Although not as many options as I would like, they have always been helpful when notifying me of questionable ingredients and even taken special time to make a taco-of-the-month for me! I will say I have gotten sick a couple of times at various locations, but that is also the risk you take when eating out. (Celiac for 12 years)
Arrived at 1 on a Saturday and the place was understandably packed. After waiting for about 15/20 minutes in line I ordered two tacos (the democrat and the pulled pork) and a side of the sweet corn and chips. These were, hands down, the best tacos I have ever had.
My order was labeled on the receipt as gluten free with an allergy stamp in big capitals and someone hand delivered it back to the kitchen with an explanation instead of just ringing through the computer.
The fountain drinks were by Maine Root and delicious. The atmosphere was fun and loud but very clean. The tacos were incredible. I'll be back soon.
Amazing food, atmosphere, and staff at all of their locations. Their gluten free menu is extensive. Their queso is delicious and I've had almost all of the gluten free tacos and I havent been disappointed! My two favorites are the one with the mushroom, and the one with the barbacoa.
Just so you know, the one with the mushroom, and the one with the avocado, have the mushroom and avocado covered in cornmeal. It freaked me out when I got it, but then saw it was just cornmeal so it's safe to eat, and it was nice to have some change like that!
It REALY, REALLY, REALLY (did I say really) saddens me to write this review, this place is very cool, the staff durning my visit was extremely friendly and the food tasted wonderful.... BUT, if you have Celiac with sensitivity to cross contamination then Torchy's isn't for you unfortunately. It's really sad that there are so few places such as this business that cannot provide safe options for people with Celiac without causing serious negative health side effects. If you're gluten free because of a lifestyle choice then this is a wonderful option. Sorry for the negative review, I was truly hopeful.
Their food is SO good. Everybody I came with felt the same. The only thing that bugs me is that their chips and salsa/queso are listed on the gluten free menu but when I asked one of the workers about it, they said that they fry them in the same fryer as their gluten-containing products (probably the churros). So I have some mild trust issues. I’m an asymptomatic celiac so I’m not totally sure if the food made me sick, but they said that they prepare everything else on the gf menu with allergen precautions. Super tasty food as long as you specify with them the extent of your allergies/intolerances.
