So good! Had the smothered chicken with green chiles & fried pickles. My dad got the country fried steak & it was super good as well. They also have gluten free strawberry pie! All their baked goods are gluten free. Super nice servers as well. Everything can be made gluten free on the menu which is such a nice feeling.

I ate at Brent’s last year and forgot to review it, I always try to support businesses that are doing gluten free RIGHT! This place is amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I am celiac and I was in Amarillo for 3 days and ate here twice! The first time I had amazing tacos. The second time I had fried chicken fingers, they were the best chicken fingers I have had. LOVE that this place is giving gluten free a good name. I will visit any time I am in town!

I LOVE THIS PLACE. One of the owner’s has Celiac disease herself and makes some of the most amazing gluten free food I’ve ever had. Cried in the restaurant when I first arrived as I was so overjoyed there were so many options that were so safe.
I’ve been eating at Brent’s for 3+ years at least once a month with HIGHLY sensitive Celiac, and can confidently say I’ve never gotten sick. My favorite gluten free restaurant I’ve ever been to. Heather and Brent know their stuff!!!

I have celiac disease so I came here SO excited about most of their items being gluten free, but I got SO SICK from eating here. I haven’t been that miserable in a very long time. I’m not sure what it was, but I ordered the fried pickles, tenders, and French fries. I couldn’t even get all the way through my meal before my stomach started killing me. Super bummed out.

I am deeply concerned about your review. At Brent’s Café, we have a dedicated gluten-free fryer (it’s actually our only fryer). We hand batter all our fried menu items (pickles, onions, mushrooms, chicken strips, chicken fried steak, etc)
in our house made gluten-free flour mix (gluten-free sorghum, tapioca starch, potato starch, baking powder, salt, and pepper) after dredging the item In buttermilk. All fried foods at our restaurant are gluten-free. All of our condiments and dressings are also gluten-free. While we do offer traditional buns, bread, and pasta in addition to our gluten-free buns, bread, and pasta, we use separate preparation areas and designated utensils.
I would like to learn more about your visit. Would you please tell me the date, time, and items ordered during your visit? Did you notify staff during your visit about your experience? Did you notify staff when you ordered that you have celiac disease? Please contact me at [email protected], or call Heather at (806)398-2160.
The owner/owner’s wife has Celiac and everything can be made GF. There’s a dedicated fryer for fries, chicken fried steak, etc. ALL the desserts are GF. I have a Nima Sensor and my son’s macaroni & cheese had no gluten detected. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!

Great food. HUGE portions. We had tacos, but looks like chicken fried steak is the biggest draw from what the other diners were enjoying. The brownie was very good except for the caramel pepper sauce- a warning that it includes this would have been appreciated-ruined good chocolate for me. Still giving it 5 stars, whole family really enjoyed their meals- Mac n cheese, black bean burger, and the catfish and desserts cookie, coffee cake crème brûlée and my hubs loves my spicy 🌶 brownie! Updating- got a bit bubbly the following day, my hubs ate my leftover chicken tacos and felt bubbly too, not sure why and not a gluten reactionbut I wouldn’t get that meal again

Ate here last night. It was amazing. My husband who has celiac got the chicken fried steak which he hasn’t had since before he got diagnosed. I tried a bite and you couldn’t even tell it was gluten free it was amazing. We also got fried pickles. The server told us the owner has celiac so we felt very comfortable eating here without worrying about cross contamination. Highly recommend, wish we lived in Amarillo. We’d be eating here all the time!

We are locals and my 12yo daughter has celiac. This is the only restaurant we take our daughter to in Amarillo because they are knowledgeable, their entire menu is gluten free and all absolutely delicious, even to all of the non-celiacs. We’ve eaten here dozens of times and she’s never gotten sick, only super full cause it’s a rare occasion that she gets to eat out and pick several things from a menu! So beyond grateful that these owners opened this restaurant and pray they never leave us!

My husband and I were traveling from Utah to Texas and stopped here to eat based on the stellar reviews. I am on a gluten-free diet to reduce inflammation and have had a difficult time finding affordable restaurants that cater to my needs, so I was thrilled to find this place. Several reviewers said that the GF chicken fried steak was excellent, and I totally agree! It was so big that I ended up giving my husband half of it. He agreed that it was really good and that there was no way to know it wasn't a regular chicken fried steak. I am sad that I don't live closer because I want to come back! The waitress was great and could answer all of my questions. She said everything on the menu could be made gluten-free. Thank you for the enjoyable experience!

The BEST restaurant we experienced while in Amarillo!! And it's GLUTEN FREE!!! We had foods we haven't had in years due to celiac disease and another of us is gluten intolerant and dairy free. Those in our party not gluten free just enjoyed good food! They say that anything on their menu can be made gluten free and most things dairy free. Our entire order was gluten free. The fried chicken sandwich was incredible!! We also had the onion rings, fried pickles, hamburgers, catfish, peach pie and blueberry lemon pound cake. Portion sizes were huge and we had leftovers for lunch the next day! Will definitely look forward to our travels that take us through Amarillo!

Incredible dining experience! Server explained all food is either gluten free or can be made gluten free. Husband had the buffalo chicken poppers and I had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer. Husband had the blackened catfish and I had the chicken fried steak with the peppered cream gravy. CFS was enormous and big enough for two. Overall impression, Everything was amazing with the exception of the blackened catfish IMO. Husband loved it but me, not so much. I grew up in Louisiana and I prefer to taste more than the blackening of the fish.

EVERYTHING on the menu can be made GF (and most can be dairy free too). And ALL the desserts are gluten free! Yes, ALL of them!!! The chicken fried steak (although not the healthiest choice) is soooo good. We also tried the red velvet cupcake and vanilla plum cake (cake flavor of the day) - very moist and tasty. We have eaten here twice and will be back on our next road trip. Quick tip: they frequently close early at night if it’s not busy so don’t delay. I’ll add pics of the menu.

AMAZING! That’s the first word that comes to mind. I mean come on, safely cooked fries gluten free foods?!? Sign me up! We told the waitress my daughter us celiac and her response was “you can safely order absolutely anything on the menu”. When we checked out i noticed she labeled the food as “gluten allergy!” We found the waitress to be super accommodating and friendly and the food was delicious. We ordered cheese fries, chips and salsa, fried pickles, onion rings, chicken tenders with a side of Mac and cheese. Everything was yummy but the chicken tenders were the highlight - so tender and delicious. 10/10 would recommend and definitely stop here again when we come through Amarillo.

Food was safe. Gluten and dairy free. But absolutely flavorless and very expensive. When I mentioned the lack of flavor to the waitress she blamed it on the new cooks in the kitchen. I messaged Brent's Cafe, and the owner reasoned and said the lack of flavor was intentional. That they worked with doctors and locals and decided to lightly season their food. If you enjoy bland, expensive food eat here. If not, I'd look elsewhere. It was over $80 for 4 people and we left hungry.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about this amazing little cafe! Everything on the menu can be gluten free; in fact, all fried foods, dips, and dressings are already gluten free! The bread and pasta are the only things that need to be substituted for gluten free and are prepared and stored in a separate area than everything else! So many options to choose from (including fresh made desserts), delicious food at a great price point, and servings are huge! Great atmosphere and service was exceptional! Definitely a go-to for celiac and gluten intolerant! A+!

I actually decided to stay the night in Amarillo along my cross country road trip after reading the reviews of Brents! I just had to check it out for dinner. I was not disappointed - the fried chicken sandwich with kennebec fries were so delicious. The service was so friendly and helpful but never overbearing. They answered all my double-checking questions about their dedicated GF fryer and prep spaces. They really know their celiac stuff. My only complaint is that I was too full for dessert (all of which were also gluten free!)

This place is amazing. Everything on the menu is either naturally gluten-free or can be made gluten-free. They have a separate area in the kitchen for preparing the gluten-free. They were also able to accommodate my need for dairy-free. We had the fried mushrooms for an appetizer, sand they were not like any fried mushrooms I have had before (pre celiac) and were very good. I would go back just for these. My main meal was delicious- chicken tostada. But the best part was the number of desserts I could order. You all understand this- everything was gluten-free so there were many choices. I had a brownie with sorbet and berries on top and coconut whip cream so it was dairy-free. My husband and I were both full and we are it all because it was so delicious.

I'm diagnosed "Intolerant " but have lived as a celiac for 15 yrs due to the severity of my reactions from cross contamination. You know how hard it is to get gf food especially when traveling. Well don't pass this place up! Due to our travel time we arrived 25 min early for Sunday brunch and waited in anticipation due to all the positive reviews. we watched as the parking lot filled and lines began at both doors. I went straight to the bar where the very nice young lady took the drink order and explained all that is and or could be gf/df. Within 15 min the hostess was already having to tell customers it would now be a 45 min wait as the place was already full. So plan accordingly. The fried chicken sandwich and fries with a very large piece of lemon blueberry bundt cake that melted in my mouth made me want to cry! My husband is always skeptical of gf restaurants because he is not and he was very happy with his chicken fried steak and eggs. We will be coming back through next Sunday and if fate allows we will eat there again as there are so many yummy meals to choose from. Enjoy this little piece of gf heaven! And thank you owners for going against the norm and offering us some most delicious gf meals. Sincerely, Deb

The people were LOVELY!! So kind and helpful. The menu is a bit cluttered in general, and a bit confusing when it comes to seeing gluten free options - they’re generally at the bottom of each section, but you kinda have to hunt for them as everything is all in the same size and style of font. The food was yummy. I got a Hank burger sans bun (I have rice and corn allergies as well, so I just go bunless) with provolone and a salad on the side. They didn’t offer a lettuce wrap, but it came with romaine, so that’s understandable. The salad had fresh mixed greens, cucumber slices, and cherry tomatoes. Husband got a ranch burger with a gf bun, which he said was good, and the veg of the day; today it was green beans - they were grilled and fresh and DELICIOUS. On the ticket, in addition to listing a gf bun, they delineated “gluten allergy.” THAT SAID, I didn’t see the fried onion rings and fried jalapeños listed as gluten free, and they didn’t ask about that, but it seems like they’re prepared, should anyone ask about an actual gluten allergy. . (Husband isn’t celiac, but does try to keep wheat ingestion to a minimum for other reasons.)

I tried this based on the other reviews here and was not disappointed! The gluten free bun on the burger was actually good and the burger as a whole was delicious, and also very big. The fries were okay, but kind of soggy and not particularly impressive. The menu is pretty clear about gluten free options and they seemed very knowledgeable about what could be made gluten free. I didn't have any reaction to the food, so I feel good about their cross-contamination precautions.
