Gluten-Free at Tavern in the Square

Default spot when visiting family in the area. Excellent atmosphere, busy but not untenable. I’m boring, get the gf chicken nachos and the gf mesquite chicken bowl almost every time because it’s so damn good and I know doesn’t negatively affect me. I’d stay away from the gf boneless bang-bang wings, idk what the deal is but I’ve been sick twice after consuming them thinking the first time was a fluke. Staff knowledge is more often good than not, though luck of the draw. Every item is market on the menu, comes with a gluten free marker from the manager. I asked about their gf pasta dish and was told it’s all cooked in the same boiling pots which doesn’t seem right to me but ruled out any pasta dish as a celiac.

This is our fave spot for GF and celiac safe dinner as a family. The staff always takes it very seriously and we never get sick. The GF fried pickles are the best!

Really great food here!!! All of the reviews made us feel very safe eating here but the manager also brings out the gf food along with the allergy picks inside each dish! Honestly felt like we were at 110 grill with a better menu. Best gluten free food I’ve had in awhile, highly recommend!!!!

My daughter and I went to lunch for the first time since her celiac diagnosis. We are pleased to find so many things on the menu that are gluten free. My daughter was able to order chicken tenders, and we just said that she had a wheat allergy and that it needed to be gluten free. When our food was done it had a stick in it that said allergy and the chef brought it out. So I would say that our experience was very good!

This is the second time I’ve been here, the first was 5 years ago. Nothing has changed; food quality is Amazing, service was perfect & lots of choices. All fryers are gf. A MUST if you’re gf, I highly recommend. No issues for me either time and I’m super sensitive!

Went here with my friend who has celiacs! I’m just gluten intolerant but very sensitive. We ordered the fried goat cheese, pickle chips, french fries and I got a burger in the gf bun. Everything was SO GOOD. Made in dedicated fryers and came out separately with labels. Neither of us had issues after the meal. 10/10 plan on coming back here!

Wonderful place with a lot of great GF comfort food options. I enjoyed the crispy broccoli starter and a delightful, delicious salad for lunch. They asked if I had an allergy and when serving they used an allergy stamped toothpick to decipher my food from the rest of the table. Highly recommend!

This restaurant is one of the best around me for GF. It's up there with Burtans, Tavolinos, The Neighborhood Tavern, and Arturos (some other reccomendations around here). I order chicken tenders usually, but they have burgers, pizza, sandwiches, salads, and other foods. I ordered the Mac n cheese with crispy chicken today. I wouldn't recommend, because I didn't love it, but still good, and everything is flagged GF. Amazing resturaunt!

I was just diagnosed with celiac disease two weeks ago and Tavern In The Square was my first time eating out since then, and it set the bar super high for future dining experiences. From huge gluten free accommodations, separate fryers, and double checking each gluten free order before serving, I did not experience any cross contact with gluten. On top of this, the food was absolutely incredible and the service was wonderful. If you are in the area, I can’t recommend Tavern In The Square enough!!

Incredible amount of gluten free options here! Just about everything on the menu can be made gluten free including fried foods. I got the gluten free fried pickles with the gluten free fried chicken tenders! They both were delicious and came out with allergen flags. The member of my party that is not gluten free received her meal first and our gluten free food was given second as to avoid cross contamination. The precautions taken here are incredible and I felt very safe eating here!

I highly recommend Tavern in the Square! I recently visited the one in Cranston RI (they have locations in MA and CT too). I ordered the gf fish and chips, which is crusted in potato chips. I was skeptical but at the server's enthusiastic recommend I ordered it. I asked for it without coleslaw and tartar sauce, and upgraded to sweet potato fries. It was excellent! So crispy and tasty. HUGE portion of fish! The server was very knowledgeable about allergies, my meal was marked with an allergy pick, and noted on the receipt. They put nothing with gluten in their fryers. I felt very safe and had no issues. Super impressed with every aspect!

It’s so exciting to come to a restaurant and have the majority of the menu able to be made gluten free. I had the General Tso’s chicken and it was amazing! I have been to this one almost weekly since they opened, and have had great experiences here. They have a dedicated fryer and would recommend their fried foods in particular.
