Great service and awesome procedures to prevent cross contamination.

Celiac! I tried the unforgettable sea code taco with a cup of ragin' cajun chicken corn chowd er. They were fantastic! The waitress even offered some tortilla chips and salsa for me to snack on while the rest of my family had the sourdough bread and butter before our entrées. The waitress assured me they change gloves and clean everything before preparing gluten free items, even before I asked them to, as soon as I said celiac! I am extremely sensitive to cross contamination and I am perfectly fine the next day.

Go for the chowder! They are all so delicious! Our waitress told us that Duke has several grandchildren who are celiac so the company takes it seriously. I ordered with no concern, and the waitress even asked me what kind of bourbon I wanted just in case it was made with mash and therefore not celiac safe. (I never considered this and need to look into it! 😬) I highly recommend Duke’s it if you’re in the area.

We've eaten here at least 3-4 times since my wife was diagnosed as a celiac. Very good food, excellent service, lots of GF menu options clearly marked. Most important, when we notify our server about my wife's condition the manager always checks in with us to explain what their kitchen process is.

Wow! When I saw how "small" the gf menu was compared to the overall menu, I was skeptical - but EVERYTHING I ate was wonderful - not just safe, but flavorful, and worthy of writing a great review. The flavor combo's were great - and I highly recommend getting the "tasting" of a bunch of different kinds of chowder - every chowder offering is GF!! I had one that sounded interesting - a sweet potato base with Pernod - so delicious. They use a blend of 7 flours for the roux that makes the chowder!! I've only been once but if I lived here, I would eat here often.

First, let me say I suffer from Gluten sensitivity and milk intolerance so I have to be strict about what I put in my body or I pay for it later. Duke’s offers a wonderful GF menu and when I mentioned my milk issue the waitress suggested a chowder that was not only gf but dairy as well. Everything was delicious! Well done Duke’s. Well done

I’ve always had a good experience at Dukes. All of their locations have been wonderful. A decent selection of gluten free items but I do wish there were more. Also a bit on the pricy side.

We had a great dinner here. They had plenty of GF options on the menu. I had macadamia crusted halibut. They brought sourdough bread to the table which my husband enjoyed and offered to bring me chips and salsa when I told them that we needed to make sure my meal was GF.

They asked if my gf request was celiac or intolerance and seemed extremely cautious. I love that they give warm tortilla chips and tomatillo salsa as an alternative to the fresh bread. The fish is always cooked PERFECTLY, and the flavors are amazing. It is expensive, but you’re getting what you pay for. I’ve eaten here many times and have never gotten sick. A medium amount of gf choices, clearly makes on the menu.

Some really good choices on the menu which clearly marked gf items. I ordered shrimp appetizer and bowl of chowder (I never get clam chowder; what a treat!) Food was great. I also ordered carrot cake which was only gf dessert which was good but not memorable. I did not get sick! Great place to have lunch overlooking the Tacoma Harbor.

The staff was very accomodating and went over the menu with me so I could be sure which options were gluten-free. A strong knowledge of cross contact procedures was shown by the staff. The gluten-free items on the menu were limited to appetizers and salads, but there was a decent variety. The chicken skewers and beef sliders (without buns) were both excellent. They also had gluten free Seattle (hard) Ciders. The honey variety was quite good.

My server was clearly familiar with celiac disease; when I told her I had celiac disease she thanked me for letting her know and said she’d both flag the order and personally speak to the kitchen to ensure they take special precautions to protect against cross contact. The items listed on the menu as gluten free are mostly chowders and salads but she pointed out all the places where mods are possible (for example, the tacos can be made with corn tortillas though it’s not their default). Nearly everything but the crab cakes had an available modification. Ghost fish GF beer too! Everyone who brought out food confirmed it was gluten free with special precautions. The corn tortillas were bigger than I expected so we double checked when they came out but it was. Very delicious and easy experience. I felt very safe.
I’m not sure why there is t better labeling for GF available items, but the staff were all very knowledgeable and helpful.

GF items clearly marked. Not for celiacs as the menu clearly states there may be cross contamination. Had the gf haddock and was sick the next morning and I can take a little cross contamination. Therefore I don’t recommend for gluten intolerant either. Food was okay not great so you aren’t missing a thing by skipping.

Went for Lunch.. The menu at Dukes offered many Gluten Free options, the server was familiar with Celiac and immediately brought me chips and salsa instead of bread. I had the Northwest Seafood chowder which was GF and Dairy Free.. Delicious! They are also willing to adjust dishes to make them gluten free.

Pros for GF: a lot of gf chowder options. Cons; not a lot of other GG options. We have not been to the area in awhile, and we thought we remeber some other fish gf options. I believe they only had salmon. Overall good stop for chowder and salad. The chowder is reallly good.

I went here and of course was concerned as I’m celiac. I had FOUR people come over to my table and assure me that they’d make sure everyone in the kitchen knew of my allergy. It didn’t bother me in the slightest, best service/ celiac friendly restaurant I’ve ever been to!!

Really friendly and knowledgeable service. Apparently Duke’s (Duke - the founder) daughter was diagnosed with celiac, so they’re trained to be very aware and informed about cross contamination etc. They informed me that every item marked GF on the menu was celiac safe. I enjoyed a margarita on the rocks, prawns and avocado salad, as well as a lettuce wrapped burger (the one with avocado and bacon). I would definitely recommend Duke’s.

*not avoiding CC yet due to wait for endoscopy* Duke’s staff seemed very knowledgeable and proactive about restrictions. The menu was well-marked for GF options, of which there were plenty. Our server brought me GF bread that was pretty dang tasty and even supplied the ingredients list- I’m going to try to replicate it once I’ve got some gf baking under my belt. They seemed quite attentive to allergies in general. There was also a recipe that came out on one of the dishes, and I noticed it came with a specific GF blend listed as alternative to the flour used for the roux. I’m not trying to avoid CC yet, as I’m between blood test and endoscopy, but I would confidently try this after endoscopy.

Fantastic experience! Gluten free beer. All chowders are gluten free. Recipes for the chowder are provided (which further prove they are gluten free). Not many options of main dishes except halibut salads, and salmon. We ordered several appetizers and chowders and were full. Would definitely return. Take an Uber- don’t try to walk here.

Very knowledgeable staff, clearly marked menu, and even gluten-free beer available in cans. I let my server know straight away that I was Celiac and she immediately offered GF bread for the table which was delicious. After placing our entree order the manager visited our table. I thought for sure he was coming to let me know they can’t guarantee any safety but instead he came by to reassure me the kitchen was aware of my situation and were doing everything in their power to keep my food safe. Overall one of the best dining experiences I’ve had post-diagnosis.

I had a burger on a gluten free bun (one of the best GF buns I’d had in my life) and it was amazing. I couldn’t order fries as a side because of cross-contamination, but I was able to have red potatoes as a side that were very good. The server was very knowledgeable, was a great experience!

The service was amazing. At the beginning of our dining they brought out bread for everyone to eat. The waitress knew that I could not have it. She brought out chips And salsa for me. I had the chowder and seafood salad. It was amazing. There was surprisingly a lot of options on the menu. The waitress even come to the table and told me how they are going to prepare my food. We love Duke's. Seriously love it. Today was my first time eating there since diagnosis. Talked to a manager about Celiac protocols for fresh gloves, fresh utensils, freshly cleaned surfaces. She stated absolute confidence that the kitchen could get this right. She packaged my food in a separate bag from my husband's.
...and I still got glutened.
Excellent gluten free menu, had the northwest cioppioni style chowder and the macadamia crusted halibut. Food was excellent! Beautiful restaurant and friendly knowledgeable staff.

I had the chowder sampler, which was phenomenal, although I wished I had gotten just a bowl of the clam chowder because it was by far the best one. The sampler also isn’t really a big enough meal on its own. But then I got the carrot cake. Absolutely perfect, very moist and the most creamy frosting. So both of those are a nice full meal, plus with the chips and salsa they give you instead of bread!

Had a great experience here. The salmon was really good! Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly about celiac. Felt safe ordering without worrying about cross contamination. The chefs child is celiac so they know. The chowder was amazing!

Great food. The menu was completely marked and they even have chips and salsa as a free app instead of bread for GF people! Super amazing!

Our server was very helpful navigating their menu and asking about all my allergies. All the chowders were gluten free. We tried the award-winning clam and Lobster mobster pernaud chowders. Absolutely divine. Meaty and rich. Had the silky sensual pan seared Salmon. Wonderful sauce and crisp zucchini. Finished with the What's Her Names Carrot cake. We sat outside and were blessed with sunshine during our whole dinner. I would eaten every meal there if I could have!
