Risked the "gluten friendly" pasta...after I was warned about cross contamination.it was good but definitely had some reaction.
The first question the server asked was if anyone at our table had any allergies. When I said gluten free, she immediately asked if it was celiac, and said that they advise against getting pizza due to cross contamination. She went over the rest of the menu mentioning what accommodations could be made. I got pasta and it was wonderful!
The staff at front desk and the waiters were knowledgeable about options. The gluten-friendly pizza was not recommended to me as it has a high risk of contamination. The waitress made a special note that I have celiac disease, the pasta I had was definitely gluten-free pasta and it was good. I ate there twice and had no reaction.
I went to scope it out at 11 to see if there would be any options for my nephew. Because some of the stands prep the bread and pasta right there, you could see the flour in the air. The meat stand wasn’t far enough away for me to find that safe. It all looked good, so if you’re not celiacs, the meat stand and the gelato would be great options. If you’re really sensitive, beware (which is probably quite obvious but I’d seen positive reviews so wanted to see if it would work, it didn’t for us).
Had a modified bruschetta board from the meat and cheese place. Subbed the bread for prosciutto for extra fee. Tasted great and was a good size for a meal.
Patissaria…. This is a pastry place that looks so dangerous but they had two options that looked safe for me…they were a chocolate mousse and another creamy dessert! The mousse was delicious and I was fine although there was a small amount of a cake looking substance at the bottom even though it said only dairy ingredients. My husband ate the cake part
I’m so confused why reviews are poor here. If you want gluten free pizza and pasta…this isn’t the place. But if you want a healthy meal, this is a winner. The separate food booths honestly take care of cross contamination risk, so that’s great. I have eaten here twice in three days. I ate at the fish booth, which has no gluten…fish, potatoes, veggies. Cooked with lemon and EVOO. And I ate at the butcher and had delicious grilled chicken and a simple salad. And I had a nice cheese plate too. I also stopped by the gelato shop for dessert. Just stay away from the pizza, sandwich and pasta stands. The naturally gluten free food is much better anyway! This is also in the only smoke free hotel/casino in Vegas. Extra credit for that.
I stopped by the pizza and pasta restaurant after reading that they had some gf options. I spoke with the woman at the host stand prior to being seated and she informed me that the gf pizza is not recommended for those with celiac (this is also listed directly on the menu) due to it not being a gf environment (dough is made in same area and pizzas are handled on same surfaces as non gf). However, their pasta kitchen is separate and she said they could make any of their pastas except the ravioli with gf pasta.
Spoke with my waitress about the allergy as well and she can me the same info. I ended up ordering the Cacio e Pepe. BUT my stomach had started to hurt after a few bites and I found not only a piece of plastic mixed in, but a clearly not GF noodle (they only had one type of gf pasta noodle).
They ended up taking care of my meal, but I would not reccomend this location for anyone with a severe intolerance or celiac's.
This is an interesting concept - different “booths” sell Italian street food, or pizza, or gelato, or Nutella - but there is Nothing Gluten Free. The cheese stand was closed on Monday, but they didn’t even have packaged cheese in the refrigerator case. You could have gotten a GF pizza on the sit down restaurant (and I was told GF pasta but it wasn’t on the menu) but there was along line and we didn’t want pizza again. So I resorted to ordering a ball of fresh mozzarella from the bar and ate that with some almonds I had in my purse
At Il Pastaio - they can now make gluten free pasta dishes. Not all are gluten free and they are not marked on the menu but the server was able to explain what was available. I got the bolognese and it was excellent… the pasta was a penne style that was one of the best GF pastas I’ve ever had… made of a blend of quinoa, rice, and corn. Would highly recommend. Wish they could do gluten free bread to go with the appetizers!
We had a wonderful time, shopping for gluten free pasta and risotto to bring home… and lunch was great! The host & our server were very knowledgeable and made sure of all the adjustments to my meal… I even asked for the name of the GF pasta they used to I could buy it on our way out. Loved it!
Such an uncomfortable experience! Ended up watching my partner eating: one of the staff members (manager I presume) started laughing at me when I asked about allergens / allergen list. She also made inappropriate suggestions proving complete lack of knowledge on this item. Felt like I wanted to cry and burst into tears on my first night in New York!
