They couldn't understand that I needed clean gloves. In fact, everytime I said I need fresh gloves. I'm gluten-free. They tried to give me a low Carp tortilla but when I asked if it was gluten-free, they didn't know. They finally were able to determine which products were gluten-free. And then proceeded to give me cheese by reaching into the container as opposed to using the spoon. So there is quite a bit of cross-contamination. At this location, it's went downhill.

Daughter is celiac. We have been many times and they have an allergy chart posted for them to see. Only chicken is GF (other meats are not) but my daughter loves it in a bowl! They washed hands and changed gloves. She has not have any symptoms of being glutened.
I asked for the gluten-free menu and ordered chicken on salad. I still got glutened. I suspect that they prepare all the food on the same surface. The employees seemed pretty clueless about what gluten intolerance means.

Good experience, they all changed their gloves and had a sheet telling me what was safe and not safe! Would come back for sure.

Great food. Does not appear to do anything to prevent cross-contamination.

Great taste. Got take out online and given that I had put gluten allergy for the nachos - they called me to talk about the chips, although gluten free they are from a factory that handles gluten products. She put them on the side and opted for a safe chip choice and put the nacho mixture on top.

If I could do no stars, I would. We went on Saturday the 28th of May. The guy guaranteed me that everything was Gluten free. Needlessly it wasn’t. I spent the rest of the evening seriously I’ll. I wouldn’t go here at all ever. Don’t do it. So I am spending Memorial Day in bed, because the pain in my body from being Glutened is horrible. Stay far away from this restaurant.

I alway get one of the bowls here and have never had a problem. I got the pork carnitas a side of chips, both of which tested gluten free on the Nima tester. The steak and the brisket are not gluten free but most other ingredients are.

After being very sick for over a year, I was diagnosed as highly gluten intolerant. I am still adjusting to a gf lifestyle. My daughter and I were out doing errands, and she wanted to stop here. The girl behind the counter was amazing. When I told her about gluten not being my friend, she immediately turned around took off her gloves (even tho she just put them on), thoroughly washed hands and put on new gloves. She also had new scoops. She and the other workers walked me through all the things that were safe.
It's been several hours and no sign of being sick (It usually starts an hour after ingesting)

It’s been a while since I tried to eat here. But that the last time I did, staff didn’t know what Celiac was or what gluten free meant. Was a hard pass for me at the time. That may have changed, but proceed with caution. Also the website listed here is not correct, this Freebirds is not affiliated with the Freebirds chain of restaurants. I don’t think they have a website.

Went here based on the reviews for other locations. The teenagers working seemed confused, but I decided to brave it. I got the carnitas to avoid the grill altogether. Got gluten symptoms a few hours later, probably from cross contamination. Everything I ordered was gf on their allergy menu. Disappointed.

Most things here are considered gluten free, except the tortillas and steak. I always get the nachos and have never gotten sick. (I went to college here for 4 years and have come back every year for 3 years to eat here)

Update. Major thanks to Reed who updated me on the menu. He confirmed everything is GF except the beef - *but* pointed out that the beef and chicken are cooked on the same grill. He also said stay away from the potatoes and bbq sauce. So helpful!

They used to have gf tortillas but recently got rid of them, unfortunately. However, their bowls are awesome! And they used dedicated scoops for each ingredient, unlike chipotle, where I’m always concerned about cross contamination.

Went to This Freebirds on a Saturday and when we mentioned I had celiac Alex immediately went and grabbed (without asking) a allergen menu and changed his gloves. He made my meal the entire time and never made me feel bad at all. He knew immediately what celiac was and I haven’t been this impressed at celiac knowledge in awhile. Food was great and we will definitely be back.

Unfortunately I went to this location and was told all the meat was cooked in Soy. While it is gluten free this place is not soy free. All the meat is cooked in Soy. Just FYI.

Manager knew about celiac and went out of his way to prepare my daughters food. Chicken and seasoned chicken are celiac safe as are the rices, beans and even the chips! Steak and prime rib were not celiac safe.

We have yet to have any issues with ANY Freebirds location in helping our 2 girls who have celiacs.
In our first visit the manager came out and handled our meal themselves. We were super grateful!

Told them I was gluten free, two guys just looked at each other and then said what would you like? I ordered corn tortilla tacos, they heated them up on the same press they use the flour tortillas on. Didn't tell me what options were gluten free as I moved down the line. Food was tasteless and it was overpriced. I can't believe anyone would recommend this place. It's especially unsafe for celiac people.

PEANUT OIL!
I had the nachos and they tasted great. I also have a peanut allergy and I am lucky I asked the right person because I didn’t see that they used peanut oil for the beans and rice. Just a heads up for any one who might have that allergy as well.
As far as gluten free they changed their gloves and helped avoid cross contamination :)

The staff so easily accommodated me- washes hands/arms thoroughly, changed gloves, and used clean serving utensils. He made sure to keep anything of mine separate and was SO friendly and nice about everything. I usually feel some embarrassment but not here. I will definitely come back and I cannot say enough great things about this place!

I ate yesterday and asked the person making the food to change gloves. They politely complied, and started making my food. Someone else then came up and grabbed the tray to finish my order, after explaining to them that I needed them to change gloves because I didn’t know what they had touched, they said “no sorry” and continued making my order. I got very sick after eating dinner am now very cautious to go back to a place I used to enjoy.

I didn’t catch her name. She must have been the manager. She washed her hands, changed her gloves and took care of me herself. She said the only thing fried in the fryers are chips and potatoes. I ate a burrito bowl with chicken, rice and black beans. Chips and guacamole! I stuffed myself. She said the steak is not safe due to seasoning but all the other protein is. She said her cousin has celiac and she’d feed her from the restaurant. So far 0 reaction ! Yeah! So excited about this

Good food and the employee was knowledgeable of cross-contamination protocol for celiac.

I am visiting Texas from Idaho. I am very severe when it comes to gluten. I decided to try Freebirds. I had the kids meal Taco with white meat chicken, black beans, and cilantro lime rice on the corn tortilla. It's tasted great and no reaction. That's a win win in my book.
Like chipotle, there is a risk of cross contamination in the way that the food is served from the large containers. They’re good at changing gloves. They even have vegan options for the vegan in your life. Online, they have a very clear allergy info sheet. Don’t eat the chips or the steak, they’re not gluten free.
Yes
Manager was very careful. Changed gloves and used separate utensils. Chips fried in canola oil in a dedicated fryer. Excellent nachos, no reaction. Highly recommend.

Had a GF bowl and it was delicious!
Have eaten here twice in past month with no problems. Got burrito bowl (no tortilla) with white meat chicken, black beans, Mexican rice, cilantro, lettuce, pico, salsa, roasted peppers and onions, garlic, lime juice, mixed cheese and sour cream. Portion is almost enough for 2 meals. Staff changes gloves when told you have allergy/celiac. More flavorful than Chipotle. Taking off one star since don’t carry corn or other GF soft taco shell or tortilla.

Easy to order but we had a bad reaction to eating here.

My first experience here was great! I wasn’t going to eat anything because I didn’t see any signs about gluten free options but the guy behind the counter encourage me to order a bowl. He quickly washed his hands and changed his gloves and guided me through my options! I had a yummy chicken fajita bowl and a sweet marshmallow treat too.
Easy to order- bowl with rice beans and chicken and toppings. The only things not gf is the steak. Kids eat free on Sundays.

Nachos are a great gluten free option. Add queso for extra spice.
Super allergy friendly. I'm AIP Paleo and the options are abundant. The staff are educated, friendly and helpful. My MIL is celiac and they took every precaution.
