BEST FRIES IN NEWMARKET. They have a great lunch deal, $15 for a burger, side and pop. The burger was 4oz I believe, but it was the right size for a filling lunch. Their fries are bottomless, and I could not get enough of them. Crispy and salty, but still very potatoey. Our waitress let us know they’re fried in a dedicated fryer, and are cut in house. Their gluten free bun wasn’t my favourite, and fell apart a little, but $1.50 up charge wasn’t the best. They serve the pop in measuring cups, which was neat, and very fizzy. I highly recommend stopping by. The onion rings are very crispy, an extra $4 and not gluten free, but you can hear a very audible crunch.

The BAB burger on gluten free bun was amazing!I asked and the Server said no dedicated fryer for the fries but nobody's reported issues so I tried anyways and ended up with a small piece of fried chicken mixed in my fries that I didn't find until half way through. I dont have symptoms so won't know if I was truly glutened. I'm just on vacation and wanted to try it out. Thought I should let others know as I went based on the reviews !

I was really excited to eat here. It was more run down than I expected. We waited a good ten minutes at the empty host stand before being seated for dinner. We sat down at 6:45 and told our waitress we needed to get our food by 7:30 to make an 8:00 show. She said that should be fine. There is a “gluten friendly” section on the menu but she really didn’t have knowledge beyond that section.
After we ordered, she came back and said that the kitchen was backed up and our food wouldn’t be ready by 7:30. She suggested we get appetizers. There is only one GF appetizer, the basic poutine, so we got it and my 13yo son got a milkshake.
The poutine was fine - I’ve had better. Fries were hot, gravy was warm, cheese was cool in spots. Overall I am grateful to our kind waitress and I didn’t get sick, but the experience was disappointing.
If you go, know that it is barely a step up from fast food and not very fast at that. Allow lots of time! We made it to our show but overall it was a sad GF dinner.

What a gem we found! Great indoor decor - rustic pub vibe. Server was friendly and was knowledgeable of their menu when we told him my mother and I were celiac. 95% of the food toppings were gluten free + gluten free buns
Gravy was even gluten free, so I was able to have fries and gravy for the first time - at a restaurant since being diagnosed
Overall great atmosphere and excellent food. We will be going back for sure and also recommend to others

Excellent food and service. They have a gluten free menu and dedicated fryer for fries. It's a "build your own burger" place so the GF menu list all of the items, toppings, buns and sides you can choose from. I can't remember the last time I had such a flavorful burger with unique toppings. And fries! The food meet every expectation.

Ordered a bunless burger (to save some money) and fries and informed the waitress of my Celiac Disease. Shortly after ordering the manager came out and said “I see you have a gluten allergy and I’m not sure how severe it is but we have a shared frier.” I was so thankful she was so knowledgeable and caught it. She offered another, safe side. The waitress then came back and apologized for not catching it herself and said she was new. I felt very safe eating there and did not get sick.

Had the pulled pork on a gf bun with the steamed broccoli side. Pork was very tender, though I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Smokey BBQ sauce. I enjoyed my meal overall. They have an updated list on the back of their menu of what items and sauces were gluten-free. My waitress was very accommodating - she was willing to change items to make my food gf and double check cross contamination.

I don’t usually like burgers at restaurants because I find the gluten-free bun big and dry. The ones at The Works are just perfect in size and not dry at all. The GF items are clearly marked on the menu. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I have gone twice in the past week and look forward to returning again in the future.

Knowledgeable staff. All toppings and condiments are gf except onion rings. Portion size was good. Dedicated frier and bottomless fry’s. Parking and crowds in general area are terrible on a weekend. Luckily, no wait at restaurant, but no ac in summer. Single stall restrooms. Food was ok, but expensive. GF bun was OK, but works best with smaller burgers. Fell apart on my Kevin Bacon, but worked well on Mary and man-cave

Visited twice since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease March and April 2023.
The server (may have been the owner) was amazing and is educated on Celiac and cross-contact.
Burgers with gluten free bun and Sweet Potato Fries also had a ceaser salad with no croutons. Dedicated gf fryer.
Note: they order GF buns in bulk frozen and individually packaged, you can buy some to take home!

Although a few years ago I gave this place a three star rating I am taking away stars. It has changed and after spending a night and day dealing with reactions to Cc I will change the rating to one. Basically take your chances as both my daughter and I were glutened. The fries are not gluten free but the burgers are amazing and a GF bun option which of course falls apart Update: a month ago they had a dedicated fryer and it was great but tonight the waiter informed us that they now use that fryer for all items so it is no longer gf. Very disappointing. It is still in the menu that fries are gf but they are not. The server was convinced that the fries were gluten free as they are potatoes and only fried with the onion rings đ€Šđ»â burgers were good.

Delicious and safe GF meal! All beef burgers are gf. Gf bun is tasty. I had the B.A.B. burger with bacon added. Was delicious. Many side dish options. I chose fries. (There is a dedicated fryer.) The fries are bottomless, however I couldn't finish the ones that came with my meal. Burger was huge. Great service. Knowledgeable staff. It was $25 dollars for my meal. (Gf bun is $2) Overall a delicious and safe option for a meal at the falls.

Most of the burgers are gf and the gf buns are actually quite good. However, their online allergy guide claims the fries are gluten free, but they are all made in a SHARED FRYER. Luckily the waitstaff knew this and was also very familiar with other allergy prevention measures and answered all my questions. They also have gf beer and cider. Overall I recommend, even though it was hard to watch my friends eat fries without me.

We came to The Works in Pickering with 2 celiac family members. There were lots of gf options (including gravy!), as well as a dedicated fryer and grill. Lots of milkshake options for dessert too. Our server was happy to double check with the kitchen regarding our questions. The food quality was fantastic and huge portions! Would definitely recommend!

Omg! I haven’t had food this good in FAR too long! I have more then just a gluten allergy so I struggle to find food. Well I got their Maple Epicness burger (I don’t remember the exact name but this suits it!) I swapped for vegan cheese, removed the aoli (egg intolerance) and added avocado. Poutine made with sweet potatoes and vegan cheese (potato intolerance) and they were more then happy to accommodate. I even saw our waitress double check our order before bringing it to us with the chef. Ugh it was sooooo good. It was definitely a don’t put it down burger and i enjoyed every, single, bite. Sorry I didn’t take a picture! I was already done 3/4 before I thought of it!
