Amazing food and excellent with all allergies! Would highly recommend! I’ve visited a few times all wonderful - from a good variety of appetizers to mains. Truffle fries to die for!! Salt and pepper wings also tasty! This made possible due to having a dedicated gf fryer. Recently had the steak and it was excellent!!
Coming from the lower mainland where there is a cactus club on every corner, this would not usually be my first restaurant choice. However the Vernon location is amazing!! They handle celiac disease so well. If you dine in person, a manager handles your order to ensure safety. If you order take out, everything is packaged separately and labeled gluten free all over. They have a gluten free deep fryer and I love their truffle fries, chicken wings and their crispy chicken/pickles. The famous bellini’s are gluten free. Have made many orders with no issues.
Called ahead - assured me of safety, stated they took allergies very seriously, noted separate fryer and flagged my reservation. ‘Gluten-safe’ options noted on menu but included disclaimer about cross-contact. What the waiter didn’t know, he asked a manager. A manager also brought out my food with ‘care and attention’ to my allergy.
Our server Sophia was excellent and checked and double checked that our zen rolls and my cheeseburger were fully gluten free. This location has a dedicated fryer, so fries and the taro curls on top of the zen rolls were perfectly safe. She brought gf Tamari for dipping. Another great experience!
Phenomenal service, extremely knowledgeable staff, had a separate staff bring my food and confirm all the information about the ingredients and how it was made. Dedicated fryer and sauces for gluten free options. Checked on multiple times and did everything possible to prevent cross contamination
Went to Cactus Club for lunch and had the best gluten free meal! They have a new Hot Chicken and pickle appetizer that is fully GF and absolutely phenomenal! I also had the the shrimp lemongrass rice noodle salad that was epic! The server took the time to go through all ingredients as requested to ensure it’s gluten free safety. 10/10 worth the price, great service and will go again!
We aren’t here on 10th August for a birthday and I was really impressed. As a sensitive coeliac who also can’t have dairy, I had lots of choices and the waiter was knowledgeable about cross contamination. He checked everything with the chef before confirming the order so I felt safe. I had GF fried chicken and pickles, and chimichurri steak with fries which were both amazing! They had a separate fryer and I had no reaction.
Good food, they seemed knowledgeable, lots of options.
Love cactus club. Never gotten sick, as a person with symptomatic celiac, it’s a favourite staple restaurant. One downfall is no gluten free desserts, yet… but the menu changes and grows and even brings back old favourites from time to time. The downtown location now has a dedicated deep fryer which is awesome š. Oh and they can cook an excellent steak. This was the first restaurant after being diagnosed that had the manager serve my meal, to limit cross contamination.
The staff here are super helpful. They have an iPad that alerts them to possible cross contamination. I had ordered a drink and wanted to clarify no cross contact. The manager came over and advised they could make a margarita for me from in house materials / clean all surfaces in the bar first. (They couldn’t confirm no cross contact from some of the materials brought in for the drinks). I felt super taken care of and the margarita was delicious! The lemongrass chicken noodle salad is amazing. The peanuts “may contain” so just leave them off for no possible cross contamination. No dedicated fryer but they mentioned they could bake the fries instead to avoid cross contamination. Amazing experience. ā¤
They do not have a GF fryer. It's gluten 'friendly'. Everything is Gluten Friendly. Server didn't seem to know exactly what you can and cannot have. They have allergen menu online and it's all 'gluten smart' BUT their gluten smart is still by using the non gluten free fryer.
Cactus club on broadway & ash is a go-to and frequent spot for me for business lunches. Location is why I chose it the first time- clear (though limited) gf choices are why I come back. Couple of notes about this location- the managers seem knowledgeable and when you get to know a dish, it’s pretty consistent across locations. This location has had a number of celiac staff- which is how I’ve picked some of my favourite menu items. Always ask to have it confirmed gf as some ingredients may change. No gluten free fryer, all the normal disclaimers about a shared kitchen. It fairly safe if you are proactive in your ordering.
Went here for my birthday dinner and the staff was so accommodating! We were seated on the rooftop which has a different menu than their main dining room (much smaller). I wanted the lemongrass noodle salad since I've had that before and didn't have a reaction and my server put the order in for the downstairs kitchen. It was delivered by a manager as well and they restated my accomodation (celiac) and confirmed the kitchen changes gloves. They also gave me a creme brulee for dessert with a "happy birthday" on it, and the server once again confirmed it was 100% gluten free and didn't come into contact with anything. Overall a great experience!!
I have pre-ordered take out for lunch.
I am so pleasantly surprised by the seriousness and the care taken with my order.
I have been advised there is a separate GF fryer.
I initially pre-ordered a Zen Roll and then the restaurant proceeded to call me twice afterwards triple checking if I am ok with certain items.
In the end I wasn't able to have a Zen Roll which is fine and ordered the med bowl.
The food was delicious and I was confident that what I was eating was safe.
My take out box also had a big red allergy sticker on it for awareness.
I’ve ate at this location a number of times, ordering the med bowl three times. Each time the server let me know they had a new separate dedicated fryer, it’s been safe for 2/3 times (I’m a later in life diagnosis and currently extremely sensitive)! Not the biggest GF menu, but appreciate the efforts.
A great spot for gluten free food. Since they’re a chain, you can easily find allergen information. This location is big and spacious as well! They have a good understanding of gluten “allergies.” My favourite dishes are the hot chicken and pickles (made in a separate fryer) and the zen sushi rolls.
Really great staff, went and checked all the ingredients of the tofu bowl, there was a may contain on one sauce, I risked it because it seemed really unlikely to be an issue but could have gotten something else and it was reassuring that they'd tell me. Separate fryer!
My wife and I had appetizers there this afternoon. We had a good conversation with the waiter about my wife’s Celiac and how there cannot be any cross contamination. She had an iced tea and the truffle fries, which we were reassured were completely safe. Unfortunately, my wife got sick about an hour after we finished.
Been here three times the past few weeks.
Servers all were knowledgeable about the restaurants protocols for food allergies / Celiac. All ingredient were checked against a list for May Contain or cross contamination. Manager delivered food every time.
I’ve had the Cheese Burger sub with a GF Bun. It didn’t crumble!
Truffle fries are really good too.
Next time I’m going to try the Chicken and Deep Fried Pickles.
Went for a friend’s birthday celebration and was expecting nothing safe. Was surprised and happy to hear that they take food allergies and Celiac disease very seriously. Have a separate prep area, food delivered by a manager.
Server asked if I was ok with “May Contains” or cross contact. I told her no and she said she had to look up all the ingredients in what I ordered. She pulled up a spreadsheet and checked every ingredient individually and noted what I could not have. Made suggestions for substitutions and put in my order with a Gluten Allergy/ Celiac flag. She was very knowledgeable about the restaurants protocols and assured me she understood the importance of communicating my needs to the kitchen.
After my order was placed a manager came by to reassure me.
My meal was great and I had no issues afterwards.
I ordered the Med Bowl with Chicken and Falafel cooked I the dedicated fryer.
Delicious and staff were knowledgeable about cross contamination and seemed to take it seriously. I ordered one of the items marked gluten free and told them I’m celiac and the server came back to say that the sesame seeds used in that item had a “may contain” statement and since they were mixed in the chef didn’t recommend it for celiac. I really appreciated this and it made me feel safe knowing that they were taking that level of due diligence with my order. I ordered a different item and it was so good I came back once more while I was in town!
My husband used to work there so here’s some bts: They are intense about food allergies, take them so seriously! Dedicated fryers, separate stations in the kitchen for prepping allergy items, have lists of ingredients on all items that they can check! And plus, the food is consistently delicious. He always always feel safe eating there!
