Hands down one of the best gluten free places to eat!!! Service is GREAT and food is AMAZING!!! I’ve traveled through more than half the states using this app and Brent’s is a must stop if visiting or traveling through Amarillo. My husband is not gluten free but he raved about the shrimp and grits and commented on how flavorful it was. We even ordered food to go for dinner on our road trip.

Saw all the reviews so we tried. Awesome staff. Everything fried is gluten free. Was great feeling to sit with family and not have to care if the kids are to close or who touched what. Apps and desert too. Shame this is so far away. Will def be back if ever in the area again. Food was great. Service was great.

One of the owners is a celiac so they take celiac very seriously. All you have to do is tell your server. They cater to dairy free and other allergies as well. They have more gluten free dessert than I have ever seen.

Sweet onion rings. Tasted great. There aren’t many places that have mastered GF onion rings. Well done Brent’s cafe.

Update - Once again the best gluten free food we have found. Great food, great service, great prices! FANTASTIC! The entire menu can be made gluten free. Everyone loved their meals, even those w/o Celiac. Those w/ Celiac did not get sick and had a wide variety of foods, including baked goods. Staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable. What a gem!!! Eat here!!!

You are in for a treat if you eat here. All of the fried food is gluten free and SO GOOD. Plus all gf desserts!! Get the buffalo poppers. I have been missing boneless wings since celiac diagnoses and I actually cried eating these. So delicious, and with house made amazing buffalo sauce. An experience unlike any other. Thank you Brent’s!!!

Amazing dinner. We were traveling through and I used the app "Find Me Gluten Free" for something nearby and Brent's Cafe came up with rave reviews for safe gluten free options. And boy do they have a lot of options. It was so hard to choose. I got the soup of the day. I forgot what it was called, but some beef poblano soup that was delicious. For dinner, I had their fried chicken strips with a white gravy to dip in and it was excellent. I rarely can order soups, gravy, or anything fried. Only gluten free items go into the fryer so there's no cross contamination. I also enjoyed some onion rings. I haven't had onion rings in over a decade. It was all great. There were about eight other items on the menu I really wanted to try. Wish I traveled through this area more often. I also enjoyed the cocktail, Heather's Cosmo. It was bright and vibrant in flavor. I ordered the spiced apple cake for dessert. Next time I will see if I can get the caramel sauce on the side. It was really sweet, but could be because I'm not used to sweets that much.

My husband had a burger with the fresh cut fries and loved it. He had the regular bun (gluten full as he calls it). He loved it all.

I will be back on our next trip through the area. Delicious. Thank you.

My gluten free 14-year-old son was traveling with three non-gf adults. They chose this restaurant based on reviews and were so glad they did! Everyone loved their meals—especially my son who finally was able to have mac & cheese! My husband asked all the questions and felt comfortable allowing our son to eat there. The server told him it would be the best gf Mac and cheese he’s ever had and after he finished he told his dad she was right. It was the best Mac and cheese he’s ever had. The hamburger was so big he couldn’t finish it. Definitely on the itinerary when they pass through Amarillo again. Thanks for keeping my kiddo safe and well fed!

The non-gf members of our party were very happy with their meals.

A gluten-free oasis in Amarillo. Started with GF onion rings and had the meatloaf platter. I love onion rings and I am happy to say they were really good. The meatloaf was very good, nice consistency and very tasteful.

If I lived closer I’d be a regular customer. I didn’t get to have dessert as I was too full.

I have celiac disease so I came here SO excited about most of their items being gluten free, but I got SO SICK from eating here. I haven’t been that miserable in a very long time. I’m not sure what it was, but I ordered the fried pickles, tenders, and French fries. I couldn’t even get all the way through my meal before my stomach started killing me. Super bummed out.

Owner Response

I am deeply concerned about your review. At Brent’s Café, we have a dedicated gluten-free fryer (it’s actually our only fryer). We hand batter all our fried menu items (pickles, onions, mushrooms, chicken strips, chicken fried steak, etc)

in our house made gluten-free flour mix (gluten-free sorghum, tapioca starch, potato starch, baking powder, salt, and pepper) after dredging the item In buttermilk. All fried foods at our restaurant are gluten-free. All of our condiments and dressings are also gluten-free. While we do offer traditional buns, bread, and pasta in addition to our gluten-free buns, bread, and pasta, we use separate preparation areas and designated utensils.

I would like to learn more about your visit. Would you please tell me the date, time, and items ordered during your visit? Did you notify staff during your visit about your experience? Did you notify staff when you ordered that you have celiac disease? Please contact me at [email protected], or call Heather at (806)398-2160.

This place is amazing! My dad and I are both celiac and Brent’s Café did not disappoint! We almost didn’t believe them when they said EVERYTHING on the menu is gluten free. Gluten free country fried steak, bread pudding, and salted caramel cake were all to die for! I haven’t had food this good since I’ve been celiac. The chef is also very knowledgeable about celiac disease and cross contamination so I highly recommend this place!!

I’m so glad that they opened a new place! The owners/cook and baker here (or 2 of them at least!) are husband and wife. The wife has celiac disease, and they actually owned a bakery (Zinnia’s Bakery) that was STRICTLY GF. They didn’t allow outside food or drink in due to possible cross contamination. So they are THE PEOPLE to go see for GF! The food is also amazing... you’d never guess that it’s gluten free... my husband loves it too!
