Have been here several times and as a severe coeliac haven’t been ill. They are also good for vegan options. Had a lovely carbonara which was a seaonsal five cheese special adapted to be gf last time and they even have “with your allergy in mind” and “non-gluten goodness” stickers that they put on each plate they bring out so you have the reassurance it’s the right order. They also have some outdoor seating so great in the summer.
Have just been here again-November 2024 and good for gf but will say there’s a limited range if pizzas that are non spicy. Photos show the seasonal “sticky pig” pizza without roquito hot honey, n’duja sauce or roquito pearls. Second photo shows the chorizo and prosciutto carbonara. You can use the website to view non gluten options or they have paper allergen chart in the restaurant or a QR code you can scan to get this up on your phone (but it’s very small). Good range of mocktails to choose from and you can get a free birthday meal with their zillionaire loyalty club
Very accommodating to allergies and lots of options! Made being GF in the city no big deal. They immediately ask when you walk in if there are any allergies at the table and your table is given a special marker. Waitstaff is very knowledgeable of all allergies and the menu. Almost all of their pizzas and pastas can be made GF. They also have veg options. Felt very safe eating here and would definitely return.
This restaurant is amazing, it’s located in an old church and is an amazing place for a date or any occasion, really recommend. Gluten free menu has lots of pizza and pasta options and you can customise your pizza however you like, even with things that aren’t on the menu. Staff very knowledgable with coeliac disease. Food was pretty good, not excellent but the location more than made up for it. Other reviews outdated I think
Staff clearly understood the impact of coeliac disease and the sensitivity to cross contamination. After I had ordered they came back to inform me one of the items was fried in the same oil and the gluten containing items and gave me chance to change it before anything had been made so no delays. The server was extremely helpful. Food was lovely. Will definitely be going again.
The gluten free pizza I ordered was soggy & barely cooked in the middle and burnt around the edges, with a crust so hard it threatened break my teeth. I suspect it was cooked in the pizza oven used for gluten pizzas at the same temp which really doesn’t work for gf pizza dough. The GF Peroni on the menu but not chilled enough. Even with my daughter’s student discount the pizzas were over £14 each. We won’t be going back.
Zizzi's was my first restaurant outing since my diagnosis - everything was so tasty! I did not get a photo of our pizzas, but they ensured everything was gluten free, cooked separately and labelled as such. Knowledgeable & friendly staff too; I highly recommend this restaurant! They offer a great GF menu with many choices, and desserts too (we were too full to try any desserts..).
People here seem very lovely. Asked about allergies/intolerances right when we sat down and made sure to tell the kitchen staff. They have the menu online and you can filter them by the allergens you don't want in. Very well done and clear.
When they brought the food, it was clearly labeled as non-gluten to avoid cross contamination. They even have gluten free deserts! đ Food was also very tasty, would recommend.
Had a pizza with sun dried tomatoes, pine nuts and plum which was very delicious. They told me that I could just pick anything from the menu and they could make it gluten-free. The pizza even came with a "gluten-free" -sticker on it, so that I could be sure it's really gluten-free.
One of the best Italian meals we have had in Leeds.
Really good setting inside which we were surprised by given it's location. GF Pizza and Carbonara were both really good but it's the desserts that were outstanding.
Definitely take gf seriously, checked if it was allergy or intolerance (for us intolerance) and food came put labelled.
Nice place, they offer both pasta and gluten-free pizza and some antipasti, personally I tried the pizza and 2 antipasti. As far as safety is concerned, they seemed prepared and pretty careful, the only note is that they only have one oven for normal and gluten-free pizza but for GF pizza they use separate pans so as to avoid contamination as much as possible.
Love zizi, has great gf options, they can do most pizzas gf, lots of desert options as well as starters, tried my first gf calamari here, have to say it was delish! Even my non gluten free friend was enjoying it with me. One down side is there is a hanging chicken, which is a skewerwith chicken pieces and peppers roasted, delishious btw, and that comes with rosemary potatoes that are fried in a fryer with gluten food. This means it is not safe for celiac bur maybe people who are less sensitive.
Fab experience. The QR code and app to determine allergens was really difficult to navigate but the staff were extremely helpful. Many GF options of pizza & pasta. GF pizzas cooked on separate GF tray and came out with label on. Food was tasty. Slightly off the main high street and plenty of spaces on a busy day when local restaurants were full.
Very disappointed, GF pizza half the size of my other dinners, very little toppings even though had paid for extra. Shop bought base, very expensive for what it was. Staff indifferent . Ordinary pizzas nothing special. Overall food greasy and bland. Wouldn’t recommend or go back.
Overall, wonderful experience! As we entered and were seated we were asked if anyone has any allergies. When notified that I am celiac the server placed an identifying bottle on our table to notify all staff. I was given a binder with ALL types of allergy info. Menu items were broken down in a table graph style very clearly listing all needed info. I did go between the binder and the actual menu for descriptions of the item, but that was absolutely fine. My dishes came out marked as gluten free and I had no issues with cross contamination and I am very sensitive to that unfortunately. Big win! Food was great, atmosphere was enjoyable. I added the QR code for the allergy info to help with planning ahead. Highly recommend!
Absolutely wonderful! The first question they asked after getting a table was if we had any allergies. They then handed us a binder with allergen information for every item on their menu. The waiter was very knowledgeable & kind. He told me about all of the items that would or would not be safe for me to eat. We ended up ordering the non-gluten pizza and it was DELICIOUS!! & it even had a tag noting it was gluten free for kitchen purposes. Highly recommend!
We were told to order through a qr code for safest food options. Their menu filtered itself according to our allergies, we still had lots of options (pasta, salad and pizza plus drinks). Food came labeled with stickers for the specific allergy. No one got symptoms and we would go back.
We went here yesterday with my daughter who is coeliac. We were told what the options were for gluten free which was pizza and pasta then there were a couple of normal menu items available as well. My daughter opted for a pepperoni pizza which she said was amazing. We had a vase and flower with allergy written on it out on our table. I ordered fries for myself and the waiter did explain that the fryer was not separate but they weren’t for my daughter do that wasn’t a problem. Really good experience and we’d definitely go back.
Very impressed, they asked on arrival who was the gluten free person as you can put this down when you book your table Each different member of staff that came to give menus/serve us etc asked aswell which I was very happy with as saved me having to keep explaining and check each time.
I was glutened despite all the staff awareness, my plates being stickers with allergy labels, pizza and pasta alternatives, even dessert options. I’m sooo disappointed because the food was so nice and I felt like projectile vomiting immediately after finishing eating. So I just think that was an unfortunate example of the risk you take when you eat out. The establishment can do everything right and a small contamination can make me so sick lol. Eat at own risk!
The staff were pleasant and the service was good, although I was told to look online for allergens as they do not have.a printed GF menu. However the pizza wasn't great, unless theb,'rustic pizzas'was meant to be burnt on the edges The side dishes were overpriced and the pizza could break your teeth so I can not recommend this restaurant and wouldn't eat here again.
Couldn't be happier with the service here. Were asked about allergies as we were being seated, and given a thorough walk through the GF menu options by a staff member who was clearly both knowledgeable and deeply caring about getting it right; he was quick to call out an item which was gluten free but fried in oil which may have been reused, for example. Many gluten free choices, including all pizzas and most pastas able to be made GF, and 4 dessert options. Friendly and attentive throughout, even giving us free limoncello shots to make up for the GF Lemon Cheesecake being sold out. Lovely, we'll be back!
