This place has gluten free pizza and several gluten and dairy free topping options, including vegan cheese and buffalo sauce drizzle! You can request a glove change which will make any employee touching your pizza change their gloves before handling it. For GF/DF pizzas they also use a mat under the pizza in the shared oven to minimize contamination. Also, if you are both gluten and dairy free like myself, be sure to ask for a clean cutter from the kitchen. They have dedicated gluten free and vegan cutters at hand, but not one that covers both. That said, the pizzas are prepared on a shared counter and in a shared oven, so I would hesitate to recommend Blaze for Celiacs (hence the four stars). I have never personally had a reaction here, but mine is an allergy, not Celiacs, and I don't usually have too much of a reaction to cross-contamination.
Delicious Gluten free pizza with fresh ingredients. They're basically like the Chipotle of Pizza. Everything is transparent so you can see the conditions/cleanliness. I was very happy with the taste of my meal. As soon as you ask for Gluten free they offer to remove their gloves and are careful to avoid cross contamination.
They have GF pizza dough, and offer to all put on clean gloves when handling the dough. It is still made in the same assembly line and cooked in the same brick oven. I personally did have a negative reaction to my GF pizza. It was also all crunch and not soft at all.
The food is good. However, if your full celiac I wouldn’t recommend eating here since the female employee I had didn’t change her gloves after asking if i wanted gluten free for diet or allergy. I stressed allergy and still no glove change.
The staff was very helpful and understanding. They changed their gloves without me asking and they have the Gf crust on its own mat. They changed gloves before adding my toppings & before cutting the pizza on its own tray with a separate cutter. Delicious.
Greeter host walking the line was nice and informative. First person behind counter was not so nice in fielding my gluten free questions and acted inconvenienced. The crust was uncooked in 3/4 of the pizza, gummy, and had no taste. I would not recommend.

It’s weird because they go pretty far. They’ll change their gloves. They do their GF crusts on different pans, if you ask- they have a separate sauce they’ll use just for the GF crusts. The other ingredients though, cross contamination everywhere.

Gluten free crust makes no difference when everything else comes into contact with gluten. Utensils, toppings, oven... cross contamination is unavoidable. I spoke with a manager about the issue who dismissed my concern and argued "but the crust IS gluten free." Obviously no education about what gluten free really means in this company.

I have celiac and have never had any problems just make sure to mention you need them to change their gloves and to use the red sauce that's separate for gluten free only pizzas.
Staff was knowledgeable about Celiacs. When we arrived we asked to speak to a manager. We were told to tell them at the counter that it was Celiacs and gluten free. Standard procedure is to change gloves, put it on a special mat for the oven, and they have dedicated utensils. But they will also ask you (or you can ask them) to take the sauces and toppings from new containers in the bottom covered cabinets rather than the regular toppings line. Highly recommend doing this! You can also watch the process the whole way to make sure they take your toppings from the right place and don't put it in contaminated areas. Very knowledgeable and friendly. I'm a sensitive celiac and I had 2 pizzas there and did not get sick at all. They take great care as long as you take the time to talk them through all of your allergy needs. Great homemade gf crust too! Can't wait to go back.
Blaze Pizza in Ames has an allergen list and gluten-free pizza crust. All of the toppings are gluten-free except for the meatballs. Blaze Pizza does a great job about changing gloves. The pizza is kept on a mat indicating gluten free so it never touches the same surface as flour. The pizza cutters are also specifically only used on gluten free pizzas. Great service - everyone took extra precaution to ensure my meal was safe of cross-contamination. Basically an $8 pizza with unlimited toppings.
It depends on what time you go in but when I went the servers we all very attentive and competent. Even when one guy messed up my order and forgot to change gloves they restated. They will do a glove change, special baking pan, and use dedicated gluten free pizza cutters. If I got sick at all it was only a gross feeling I my throat, no throwing up.
Amazing gluten free pizza and totally customizable will change gloves for topping bar. There is an issue for cross contamination but I go every other week and I've never had a problem.
Not celiac friendly. They press the GF pizza rounds on the same equipment as the gluten containing versions. Pizza also isn't that good. Save yourself a trip.
When they first opened they were great. now I've seen them use the gluten free dough press for gluten dough during busy rushes. Recently my husband picked up a gluten free pizza for me but I'm pretty sure it wasn't gluten free dough. It looked like a regular pizza. I thought about not eating it but it was marked gluten free. Five minutes in I had stomach pain like I haven't had in years. stay away if you're sensitive to gluten. They advertise gluten friendly options but they are no longer safe!
They have all the right GF procedures in place and 99% of staff know them. Sometimes newbies seem a little overwhelmed, but they know who to ask for help. I eat here like twice a month (or more) and have had excellent experiences each time. Christina is especially awesome at GF!!
This place is awesome! Very attentive to our needs. One of the managers came out to speak to us while we were eating, and I really appreciated her taking that time to do so. We have 4 family members with gluten sensitivities and none of us have gotten sick afterward.
Do not go here if you have celiac disease. They were not careful in cooking my pizza. They said they would bake it on a matt but forgot. They cut all pizzas with the same pizza cutters. Not a place for celiacs!!! Beware!!!
