread on a number of other items. Great for kids!
The service was very poor And the food was ok at best. I would not go back.
hit or miss. . not wheat allergy safe
Perhaps breakfast is the best choice. Not sure the griddle is dedicated. I ate there for dinner twice - did not have pancakes. I had trouble afterward.
Fantastic g free choices ... My kids and I each enjoyed our g free pancakes and French toast ... And nitrate free bacon and sausage. It is expensive, but worth it apart from the g free menu because they use locally sourced fresh food.
Gluten free pancakes and gluten free French toast yum! Great ambience with oldies and fun music. Friendly staff.
had the quinoa coconut pancakes. they are wonderful! service was great.
Although they have several GF items I consider "converted" GF (pancakes, etc.), I have found that they have a poor knowledge of the gluten content of the remainder of the menu. I called the main office and their staff was extremely friendly and able to look up details of various items on the menu. Per the home office, each store manager has access to a "master book" that identifies each item on the menu. Unfortunately, this location could not locate theirs when I visited. I also got the impression that the wait staff had a very poor understanding of gluten. Prior to my diagnosis this was one of my go-to spots, so my rating is with a heavy heart . . .
Actual breakfast food! Gf kids French toast was awesome!!
Superb! Outstanding atmosphere of an oldies diner and wonderful food-breakfast food too. i ordered the pancakes and my husband the french toast. Mmmm. Both delicious. Will be back to try the burgers. :-)
First time I could actually eat breakfast food at a restaurant! The coconut French Toast was awesome. Will Def be back
This modern take on the old time diner is a gem. Delicious food, friendly staff, and total awareness and sensitivity to GF. They serve Van's waffles, which are great. However - some normally GF items, like breakfast potatoes, are coated with breading. Make sure to ask!
I ordered a vegan dish (rice and veggies) thinking it might be a safer choice, given that there are few gluten free items available. I let the wait staff know about my need to avoid gluten and talked a bit about cross contamination, but several hours later I realize gluten was definitely in my food. I do not recommend this restaurant if you have celiac or are sensitive to gluten. Unfortunately I don’t think the staff is trained at all for food allergies, other than to possibly alert the chef.
Menu well marked for GF and looks like a lot of choices - including substitute GF bun or GF bread. No sickness afterward. We had the awesome vegetarian chili, which was just a little spicy but not so much to be detracting, and shared an order of lamb meatballs, which were nicely spiced, nice texture and served on a bed of wilted spinach. The soup states GF without crackers and we added, for a price, GF bread which came perfectly toasted and was very good bread. The Silver Diner is accessible to the A, B and C concourses but not to D or E. Pity since we usually fly on Delta out of the D but just happened to be on Southwest this time. Good but I don't think we'd go through security twice for it!
The staff isn’t very knowledgeable about celiac or what is truly gf or cross contamination. However, they have gf items on the menu and if you are clear with the servers about your needs they are great about making sure you have your food as you need it. I’ve eaten here a number of times—never got sick or felt bad afterwards.
Good in theory, dangerous if you have the wrong person. I kept asking if my to-go order was GF. I asked for veggies with my burger. It came out with fries and a regular bun. Despite repeating several times that I am allergic to gluten, she didn’t seem to care.
Giving a 5 star simply because it is in the airport and there are slim pickings, especially at breakfast! I ordered two eggs with a side of bacon to go and the staff was very knowledgeable. I did not get sick and it was really nice to have something to eat that early in the morning
It’s not often you find a diner that is so gluten-friendly! They have a great GF menu, even gluten free French toast! I had the quinoa coconut pancakes with a side of bacon and a scrambled egg and had no issues. Everything was delicious and the diner itself is neat!
Great food and good service. The waiter knew what celiac disease was, and the manager (who was gluten intolerant) came out to talk to me to let me know their gf practices. They do not have a separate kitchen, but they will wipe down the grill and do glove changes. I was told that they have a dedicated toaster.
My sister and I ate her when we were stuck at the airport for an extra two and a half hours. We found the server to be very knowledgeable about precautions. They clean the grill/griddle, change gloves, and the toast has its own toaster. The GF bread was quite good. I gave fewer stars because our server forgot my sister's shake entirely and our meal came out missing toppings. I'd eat here again as I didn't get sick from the food.
They have gluten free buns for their awesome hamburgers!! I had a side salad instead of fries. I am sure their kitchen is not a gluten free environment so I made sure to take my Gluten cutter pill before I ate (to help in cross contamination issues). You can get those at CVS!
This diner was a great find! So many gf options. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and checked on an item she wasn’t sure about. Our group of 4 are all gluten intolerant and had no issues afterward. I had the turkey platter and the rest had burgers on gf buns.
I didn’t felt safe -staff wasn’t knowledgeable of gluten free diet/items on menu. I was told to look for gf on the menu. Children’s menu gf choices- gf spaghetti and lamb meatballs (no information if they were gf), quinoa pancakes, and grilled cheese sandwich. Adult had very few choices with gf by it. I had to ask if they could make my daughter, 9, a gf cheese hamburger from adult menu - it wasn’t marked as gf item. I was told that a gluten free bun cost extra. Order came cheese wasn’t on the hamburger, my barbecue sauce for Barbque burger was missing - I asked for it to on the side, and daughter’s requested mayonnaise was missing. They never came to offer refills, if we needed anything, or ask if we wanted dessert. I had to flag down the waiter to get my bill. The restaurant was at quick pace but not “bust”.
The quality of food & service has gone downhill. We go to this diner every time we're in the area. This time the servers acted like they didn't have a clue. The food just wasn't as good this time. Yes they had some gluten free options but it wasn't very good. I was disappointed.
Went in for breakfast early on Sunday morning. Ordered a GF breakfast and asked them to please do an allergy alert or whatever was needed to ensure GF. Within an hour, I was very sick. This was serious cross contamination and put me down for over a day. I have eaten at other SD locations without an issue but we definitely will never be back to the Woodbridge store.
Our waiter was knowledgeable about basic gf but for the tougher questions he was willing and did ask his manager any questions we had. We had the warm roasted local veggie salad and the philly steak omelet. Both were great. We also tried the brownie decadence dessert which was amazing!! The brownie had a nice flavor and texture and was loaded with ice cream, whipped cream, hot fudge, caramel, and two cherries on top. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars was the menu was a bit confusing. Some things were labeled gf, some things stated ‘do this — — to make it gf’, but some things, like basic fruit, weren’t labeled at all while other basic things were. Most of our questions stemmed from not understanding the menu labeling and whether or not things were gf. Our waiter was able to clarify our questions but it shouldn’t be that difficult. Overall we were very satisfied with our food and my boyfriend didn’t get sick so win-win!
This is my go-to spot for safe burgers & breakfasts! When I was first diagnosed with celiac, I would go to a variety of places and order gf food, but would then get sick. I've always felt good after eating here. They use udis bread/buns and the mashed potatoes are the alternative to fries.
