Awesome!! so many things to eat here. Things that are gluten-free have the "made without gluten ingredients" label, which might make some people nervous, but it seems like they are also good about cross-contamination.
Wegmans has a great selection of gffood. But as usual it’s not cheap. But that’s to be expected. I will still be shopping here
This grocery store has so many options for purchase (literally whole freezers and aisles that are dedicated GF) and the cafe area has a lot of options as well, including GF sushi, sandwiches, and buffet items that are labeled as non-gluten containing but are next to gluten containing items so may not be the best for my celiac peeps.
I’ve been celiac for over 10 years and wegmans is my #1 grocery store to buy gluten free items. It is a bit pricey but the quality of their food is worth it. In their prepared foods section they have gluten free sushi, soups, bowls, etc. In their bakery you can order custom gluten free cakes, and there’s pre-made slices of gf cake, macarons, and a small selection of cookies. In their freezer section they have a huge selection of gf bread and other frozen snacks, pizza, chicken and more. They also have the best wegmans brand gf cake mixes. I can’t even list everything so you’ll have to just trust me and check it out!
Got a ‘no gluten containing ingredients’ cake and I am extremely sick. I even said it was for someone with a severe allergy, so please be careful!
I love Wegman’s, and this location is my favorite in the area because they have many more options of prepared GF cakes/cookies etc than their other locations and their items do state there may be cross contamination but i’ve never had an issue with any of their bakery items, store made tv dinners or sushi. All of their sushi is gf and served with gf soy sauce.
Wegmans is a gluten free wonderland. There have so many GF products and usually get the newest ones. I really like the way they group most of the GF products in the center of the store.
We have discovered that they have GF sub rolls at the sub shop at the front of the store. It is wonderful to be able to have a sub sandwich again. We usually pick up a couple when we go grocery shopping.
They also have beautiful produce.
This is the best grocery store for GF options. They have two rows of gluten free food. They also have a lot of options in their cafe. Shrimp and vegetable dumplings, sushi, hoagies (SUPER safe protocol too when you say gluten allergy), baked goods, and more.
This is a grocery store, Given it has a very big gluten. Free section along with smaller gluten free sections throughout the store. I love going here because you can find a lot of unusual gluten free foods. You can find Ravioli Chips Cakes Donuts And a bunch of other food. All in all I like shopping here. It can be a little pricey but I like the atmosphere and just a range of the gluten-free Items.
Have never had an issue with the sushi and all of it is packed with GF soy sauce. I cant say enough good things about all of their GF offerings. From the premade meals, to their bakery baked goods(they sell by the slice and 1/4 GF sheet cakes), to the expansive GF aisles, and the ice cream cakes- its a dream come true. They have 2 dedicated GF aisles but also have tons of stuff sprinkled throughout on the regular shelves. Go! You won’t be disappointed.
Hi so nearly every Wegmans listing I’ve seen on here has a review claiming that all the sushi is “gluten free”… while I’m glad there are people who have had a good experience :) I would like to clarify what the deal is with the sushi and other hot bar items to avoid any Sensitive Celiacs showing up and being disappointed.
The sushi is actually labeled as “no gluten containing ingredients”. Wegmans has a great system for denoting different levels of safety for those that follow a gluten-free diet (linked their guide below).
Wegmans marks things as either gluten free, gluten free with oats, or no gluten containing ingredients.
According to their site the requirements are pretty stringent for items they mark with their actual “gluten free” and “gluten free with oats” labels. The regular GF one is as follows:
“Before assigning the Gluten Free Wellness Key, we work with our suppliers to verify the following:
-The product’s ingredients are not derived from wheat, rye, barley or oats. While oats are naturally gluten-free, some individuals do not tolerate oats or are advised to avoid oats when beginning a gluten-free diet.
-The supplier shall ensure the manufacturing environment, product processing, production scheduling, and GMPs are in place to prevent the cross contamination of gluten into gluten-free products.
-The final product must have <20 ppm gluten from unavoidable gluten present due to inadvertent cross-contact.
*if there is any doubt or the supplier cannot guarantee gluten-free status, the product will not be labeled as gluten free.*”
It’s important to note that this is the label that would denote celiac safe - not the “no gluten containing ingredients” that the sushi displays. They even say on the site: “this does not mean the item is gluten free” and it seems to say no precautions are taken to prevent cross contamination in these items.
See below:
“Made with No Gluten Containing Ingredients
(ITEMS MADE IN OUR STORES)
Our stores have different layouts that make it difficult to implement company-wide protocols to prevent cross-contact with gluten. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that any food that is produced, sliced, packaged or served in our stores would be gluten-free.
Made with No Gluten Containing Ingredients does not mean the item is gluten-free. It means that it does not have wheat, rye or barley ingredients but may contain gluten due to shared preparation areas (shared preparation areas include ovens, cutting boards, utensils, grills, and fryers).
We identify these items by listing “Made with No Gluten Containing Ingredients” on specific products or department signs.”
It sounds like these products (such as the sushi) are really intended for those that are gluten intolerant or for those that aren’t damaged by cross contamination. I absolutely hate to burst anyone’s bubble I just felt it was important people have all the facts so they can make an informed decision.
I have worked at a wellness grocery store that had a hot bar and other in house items that also displayed the “no gluten containing ingredients claim” and I watched in horror as they made the gluten free sandwiches at the same time, on the same cutting board, with the same knife, as the normal fully gluten sandwiches. This label, in my experience, is not meant for us.

Their gluten-free section has many fresh and packaged foods of all sorts, including frozen. The bakery will also produce cakes of many types if ordered one day in advance. Great for sensitivity, but bakery cannot guarantee no contamination for those who have celiac disease.
Thank goodness for Wegman’s! So many GF grocery items and prepared foods. We love the in-store prepared rotisserie chicken, the Wegman’s bakery strawberry shortcake, rice krispy treats, and birthday cake/ cupcakes. Such a lifesaver to have ready made baked goods for last minute emergencies (school parties, etc).
I'm not even positive about the rest of the food service areas but I go here for sushi. It's amazing because you can have all of the sauces here!Everything is labeled not containing glutenIngredients, and the only thing that has gluten in it are the gyoza. Otherwise all the sushi is safe including theSpicy mayoAndUnagi sauce. It's an absolute joy to eatWithout thinking about anything! The crab stick is also gluten free, which is also very hard to find. And just in case you needed to know, they have a $30 tray of an assortment which is amazing
Lots of Ala Carte and custom made options. Foods carefully labeled as to whether has gluten or not. Large seating area. Great place if traveling by and want to have a variety of options for your family in one place.
Great selection, including a section of gluten free cakes made in the bakery. Gluten free bread is available at the sandwich station and lunch options (soups, sushi, Chinese food bar, etc) around the store are all clearly labeled with what does or does not contain gluten. Most of the sushi and poke is safe, but I have noticed some incidental cross-contamination issues at the Chinese food bar—nothing terrible, but keep an eye out for any red flags (like noodles getting into other trays) if you are Celiac or extra-sensitive.
The ONLY place my son will eat sushi from! He is a severe Celiac and, thankfully, has never had a reaction from their sushi - raw or cooked. He has had reactions from other places that claim their's is GF. Besides, he says it's THE BEST and freshest sushi he has tasted. He is 26 and quite the foodie btw!
They have gf wings, ready made pasta, sushi, soups, sandwiches, and Asian food from their pre made food
I go there every once and a while and they always have gluten free options. They have a marked and uncontaminated hot bar, gluten free sushi, gluten free pizza and burgers. A dedicated gluten free isle and more. If your near by a Wegmans you should definitely go try it out!
First off, Wegmans is VERY clear with all their warnings that they do not ensure gluten free due to potential contamination. Every staff member seemed to have the same phrase and signage is all over the place about "no gluten containing ingredients" but warning about allergens. I decided to take a chance at the Burger Bar and had a gluten free bun, telling them I had Celiac. It was delicious and they did seem knowledgeable. However, I did have a minor reaction after eating that I believe was cross contamination. Far from intense but definitely a minor glutening. I would not advise celiacs to eat here..I wanted to leave this review as the other current reviews are not Celiac.
The fryer from a prior reviewer stated a dedicated GF fryer was previously used. Staff members assured me that this is no longer the case.
I am reviewing the prepared section only at this time. They have an entire aisle of gluten free snacks and the half moon cookies in the bakery area are phenomenal. I would avoid the prepared areas though.
Good sized gluten free section and other areas are generally labeled
Tons of gluten free options including pizza, burgers, sushi, subs, wings, etc.
This is my favorite chain to buy groceries at, large variety of gluten-free foods. There is a section in the baked goods, a large freezer section, an aisle that is full of gluten-free backing needs, and a hot section with gluten-free pizza and subs. This is overall a great place to shop for anyone who is gluten-free.
Birthday Cake was amazing butter cream icing, and whipped icing.
Get Sushi here all the time. All GF. They mark GF meals with a sticker to indicate it doesn't contain Gluten or list it at the top of the ingredients list.
i came to the market cafe for dinner and was happy to find that the deli counter now carries gluten free sub rolls. they are kept frozen and in a separate bag, toasted on a piece of parchment paper in the oven (shared with other sandwiches). the server cleaned off the counterspace for me and changed their gloves. i recommend avoiding any condiments that aren't in a bottle; i forgot to ask if they could use a different knife and mayonnaise container for my sandwich. generally a pleasant experience!
The gf sushi is awesome! So happy to finally have gf sushi options
Lots of options for groceries. Sometimes they sell out, but it is our go-to place for supplies. We like some of the wegmans brand food too.
I got a hoagie from the sandwich counter at wegmans. I ordered a gluten sandwich for my mother in law. I then told him I needed a gluten free roll. He took off his gloves, washed his hands, cleaned the area and made my sandwich on the paper he wrapped it in. It was delicious, a really good hoagie. Only $8.50
