I've been to the Fleming's in Salt Lake City twice now. The first time a few months ago, with no problem. Then again a week ago for my birthday. At the end of the meal they gave me complimentary chocolate truffles. Before eating one I asked if they were gluten free. The server said she would ask. She came back and said the chef who made them said they're gluten free. I was sick later that evening. At first I wasn't sure what had made me sick. I thought maybe it was something I'd eaten the day before. After a couple days I ate another truffle and got sick again. Other than that, the experience was fine. They have a GF menu. The steaks are delicious. Just don't eat any truffles!
They have a gluten free menu, they have a very knowledgeable wait staff, bar staff, and kitchen when it comes to celiac, and their food was fantastic. Had the buratta to start, then a filet and loaded baked potato, and finished with Crème Brûlée. Everything was amazing.
They have a gf menu but not everything on it is celiac safe. Make sure to ask more questions:)
Great place for Steaks and other grilled meats and seafood. Unfortunately no GF bread so substitutes but plenty of GF items in the menu. Wine with dinner is what makes Fleming’s particularly expensive, other than that has middle to high end steak house pricing. Great for a treat!!
This establishment has a nice GF menu. Servers are very knowledgeable and actually made suggestions. Bartenders were also knowledgeable and verified drinks were gluten free (I already knew but appreciated their concern). They also made sure to take extra caution when I told them I was celiac and my food was brought out separate with a verbal … this was prepared GF. And the Lava Cake (yes, cake) is GF!!!
Wonderful and absolutely delicious! I called ahead to confirm their knowledge of Celiac and if they take precautions. The staff were very knowledgeable and even asked for my reservation to make a note for my server. When I arrived, Charles already had as aware and had the separate GF menu ready. The menu was great as most of what I wanted (even desserts) were available. I ordered a garden salad and before I could say anything, he mentioned that it’s GF and to hold the croutons. I had a ribeye, the Flemings potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms. It was better than Ruth’s Chris and The Angus Barn. I didn’t get sick at all and had a wonderful meal experience. I wish I could afford to go every Friday night!
We noted on our booking we are both gluten free. Showed up and stated Celiac precautions needed and gluten free. They brought out bread for three different items from the gluten free menu. We both feel like there was for sure cross contamination in our meals. They didn’t seem to comprehend gluten free, celiac protocols.
I’m so disappointed that I was glutened here on two separate occasions. Each time I did make clear that I had celiac, they gave me the gluten free menu, and assured me that I would be well taken care of, but each visit I was glutened. The one item that I had for both visits was the wedge salad, so maybe there’s cross contamination or something with the blue cheese, food was delicious but do not recommend for celiacs.
We went there in for our anniversary. We were pleased they had a separate GF menu. We were told they wipe them off with a separate rag and are stored apart from the other menus. It is comforting to know they take GF seriously. I had the wedge salad and they subbed goat cheese for the blue cheese. I had the ribeye steak and we shared Brussels sprouts. Excellent food and excellent service. I ate safely!
Ordered a kids filet mignon for my child over the phone and stated a severe gluten allergy. I picked up the order and went to my hotel room to find out the ice cream sundaes were missing. Then I noticed French fries surrounding her steak so I called b/c I didn’t notice it on the menu. They could not guarantee the fries are not cross contaminated so they had to make a new steak but couldn’t substitute the fries. Then went to get the new steak and forgotten ice cream. Got back to our room and I noticed a cracker with chocolate on top of my child ice cream. So I called again to inquire whether this cracker contain gluten what you did. So we’re heading down again to try to get the ice cream. I have lost all confidence in this and not sure how this will turn out, but just wanted to share my experience with other people.
There was a full gluten free menu available with many options from appetizers and salads all the way through desserts. I had a delicious seasonal salad (pickled nectarine and Burrata), steak cooked perfectly, potatoes, and crème brûlée for dessert. It was pricey but well worth it! Our server was super helpful and understanding.
Don’t eat here!!
We stressed to our server how our family was gluten free and we had a severe allergy. When our molten lava cake came out he told my husband, “Just don’t eat the caramel on the plate because that’s not gluten free.” So of course we questioned why he would put the sauce on the plate after we told him it had to be gluten free.
Then I asked him about the wafer(tuille)on all of our plates and he said, No that’s definitely gluten free.”
I then questioned it again because on the gluten free menu it specifically stated that the molten lava cake was gluten free but only w/o the wafer (tuille). The server then stated again that I was wrong and it was definitely gluten free and he said “things have changed and I assure you it’s safe.”
Minutes later our server came back over a third time and said, “Actually I do apologize but I was just informed that I was wrong and that isn’t gluten free.”
Those with celiac and with a severe wheat allergy know how seriously this situation is. I was extremely disappointed in the way this was handled and the way we were treated at this restaurant. Unfortunately, we will never be able to trust going there again since they didn’t take allergies & celiac seriously. This post is simply to warn others because I never want anyone to have this type of experience here. If it wasn’t for me carefully memorizing the menu, googling ingredients, and trusting my gut, my family would have been in the hospital tonight. 😔
I went here yesterday with my boyfriend for our anniversary. I was really excited to go here. Unfortunately the experience was not good. The food itself tasted good but the experience for the price of this place is 100% not worth it. Also some questionable health standards. I ordered my steak medium and it came out rare. We had already been waiting 45 min for the food (which it's a Friday night I totally get that they were busy). I cut into it and let the server know. She took back the steak and the manager came over and said sorry. Another 5-10 min goes by. Then they brought back the same steak I had cut into (which had been on the table for 5-10 min before they took it back. )Which I have worked in several restaurants and I know that you are not supposed to put food that has been put on the table back onto the place you are cooking everyones food. It was 100% still rare the outside was now just charred. I asked if I could just get a different cut of steak and they told me it would be another 20ish min. I waited in total about an hour and a half to eat. The manager came by again and said sorry (and that's all they did). Ordered dessert (gf lava cake) and that was good. The steak itself was good but not worth $67 to wait for over an hour. They took off the original steak but didn't do anything else. They changed us for the next steak they brought (which I get they don't owe me anything). But I had to wait double the amount of time because they messed up and they didn't do anything to compensate that. I didn't expect them to comp my whole steak but they could've given half off of the dessert or something for having to wait over an hour because of their mess up. I normally would not care if I was at a normal middle of the end resturant. But they clearly view themselves as a high end steak house and I would just expect a little more from that. Any other restaurant that I've gone to would have comped something for messing up the meal but they didn't really even care. I'm really not that upset I just want anyone going there to know that if they don't think you're the type of person to spend lots of money they're not gonna give you good service even paying a premium price. Also I question the sanitation of their kitchen and how safe their procedures are for allergies
Great place, dedicated GF menu with many options, we started with the burata salad, my son (Celiac) ordered the chicken which was superior and my other son and me got steaks, as sides we got the asparagus, baked potatoes and green beens which were delicious and at the end …… excellent Lava Cake and Crème Bruelle with side of ice cream, everything was 100% GF and delicious. I would highly recommend this place, they also have great wine selection
The gluten-free menu drew me in (surprisingly, one of the few GF menus in the Gaslamp district), but the food will keep me coming back. There was a good selection of GF entrees, appetizers, sides and desserts so you won't feel like you're settling for second best. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and were able to talk with the kitchen when necessary. The steak was incredible and the creme brulee sublime. A fantastic choice for a business or romantic meal. Just make sure you make reservations on a Padres home game night because the place is packed! But despite that, we never felt rushed. Fine dining for celiacs can be a reality at Fleming's.
We went for our anniversary. The food was delicious. I had the pork belly appetizer without the fig sauce. The Fleming Salad - no croutons. Petite filet (they have butter but I didn’t use any. The asparagus and the grits with the pork belly appetizer was so good we asked for them as a side dish. The crème brûlée for dessert was good. They have a nice selection to choose from on their GF menu and they went above and beyond to make sure we had a great night. They also gave us complimentary truffles and wine and mentioned it was GF but we don’t drink so it didn’t matter.
Well we were originally really impressed that when we made the reservation online that they asked about each person’s food restrictions. Then when we got there, the host confirmed that we needed one gluten free and dairy free menu. We were seated and the server was there immediately, very attentive and personable. He confirmed that I could not eat gluten or dairy. The menu I received had gluten free on one side and vegetarian on the other. All of this made me feel very confident. But then the food was brought out and every dish had butter and/cream. The staff quickly went into action to repair the error and comp’d my sides, but still, my husband had to eat alone while the kitchen was trying to repair. The new sides were not very interesting (plain baked potato and steamed asparagus), but kept me healthy and safe. We will definitely be back, but will just be more cautious next time.
Have a GF menu. There was no fish on this menu so spoke with the server about modifications for the regular menu item to be made GF. They were willing to omit sauce and just pan fry salmon for GF option. They do offer a few dessert options - flourless cake, ice cream, and berries.
Incredible food, I’ve been here 4+ times and had a wonderful experience each time. The staff is always knowledgeable and the menu is pretty extensive, with at least three dessert options. Probably the best steak I’ve had and wonderful delicious sides. I can’t recommend enough.
