Thank you, Shane’s, for training your employees to provide safe meals for Celiacs. Our toddler was able to enjoy baked beans, coleslaw, chicken and ribs while we were on vacation down there.
I’m a newly diagnosed celiac and it makes me nervous/feel awful to ask a restaurant to change their gloves or ask if something is gluten free. Shane’s Rib Shack has a dedicated menu for gluten sensitivity as well as celiacs. The menu is small, but over at this location, the surrounding area is pretty much impossible to find a gluten free option. The cashier was very sweet and attentive to my needs and informed me that when the food came out, they prepared it on a separate station and had their cook change his gloves. They were fantastic and I couldn’t recommend this place enough! I had the pulled pork salad with blue cheese dressing and it was very tasty.
We ate here with my toddler who has Celiac while we were in town visiting my in laws. We have had Shane’s before in other larger cities and I know they are pretty legitimate when it comes to gluten free options. They are aware at the cooperate level and I think they train their employees pretty well. Even if the employees may not understand celiac, at least they have text book procedures that the cooks abide by. We ordered the half smoked chicken with coleslaw and salad. The menu didn’t list which dressings were gluten free so I asked them just to use one that was, our daughter is not picky about what kind. When they brought her food out, it had the Texas toast on top of it (after I had ordered off the gluten free menu and made a point to mention “no toast of course”). The waitress quickly and without hesitation took it back and they completely replaced her chicken. She was very sweet and very apologetic and said the cook was also. So I think the confusion came down the the cashier, she must not have marked it as a gluten free order. I’m not positive, however, she didn’t seem to really understand gluten free when I was talking to her. However, they were slammed (Sunday after church!), and everyone was very nice, and my daughter had a delicious meal and did not get sick one bit, so I feel safe feeding her there and we will be back.
Great GF BBQ menu! My 12 year old claimed their ribs “the best ribs I’ve ever had”. Service was very knowledgeable and served individually packed bbq sauces with the meal so as not to cross contaminate. Were careful with the sides served as well. Our sides arrived with our meal in covered dishes versus the non gf people at our table whose were not separated nor covered. Food and service was great! Would definitely go back.
Shane's has always been a good option and chain to go to when we are traveling. My salad was good and came out GF and I had no issues. But wish I could give this Shane's a 3.5 stars for its service and cleanliness. Service was terrible - I think only one staff member cared about her place of employment (she was cleaning, picking up and talking to customers), the rest were just useless in my mind. Just stood there and acted as if you were bothering them to give your order. This was by far the dirtiest Shane's I have ever been too. Corporate you need to come check this branch out. I will avoid this one in the future and only return as a last resort.
After having to leave another restaurant due to false info about GF availability, I called Shane’s before we wasted more of our time! Shane’s DOES HAVE A GF menu, it’s simple but still a good amount of options to actually enjoy a REAL TASTY MEAL OUT! And didn’t seem to suffer any gluten symptoms after!👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
I verified that everything I ordered was part of the gluten free menu and stressed the “no toast” but spent the entire night sick. I haven’t had a reaction this bad for a long time, so it could have been more than just gluten.
I’ve eaten at three different Shane’s and have never had any issues. GF menu is readily available; simply tell the cashier it’s a GF order and it goes right into the computer, thereby eliminating the bread from the plate. Shane’s is my go-to place for BBQ!
Great food! They have a separate gluten free menu that shows options on the main menu but clearly lists what is gluten free. Cashier designated as gluten free in the register and went back and told cooks of my gluten allergy. Brought my food out separate to ensure no cross contamination. Only downside was my husbands food took longer to come out but I believe it took longer because he ordered grilled chicken tenders. Great quick serve restaurant that is definitely cautious about food being gluten free. Seems to be celiac friendly...I felt comfortable eating here because of the above mentioned things. It has been almost 24 hours and no signs of eating gluten for me.
Great BBQ and service. GF menu, limited, but filling. Have had pulled pork, coleslaw, and baked beans probably 15 times for lunch and have never been sick. Just to be safe, I tell them no toast even though they have a button on the register for GF.
Friendly staff, delicious food. Waitress had never had a celiac order before but the kitchen knew what to do. Second time here and the cashier assured me my food would be made separate from the glutens and even came to our table to check on me several times. So friendly, so wonderful.
Let them know you are gluten free. They put it into register and also go back to confirm with the kitchen. They bring food out separately. I’ve never had an issue and food is delicious! Now, if they would just dedicate a fryer!
ate there several times now with no issues. They told me the BBQ sauces are gluten free. I only ate BBQ meat and slaw, so not sure on fries, ect. No gluten free buns but I don't like my BBQ on bread anyway. Very good BBQ place!
My family eats here regularly, and I have never gotten sick. They have many tasty food choices on their gluten free menu and a dedicated prep area to avoid cross contamination. Celiac friendly and the managers and staff have always been accommodating. Highly recommended!!!
They have a gluten free menu and even list their gluten free sauces (yummy). Notified them of allergy when ordering, they red flagged it for kitchen and confirmed when they brought to table. No issues here!
Not our typical experience at Shane's. Unfortunately, the employees were CLUELESS - nice, but clueless. They put our daughter's side order of macaroni and cheese on the plate with my celiac husband's food. They reprepared the food, he ate a small amount and had stomach pains within minutes. I'll be contacting corporate. :(
This is a great place for BBQ. Ask for the GF menu and you order at the counter. Tell them about Celiac. They change gloves etc. The owner/manager is Kirk and he is very nice and approachable. We will be back when in the area.
