Be very cautious about ordering off the gluten free menu here. I ordered a shrimp taco off the gluten free menu. The taco I was served had breaded shrimp in it. Thankfully I saw the breading and asked the manager about it. She said the shrimp was breaded in flour. I told her that I ordered from the gluten free menu and that I have celiacs so I could not eat it. They had to make entirely new tacos that had grilled shrimp.

Really tasty tacos and chips and queso and they have gf menu online, but I was mildly sick after both times I ate there, so there must have been cross contamination but it was mild. I've had way worse reactions from restaurants, this just made my stomach a little upset for about an hour. I'm very sensitive though, so if you're less sensitive you'll probably be totally fine. Friendly staff, great margs, and the food was really good.
Ate here for the first time. Very tasty & fresh food. They use corn tortillas, see the online GF menu for options. Little too spicy for my tastes but it was very good. Enjoyed the chips & queso, crossroads was very good & the democrat was ok. Will be going back!
Came from Nebraska and was nervous about traveling and food allergies. The staff took the time to make sure our visit here was the best. My husband says he wishes he would have ordered 2 wranglers instead of just one! Thanks Torchys for making our vacation a little more relaxing. If you have a dairy problem make sure you order your breakfast taco without eggs.
They made a lot of changes regarding their gluten free choices to the point of putting gluten free/ food allergy alerts on the tickets/ receipts when ordering. In the past the cashiers were clueless even if you ordered off the special lamented gluten free menu which caused problems when your order came out unsafe (and you find out why after eating). Still there mobile app is gluten friendly even before that got updated. I would call in my an order specifically mention it needed to be gluten free and always got help or a callback when something could not be such as their monthly taco of the month. This is why I will keep going back to this Torchy's.
I have had the chips and queso several times, along with the Democrat taco with zero issues. A couple of years ago, I think I may have been glutened, but not any of the recent 5 times I’ve been there!
Hit or miss. Not knowledgeable staff. Cross contamination happens.
Overpriced, and sued a much better taco joint in town for their name. Would rather eat at DGT who are Celiac friendly and have awesome large portions for realistic amounts of money! Personally haven’t gotten sick here but they never heat up the corn tortillas properly so.....
The gf menu is basically if you’re eating gf as a fad and not for intolerance and certainly not Celiac. For it to be gf, most of the sauces and some elements have to be altered but those changes aren’t visible when you get it, and the staff is so rushed they often make mistakes. You can probably safely eat the chips and quest but nothing else.
They do have a gluten free menu, and if you do get what you ordered, the food is delicious. But despite ordering a gluten-free taco, they delivered it in a flour tortilla. Then they didn’t bring my whole meal that I ordered. Frustrating.
Delicious food and lots of GF options. Staff is well-versed and can help you make safe choices, modifications where needed. Note about chips at this location: we were recently told that this Torchy’s does not always use a dedicated fryer for their chips!! Typically only on weekends when they are busy enough to use the extra one. We ask every time we go if the chips are fried separately.
This place is kind of hit or miss with being Celiac friendly. I definitely got a taco on a flour tortilla after talking with the girl who took my order about Celiac and gluten. The food is very good and cheap and filling, but it’s risky.
Sick for 2 days - wouldn’t try again.
I wanted to give this restaurant 2 ratings. A one for their gf options but a 5 for quality and service. Their gluten conscious menu is NOT safe They cook chips and tortilla on the same grill as flour. If you ask they will wrap it in foil on the grill with care Also the chicken and beef have gluten Good food but not super safe of gf friendly
Gigantic tacos. In spite of disclaimer, went out of their way to be kind. Delicious.
I've given this place multiple tries. They don't follow their own protocols for gluten free. I ordered gluten free egg and cheese breakfast tacos. The cashier has a button on the screen to show that the order is gluten free. Once again the button was not used. I've gotten sick in the past. I'll not risk it anymore.
Soooo good. And Gluten friendly with a variety of options.
Unique taco combinations. They do have a gluten free menu, at the register.
Do not eat here!!! The staff has no idea what’s in their items and can’t put in an order correctly. I’ve been to this location twice and got sick both times. Go somewhere else, or if you REALLY want some Torchys, go to the one in San Antonio at the Quarry.
Very good for celiac, but no dedicated fryer (stay away from chips and fried anything). UPDATE: now has dedicated chip fryer at this location, OK for celiac for chips only. Other food fryer is still cross contaminated. Wife has celiac disease, and has no problem eating here. Great food.
They do a fine job with GF, but their tacos are overrated
just like the great locations in austin. gf menu and most varieties can be subbed with corn tortillas. chips and salsa are gf. eat at this chain a lot and never have issues.
Most everything can be gluten free with a corn tortilla, even fried choices can be made not fried. The chips are made in a dedicated fryer and the queso is gluten free! I did not have a problem eating here at all!
