I ordered the Hawaiian burger, without the teriyaki sauce, on a gluten free bun. The burger was tasty, but I found the bun to be heavy and dry, no flavor.

Islands has always had a very small gluten-free menu. But, in recent months, they have maintained an online nutrition guide and allergen guide. Using those, I can figure out what really is gluten-free, above and beyond what the menus and servers suggest. I have used those as guidelines, and have not gotten sick.

They always ask if you have an allergy or a sensitivity, and I’ve never gotten sick from eating here. The gluten free buns are actually really tasty and soft! Huge plus! You can also get the tacos on corn tortillas or a beach bowl- but ask for no sauce because the sauce has gluten in it.

They no longer have a dedicated fryer per my waitress. She told me I could have a salad, then brought one out covered in croutons. I was afraid to send it back and get the same salad with croutons picked off. Would not recommend.

This establishment is not celiac safe at all. I spoke with the manager and they said there is a high risk of cc with their food and she advised me to eat somewhere else. Apparently, they no longer have a gf fryer etc.

Great place to grab a burger! Gf buns. Daughter who is celiac loves them. Fried in dedicated fryer. Other gf options too like tacos, sandwiches & salads. Server was somewhat knowledgeable. They had a specific GF menu but shared kitchen spaces. My husband ordered off the GF menu and the server told us she would make sure to emphasize. Husbands tacos came out on flour tortillas… they remade and manager brought them back out and apologized. Didn’t get glutened once they brought us the correct tacos though.

I would never go back here. Terrible service and little concern for gluten allergies. Yes, I know celiac is not an allergy but that is what we tell the servers to avoid confusion when we go out. They brought my Celtic daughter’s food stacked with all the normal buns. Everything touching. The waitress was rude when I mentioned the gluten allergy as well. Island’s is usually better. Steer clear of this location.

Great place to stop while traveling on the 101. Right off the freeway, lots of free parking, rapid service, large portions, friendly staff, lots of gluten free options. I get the hamburger with gluten free bun and fries. Never a problem.

I love this place! As soon as I asked for a gluten free menu, the staff reassured me that they made everything separate from items with gluten. I got tacos, cheesy fries and a sundae, no issues at all! GF menu isn’t huge but does have nice options and dessert. Would definitely come back again!

The staff was very knowledgeable about GF and cross contamination. The server wore gloves for my meal and made a point of not touching my plate with the same hand as my husband. The hamburger bun was one of the best I’ve had - it was moist and didn’t crumble apart

Amazing service and they took my daughter’s allergy very seriously. Also, the manager hand walked our food out. They even insisted to get her a gf bun, even though we didn’t order it. She was one happy camper with her gf cheeseburger and fries. She didn’t get their ice cream but was so excited to know she had the option if she wanted to.

The gf menu is very limited. Example: Even the guacamole has gluten in it (they checked). I'm only giving them 2 stars because the food wasn't great (Red Robin is better) and the service was crappy (got all 3 of our orders wrong), plus they charged us double for an entree we only ordered 1 of.

I had let my server know I had Celiac. Ordered a burger no bun and side salad. The salad came with croutons. When I let them know I can’t have a salad with croutons, they took it back and I WATCHED the “chef” pick the croutons off and put the salad on a serving tray to send back out. They really don’t know and don’t care about you’re food allergy. Would NOT go back

We had a great experience here! The staff at the host stand were not immediately familiar with celiac, but they got the manager who informed me that they had a dedicated fryer and separate cooking area and utensils. They have a gluten-free menu and all the french fries are GF. Our server was great, and they even proactively redid my daughter’s burger when they realized that the last person to lay hands on the order had not changed gloves. We really appreciated this.

I called and spoke with a manager prior to patronizing this restaurant. I was told the staff was trained in strict allergen control measures and to make the server aware I have celiac so they can notify the manager and ensure proper precautions are taken.I did exactly that, however the next day I woke up with signs of an exposure to gluten. The only food I ate was at Islands.The server was not knowledgeable in their gluten free offerings. I get the idea she did not have appropriate training nor did she convey the message to the manager and staff as I was told would occur. random people brought me my food, and thinking back I have no way to know if I was brought food prepared with precaution or not.My reaction says no. I am extremely disappointed.

Super limited gluten free menu—good news is they do have a dedicated GF fryer.

They now have a gluten free menu with a lot of options. You can get a burger with a gluten free bun. Their milkshakes and the Cool Breeze are gluten free; the fries too.

I've only been once (so far), but the staff knew how to handle the gluten free order to keep me safe. They have GF buns and the fries are in a dedicated fryer. The waiter was very knowledgeable and the manager came to check on us later as well. Islands has been added to my list!

Nice options on their menu for GF. Dedicated fryer! Both my daughter and I have Celiac and the server and manager made us feel very safe.
