Ate here as family member works here.
I ordered the Caprese Salad to go to take to the plane with me (transatlantic flight and airline screwed up with our bags do didn't want to take chances of not getting fed either).
Salad came all laid out separately and chef confirmed their balsamic was GF.
It was good and kept me full.
I had the truffle mac and cheese with GF penne — it tasted good, and I didn’t get sick. The server wasn’t knowledgeable about food allergies and didn’t understand when I asked her about the fryer, but she spoke with the chef about my meal so I felt like the chef understood.
The Create Your Own pasta has a gluten free option which is not on the menu but you request it. The options to create most are gluten free. The meatballs are not. I love this ability to change all the various sauces and vegetable and protein options.
Did my research prior to going and even called. Assured pasta cooked separately. However, when ordering server had NO CLUE to any of foods being gf. Asked to see allergen list which I knew they had cuz I had seen it online. They’d never heard of it. đłđŹUnfortunately no internet service while there and finally after walking to get service and got info on my phone—showed the staff (and maybe the manager?) their companies allergen list. Prior to getting this info they said “probably the Alfredo sauce but definitely the lemon garlic sauce would be gf. Fortunately with access to their allergen list, I could show them it was definitely not gf. So stressful— would not recommend this restaurant. Will not be back.
Was cautious to eat here before travel however server assured us they understood an allergy and we could find no other gf friendly place. We went save and had plain steak with potato. We suffered no contamination issues! Always a relief when there is an 8 hour flight ahead!
Our waitress was super knowledgeable about which dishes were gluten free or not. She was recommending me some dishes and even said they had gluten free penne! So I got gf penne with their pesto and roasted chicken. It was delicious but about 1-2 hours after, I felt sick. Bloated, congested and nauseous. I had no appetite for about 10 hours, which is very unlikely because I’m a snacker. It could’ve been cross contamination but I’m not sure because I didn’t ask. It’s also kind of hard to eat at places like this where mostly all of their dishes contain gluten (besides their fish/steak) :/ but overall customer service was great but I wouldn’t recommend to eat here if you’re in the mood for pasta.
Currently they do not have GF pasta options. However staff were knowledgeable about GF & cross contamination. The caesar salad w/out croutons, with chicken or shrimp is very good. Grilled salmon with side of spinach instead or orzo a good option as well. The service was excellent.
As of 7/21/22, they did not have gluten free pasta as an option. Although the macaroni grill website appears to show gluten free pasta available, this location said they didn’t have any and offered no explanation.
Their menu has zero gluten free substitutes/options. I asked our server for gluten free options and she ended up bringing me an allergy menu after we asked multiple times. When I ordered my dish she just seemed very bothered by the fact that I had an allergy and she had to deal with it. Granted I know it’s a pasta establishment but still. I ended up ordering the create your own pasta with the pomodorino sauce, their gluten free pasta, and some chicken and spinach. It was pretty good, it’s just the service and attitude that was subpar.
So they only really offer a pasta substitute that is gluten free, which isn’t bad and if you have cooked gluten free pasta you know it’s temperamental, which in my case they did a great wonderful job. I was told only 2 sauces were considered gluten free which is a olive oil garlic one, & normal red sauce. I am sure both would be great but not ideal for things like fettuccine Alfredo, or other dishes. But I did opt for their garlic cream sauce since i am gluten intolerant not celiac but it’s been a hour and so far no issues. So i would just say for celiac it’s extremely limited, for gluten intolerance i would say at your own risk. But i very much enjoyed my meal, they made sure to let me know when it came out it was gluten free and if there were any issues they would take it back ASAP. Also they do offer to add sauce on the side if you want to try the sauce out before pouring it over your entire meal.
Went yesterday and the waiter said they no longer had nutritional/allergy info available. He was also uneducated and told me a sauce was GF that was not (based on the corporate website). I had the GF pasta with pesto. It was vile. I couldn’t even pretend to eat the pasta.
2 stars because there was something for me to eat, but only 2 because it was gross and the wait staff was misleading.
Not a good experience here tonight. The waiter seemed cavalier with my concerns about the food and gluten. I ordered GF spaghetti with meatballs. He assured me there was no gluten in the meatballs, but I got sick shortly after eating. I don’t recommend if you have celiac.
The staff was super knowledgeable and helpful with my allergy! The restaurant offers a gluten free noodle, so nearly any dish could be modified as gluten free. I got the pollo caprese, and it was amazing! The only thing that could make this restaurant better would be more gluten free variety, such as a pizza crust. Other than that, absolutely fantastic!
Beware if you have food allergies — the GF pasta they are serving had egg and dairy in it.
Great place with nice people and good food. Two of our family members need to be gluten free; not only did they have gluten free options but they were delicious! Our waiter, Nicholas, was very kind, friendly, and knowledgeable! It was so nice to eat at a place and feel safe about our allergies.
Staff clueless to GF. No GF menu and No GF options except a gf pasta. Please I’m gf pasta”d” to death!
I had lunch there and had gluten free pasta with some grilled chicken. It was very good. I would like to go back and try some of there other options.
While they do not have a separate gluten-free menu, they do offer gluten-free pasta and will tell you which sauces are gf. Not one to test the theory, I chose the Chicken Under a Brick entree. Kaiti, our waitress, was very knowledgeable and also spoke with the chef. I had a delicious, tender, moist and flavorful half chicken served with grilled red potatoes seasoned with fresh rosemary as well as broccolini spears. I would definitely go back.
The waiter was very knowledgeable and super helpful. He went to double check with the chef on which sauces we could do with the gluten free pasta. There was lots of options! I did the spicy arrabiata with shrimp. Kids did mac and cheese, butter sauce with chicken and a meat sauce. Loved it all and so happy we can eat here since the celiac diagnosis.
Do not eat here if you have celiac disease. They do offer gluten-free pasta which is cooked in the same water as the regular pasta so it is been cross contaminated. My daughter was able to eat a Caesar salad and a piece of chicken anything else was likely not safe for her to eat.
This was great. I was skeptical because of the reviews on here but I'm happy I gave it a shot. I'm not only gluten free, but also dairy free, and my waiter made sure every time he came over with a serving that he mentioned my food didn't have any gluten or dairy in it.
I ordered the gluten free pasta and it was so delicious I almost didn't believe it was gluten free! So I asked where it was from and my waiter sent over the manager. He came over and assured me they use separate pots of water as well as separate pots in general specifically set aside for gluten free pasta. (Even though I didn't ask) He also wasn't sure exactly how I could buy the pasta despite telling me the brand because they buy in bulk, but told me I can buy it through them if I give them notice, and gave me a great price. It was a great experience and I will definitely be returning!
Although The menu refutes any liability for allergies, the order taker assured us that every action would be taken to ensure no cross-contamination. When I arrived to pick up my to go order I checked with the waiter and he double checked with the whole staff that handled my food that gloves were changed separate utensil separate pots were used. I haven't been this ill from "GF" food in months. I will NEVER go back there.
Ordered gluten free noodles and received regular noodles! Had to ask for it to be re-made. Server didn't care or recognize they weren't gluten free. Service wasn't great. They don't guarantee the noodles and dishes are safe and they aren't knowledgeable or safe when it comes to making and serving the dishes.
The North Olmstead (Ohio) location is excellent for celiacs if you can forego the bread offered to everyone else. They have a true gf pasta dish every day, and you can add chicken or vegetables. The red sauce is gf but they have to make you gf white sauce, which takes some extra time, so tell them as soon as you get there if you will want white sauce. They have always made it for me. The staff is very knowledgeable about cross contamination and honest if they need to find out the answer to a question for you. I have never been sick from eating there and the food is amazing.
I called ahead and spoke with a manager about their gluten free options. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He told me all about their gluten free pasta which is made and transported from Italy! When I got to the restaurant, the hard part was watching my husband eat the delicious bread without me. By far the worst part of gluten free Italian eating. :( I placed the order with the waiter and she seemed competent in preventing cross contamination. Then came the pasta. It changes from time to time but currently they have a thin fettuccine type noodle that's not actually fettuccine. I ordered the chicken "fettuccine" alfredo plate. It was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Seriously, I cannot stop thinking about it a month later. You could not tell if was gluten free pasta! I have no idea how they managed this but it is truly a miracle. And I didn't get sick so it passed the test. The manager that I had spoken with on the phone even came out and pulled up a chair while we were eating, just to tell me a little more about the pasta and the company that makes it. Service was above and beyond excellent. This will be our go-to for Italian food. If you can just get past the bread portion of the evening without losing your mind! :(
Ask for Gary... Very well knowledgeable on GF. I always get their Carmen's Chicken with GF fettucine. So good!! Must must try!!
