Our server was great so this is not directed at him at all. However, the hostess had to go ask the manager for a gluten free menu - and 15 mins later no manager, no menu. I just pulled it up online.
Food was mediocre at best. And it took 5 mins to be seated when there were literally less than 10 people in the entire restaurant.
Just miss the O’Charleys of old
I can’t really give it any stars bc I didn’t go in, and I’m not sure why it’s on this app. They don’t have anything labeled gluten-free on the menu, and when I called to see if they had gluten-free buns or bread or pasta, they said no. So I’m pretty sure all you can eat here is salad! (and bring your own dressing đ)
My wife had the ribs broccoli and side salad and didn't get sick
I went at a time it wasn’t super busy we were one of the only groups there, but they handles it amazingly. I let them know I could not have gluten and if they could change gloves before touching my food. They offered to cook my steak on a separate clean pan to make sure there was no cross contamination.
I've eaten here for years and haven't had a reaction. Louisiana steak is good, peach chutney chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, broccoli. They have a nutrition download from their website that shows allergens in every menu item. Also any salad without croutons is good. Fries and sweet potato fries aren't safe, neither is rice pilaf. So some random things. I don't recommend getting this for takeout.
I can't give dining-in or ordering details because my Mom ordered over the phone & my bro picked it up. But the food (loaded potato skins) was delicious. đ (Though in the To Go setup, they didn't really have enough sour cream, in my opinion, in the little container. But at least since I was eating at home, I just used some of ours.
They have a pretty decent selection if you check the Nutrition/Allergen Info section on their website (Steak, ribs, several appetizers & sides, salads, I assume burgers too if ordered bunless, etc. Supposedly their soups too, though I recommend asking to make sure). Although confusingly, they tell when things contain wheat, then add "May contain gluten". And there are a few items where they say only one but not the other. lolwut? đ
They should just say "wheat/gluten" as a single combination entry. But at least they seem thorough about many other major allergens too. They disclaim that while they make their best effort to separate everything, cross-contamination is still a risk since they also make lots of foods with wheat flour (shared fryer for breaded items so the fries are labeled as containing gluten, etc). I appreciate the honesty.
But anyway, I overheard Mom on the phone with them, & after hanging up she remembered that I'm also FODMAP sensitive (with exceptions), & called them back to make sure to not include the green onion sprinkling she realized was listed on them (though I was in bed & couldn't tell her that I'm usually ok with the green parts; it's the white bulb/main onion area that contains the bulk of harmful fructans, which was why I didn't bother her about it on my earlier-arranged order note). But they honored her request, no green onions, & my order was separated from the others'.
I had no bad reactions; I felt fine & full (a little TOO full; I should've saved the last one for later, LOL, but it was so yummy). Though that also could be because I took GlutenEase Extra Strength, just to be on the safe side (Disclaimer: It's not for just going around eating wheat-containing foods like normal; it's a safety net for minor cross-contamination to prevent symptoms, but gut inflammation can still silently happen).
Overall, I'm satisfied (& the rest of the family loved their food too, yay!). They could just use some clarity with their allergen menu (because that might confuse staff as well as customers), & more sour cream in the To-Go box for loaded potato skins appetizer. I loved the yummy food, & appreciated them going out of their way for me. đ
They have an allergen list and the food wasn’t bad. We didn’t feel sick after
I would eat here again
Justin was very nice and helpful, we had a wonderful meal. I had asparagus, steak, salmon and gave my fries to my daughter. It was filling and tasty. Update! Was very sick all day after eating here. This was the only thing I ate all day. Not sure if the seasoning on the salmon did it. The food was delicious but need to be more careful next time. Please be careful when eating here.
Not a lot of options to eat here and I'm really not sure about any cross contimation protocols. The waitress was helpful and brought over a binder listing all their allergens, but it was not updated and limited to some of the meats, a soup, and one salad. I think I got glutened here.
Not much that is gluten free. Detailed allergen menu and knowledge kitchen staff. Food was not great. Staff was friendly
Waitress was very helpful, she pulled out the entire allergen menu. Got the potato soup and a salad, both were good and didn’t get sick.
Does not have dedicated area. Most of the menu is not gluten free, but the gluten free options can be found. I felt sick within a few minutes of leaving even though I ordered only gluten free options.
I can’t speak for Celiac folks but I’m sensitive and the potato soup is supposed to be GF, didn’t bother me and was delicious. Another time I went I had the loaded potato skins and I couldn’t stop eating them, no issues later. Not many GF options but the ones they do have are awesome
We wanted just a quick small early dinner and couple of drinks. The waitress had a very limited knowledge about gluten free diet. Kitchen manager was supposedly busy to assist us. So I ended up ordering bake potato and a corn on a cob. Since the check arrived while we were still eating, we never had a chance to order our second round of drinks.
Great experience! Christy I believe our server was she listened to what I said my steak and salmon and broccoli with no seasoning or anything meal was perfect â¤â¤â¤ definitely going back !
I work here. No gluten free menu, just an allergen binder. No gluten free bread like the other review said. Cooks will change gloves if asked but you need to specify. I haven’t had a problem here. Soups are iffy though because some have bleu cheese powder and bleu cheese is started with flour or bread for fermentation. Just ask if you are unsure! Good food though!
All some place to eat ok works lovely food for desert
Good food at a reasonable price. Local chain.
Their book that suppose to identify gluten wasn’t very informative and I think it was missing a few pages.
Very few gluten free options. Their gluten free menu is really just an allergy list. They also did not take into consideration the shared oil in the deep fryer when they made the allergy menu. You have to ask a ton of questions on how things are prepared to find the hidden gluten. Staff is not very knowledgeable. Food is good but the stress of ordering takes away from the enjoyment.
My daughter with celiac went there with a friend. They DO NOT have a GF menu like it states on internet. She asked to speak to the manager and the manager didn’t know anything about gluten. She started rattling off things my daughter could possibly eat. I ended up picking her up so as not to risk it at a restaurant that is so clueless!
Don’t have gluten free buns. Not an especially great menu.
Service was not great & slow.
I’m surprised by the 2 positive reviews here. When I went they had no gluten free bread. They do have a binder that lists all the menu items and what allergens they contain, but it’s very general. For instance, it doesn’t differentiate between allergens present in the hamburger patty and those in the hamburger bun. I had the bacon cheeseburger with no bun and the mashed sweet potatoes. I didn’t get sick but the food was not very good.
Very difficult menu to use for GF.
The staff has very little knowledge about gluten or the details of menu items. The manager came over to tell me French fries are gluten free but there would be “transference” and my best option was a salad.
As a celiac, you can choose from maybe 2-3 crappy salads, salmon, or ribs. It was meh at best.
Ordered nashville hot deviled eggs to go. Really, really emphasized that I had a VERY SEVERE gluten allergy, and asked that the chefs change their gloves. The waiter nodded, smiled, and came back with...fried green tomatoes. If they came up with that after all the warnings and specifications I gave them, I did not want to gamble with anything else. Left immediately, will not be returning.
No gluten-free menu. They do have an allergen list online, but their menu is very limited in gluten-free items.
This would not be my first choice for gluten free in Mooresville, but if you are wanting a place with low prices and something for everyone, this could work. They have an allergen list online, but it was different than the one we were given in the restaurant, so be careful. My daughter was going to get the cornmeal breaded fish and then we found out at the restaurant that it wasn’t safe. Glad we asked! My daughter and I both got salads with grilled chicken. I was told that mine needed to be done plain, but my daughter’s was made with the spices. She didn’t feel too great later, so I’m guessing her’s should have been done plain too. Everyone else had ribs, steak, or salmon and it was fine. Nothing special, but with some work to figure out safe food, it works.
They get one star for having an allergen binder. I had to even bring my own butter! Allergen grid hard to follow and staff not knowledgeable or trained. Not going back, food just ok.
