We love Torchy’s! We have been eating Torchys Tacos for years in Austin and we’re over the moon they opened in Denver! My son and I have the allergy and we make sure we order taco bowls off the GF menu (oddly you have to ask for it at this location vs it being in the menu bins)
Asked for a non-fried avacado taco twice in a row after explaining that my girlfriend has celiac disease. Twice in a row we've had to send it back because they gave us fried avacado in the taco. Even worse, after we make the order and emphasize the gluten free and please don't fry it, they tell us they understand when they clearly dont.
My 2 daughters have celiacs and we have never had an issue eating here. Chips are made in their own fryer so that are gluten free! They usually get chips and guacamole and the bacon, egg, and cheese gluten free tacos. Food is great, service is fast, and the servers and really polite.
I went the other day and I'm SO. GLAD. I got the Baja shrimp tacos. They had queso that looked amazing, but the chips aren't safe so I'll have to bring my own next time. I was a little skeptical at first because when I asked about gluten free the cashier said "gluten cautious" and also didn't automatically make my shrimp grilled instead of fries. But everything turned out well and I've pronounced it my new favorite taco place. Just take precaution like always and clarify before and after you get your food, as it's counter service which usually allows more room for mistakes.
The meat and chicken are both marinated in Shiner bock. The manager confirmed the fish and the chili pork were ok. They do not use a dedicated fryer for chips and they no longer have a gluten free menu. My celiac kids ate cheese quesadillas on corn tortilla and did not get sick.
Never made me sick!! The migas breakfast taco (no tortilla strips) and crossroads are delicious. I do not recommend eating the chips, because there is high risk of cross contamination. Be sure to specify that it's and "allergy" not preference and the staff will let the kitchen know.
We have eaten here many times and have celiac. Not one issue. Their food is fantastic and so is their service.
One of my favorite go-to spots for quick and yummy food. However they are not consistent, so it's a bit risky. Typically I order their chips & salsa, and the Baja Shrimp corn tacos - grilled and no queso (I also have lactose sensitivities). Most times, delicious and no stomach issues but a couple times, I have been very sick post-meal. All I can assume is they are not overtly concerned with cross-contamination.

This is one of my favorite go to places. It's one of the few places I can eat out for basically fast food prices. Service is almost always great. I'm celiac and I never have any issues... OK there was that one time when they brought me my taco with a wheat flour tortilla but it was obvious and I sent it back immediately. That was only one time out of countless times eating at torchy's tacos.

Several GF options, but a lot of cross-contamination. I've eaten here twice. The first time I felt off, like extremely mild contamination. Then the other night I was horribly sick by the time we left. It's two days later and I'm still having major reaction. I very clearly told them it was an allergy, and was reassured they would be careful.
Although not as many options as I would like, they have always been helpful when notifying me of questionable ingredients and even taken special time to make a taco-of-the-month for me! I will say I have gotten sick a couple of times at various locations, but that is also the risk you take when eating out. (Celiac for 12 years)
Good selection and was asked if gf was due to allergy or preference. When I said allergy he noted that on the ticket as well as went back to the kitchen to advise them to change gloves.
The chips aren't GF, even if they say it's OK, they are NOT safe for celiac (no dedicated fryer). Other than the chips, you can order a lot and not get sick, you just need to check with the manager. Some of the UT students who work here are clueless about celiac disease (nice kids, just not trained). If you do have celiac disease, the manager will help you to figure out what you can eat, and will be knowledgeable. They also take precautions for cross contamination if they know you are allergic, and not just a lifestyle GF person. My wife has hyper-sensitive celiac disease, so Torchy's made her nervous the first time. After two times back, she's never been glutened or sick. I give four stars because even though they are celiac able, a lack of GF menus and staff training makes it unfriendly to persons with the disease.
While the food was delicious, as a person with Celiac disease, this was not a good place for me. They do have a gluten-free menu but don't have a designated GF food prep area and apparently my food was exposed to gluten somewhere in the process. I would recommend being very careful ordering here if you need to be absolutely sure to eat gluten free.
Really tasty tacos and chips and queso and they have gf menu online, but I was mildly sick after both times I ate there, so there must have been cross contamination but it was mild. I've had way worse reactions from restaurants, this just made my stomach a little upset for about an hour. I'm very sensitive though, so if you're less sensitive you'll probably be totally fine. Friendly staff, great margs, and the food was really good.
