Got glutened here by getting gf burger with broccolini. Idk what went wrong but don’t come here if you’re celiac or really grill the waiter more than I did. Thought that the waiter seemed understanding but you never know and that was a reminder

So so good! This is a nice restaurant with several gf options. We started with the shrimp cocktail ( it only had 3 shrimp so probably not worth it) and the crab dip (awesome!) I had the shrimp and grits for my meal and creme brûlée for dessert. They also had gf meat loaf, steaks, and fish. They also have a nice kids menu (not gf) but for our family it was nice.

Ordered a gluten free bacon cheese burger with sautéed onions and fries. Confirmed fries were gluten free and in their own fryer, server took my order very seriously and didn't make me feel stupid. Hands down the best burger I've had since diagnosis 8 years ago, to the point it made me emotional. Like others have said, my food was prepared away from other gluten containing food and was brought out by a dedicated server to avoid any CHANCE of cross contact. I can't recommend Clyde's enough.

Best GF restaurant experience I’ve ever had! GF items marked on the menu, service staff asked about any allergies before I even said anything, he confirmed with the chef that they would avoid any cross contamination, and there were even separate food runners for my dish so it wouldn’t come in contact with anyone’s at my table. I had the meatloaf, and it was delicious!

I’ve heard from many folks that this restaurant chain handles allergies and celiac disease with caution. I ordered dinner and an appetizer from the main bar and the bartender wasn’t familiar with celiac disease. I then requested he mark the order as a Gluten Allergy and directly speak with the chef. He immediately came back and stated the chef understood celiac and would ensure no cross contamination with the meal. Agree with most folks that the menu is limited for GF options. However, the green chile shrimp tacos, filet, and garlic mashed potatoes were all delicious. The atmosphere and buildings are historical and beautiful.

We had a party of 6, we eat at here twice in a week. They were very accommodating to GF Two in our party. When we come back we will come back. Great staff and decoration very nice.

Food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. The server asked first thing about food allergies. I ordered a burger and fries. The server asked for them to cook the fries separate to reduce cross contamination as much as possible

Loved this restaurant! Our server (Aretha) was very knowledgeable about what was safe or not. When she wasn’t sure, she’s asked the chef. Chef Matt came out to make sure everything was delicious and it was! He even took my call prior to our visit to answer all my safety questions. It was a great experience!

Gluten-free items are numerous and clearly marked. Wait staff asks about allergies and items are identified verbally when delivered. Had a delicious steak salad with no issues.

Enjoyed a celiac friendly meal here. Waiter immediately asked about allergies. Double checked that fries had own fryer away from bread products. Quality food.

Very limited GF menu, when questioned was told it would be better to stay with labeled GF menu items since it can not be guaranteed otherwise, since kitchen is not gluten free. Very disappointed in this last visit. With smoke detectors going off every 20 seconds x5 it was definitely not the ambiance or nice time that we anticipated when reservation was made for a special occasion. Sadly, we will not be returning.

Definitely gave me a gluten attack. Worst I’ve felt in years. Got their gluten free bun which they must just rub all over their other buns. Do not eat here. I even mentioned to them multiple times the severity

Amazing food and definitely one of the safest meals I’ve eaten. The waitress introduced herself and then immediately asked if I had any food allergies. They take it seriously here and the allergy meal orders go through the two managers and the chef so it’s approved/modified to be gf. The gf buns are delicious and stay together. They can modify most entrees. Fries are fried separately so they are gf safe. The drinks are a little pricy but fun. Delicious food. I will be back next time I’m in the area.

I really appreciated the care they took in ensuring my meal was GF and safe. Delivered by a manager who told me it was prepared in a separate area. Limited marked options on menu but the steak was outstanding.

I've never had anything that isn't delicious at Clyde's. Plenty of GF adult beverages, buns for burgers and sandwiches, a menu with GF markers. You can also mention that it's an allergy and they'll make sure your food is safe. All around fantastic and great service as well!

Good food and even had gluten free bread!
Yes
Mediocre food. I’m GF and the pasta dish was just ok, not very flavorful. My omnivorous partner found both the trout and the French fries were deep fried in scorched oil, tasted burnt. They were good about giving him a replacement meal. They did have good gf bread and butter, although the presentation was off - it looked like a hot dog bun. We won’t be going back.
More gluten free choices and knowledgeable staff. A lot can be made GF. Dedicated fryer for French fries and gluten free baguette and other GF bread. Had terrific mussels, scallops, steak frites and lobster.
Yes
No separate GF menu but GF marked on regular menu. Very knowledgeable staff. Buffalo wings and fries both done in separate GF fryer
Yes
Wish there was more variety but the mainstays are good and safe, including a dedicated fryer for French fries. They even have gf bread for the table

Very accommodating. GF noted on menu. Felt safe here. Food is great too.

Great service and great atmosphere. GF items clearly marked on the menu. Server asked questions about my requirements and made note of my celiac to notify the kitchen to avoid cross-contamination. Meal was brought out separately. No problems afterwards. Really enjoyed the food.

I ate at this location a few weeks ago and I did not have any negative reactions to the item that I ordered, which was labeled gluten-free on the menu. The server was attentive and made sure to communicate my dietary restrictions to the chef.
Yes
Our kids loved the GF pasta, but the fries are no longer safe, which is a huge bummer.
Yes
they used to say they have Separate fryers for wings and for French fries, but not anymore. Don’t know why the change. But there are other GF options on the menu
Yes
The food here is very good but be careful - they don’t have a dedicated fryer (anymore? Maybe never did?). Still a pretty good GF selection though
Staff knows what to do and I’ve eaten here with confidence. Large selection of gluten-free items, and they can make things to order. That because they have actual cooks vs. food assemblers. Highly recommended!
They take a different approach. Tell them you're GF, they check with the chef for that day's menu, you choose and they make it gluten-free They can make almost any c their proteins GF and have many salads & sides that are GF. Lost one star because like do many places they have very few GF desserts. But what they have is spectacular.
Yes
Excellent gluten free meal. Wait staff was extremely knowledgeable about menu, modifications, etc. The chef came out and hand-delivered my meal. The warm gluten free bread & butter was delicious... I had forgotten how much I enjoy the bread before a meal! Overall excellent!
Several years ago, I would have said it was a little dicey eating safely here. But I’ve been very impressed with their care and attention to food allergy and intolerance. I’m glad I gave them another go because my last several meals have been both safe and outstanding.
Their menu changes periodically. They used to have a filet mignon that I was able to get steamed vegetables with. The one thing that really concerned me was that I got conflicting answers on whether their sauces (béarnaise, bordelaise, or chimichurri) have gluten (and dairy) in them. For example, one server would go ask the kitchen and come back and swear that they were safe and a week later, a different server would do the same and tell me they were not safe. I avoided the sauces just because I felt like I couldn’t trust the staff, so I still don’t know whether or not they’re safe. I hate to write this restaurant off because they do have a relatively extensive menu with a variety of GF-labeled options. Just make it very clear to the waiter/waitress that GF is essential; not just a preference.
On our first visit to Clyde’s at Willow Creek, the chef came to our table to ensure we knew our appetizer was not GF. He then offered to make a GF version of the calamari and it was fantastic! The chef discussed options before he went to cook and personally brought my dishes to me. Above and beyond service and the chef has his own fan club now as our entire family was very happy and impressed! I don’t know if that is the standard treatment as it was a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant wasn’t packed.
The staff were amazing! All four of us are Gluten Free, three are celiac. The menu is labeled but they are willing and able to adapt other items as well. They have a dedicated fryer and the fries w their garlic aioli were fabulous. We had the carnitas tacos - so yummy and flavorful. Also a burger on gf bun that was so soft and delicious. The mussels were flavorful and perfect with gf bun to dip in the broth. The steak frites were cooked perfectly too. They also have cider. Perfect lunch for our family after walking miles on college visiting tours. Clyde’s has been around forever (it was a favorite 25 years ago when I was a student in DC) it’s great to see they’ve kept up with the times and are committed to feeding us safely.
Yes
We went based on their gluten free options. They had several gluten friendly options, but only two truly gluten free ones. Many things marked gluten free were cross contaminated because they were fried with gluten.
I ate the salad with flank steak. It was good. The other GF option was tacos. Luckily our server knew about gluten and steered me the right way so I didn’t get sick. I always appreciate that!
The restaurant had a cute, energetic atmosphere. The tables were very close together. Our server was fantastic.
Yes
Iconic place but really not that many gf options. Had burger without bun and it was fine. Didn’t get sick but wish there was more for me
What a great spot to get served more than a salad. Also, more than a cider. Great food and a great staff
Staff takes allergies very serious, confirms ingredients, and more than once has come back to inform whether certain foods were celiac safe.
Yes
I eat a Clydes every 6 weeks with a group. They don't have even one vegan gluten free item. They best they do, is to take and item and remove the offenders leaving the dish, boring and/or not filling or satisfying. I go to meet the group, I would never choose it on my own
