I’ve had great experiences with 1000 Degree lately!! I get the 10” four cheese pizza on the gluten free crust. I make sure to specify that I have celiac disease and they are good about changing gloves and using new utensils. I would still double check with whoever is working that day, since it does seem to be within the last year that they have gotten a lot more knowledgeable about cross contamination. I tried going here a year and a half ago and my experience was quite different, so still double check if you go in. Lately though, all staff seem to know how to prevent cross contamination with gluten and the food is really good!! There is no gluten free menu and to be honest, I have heard different answers as to what toppings are and are not gluten free in regards to meat options, so I play it safe with topping choices they can easily get from the back. They use a tray in the oven to keep the crust separate and a new pizza cutter to slice the pizza. A good option for pizza!
Don’t order online! Also the Italian sausage isn’t gluten free. I tried to order a pizza online to pick up. I was told when I got there that their sausage isn’t gluten free. When they went to remake me another pizza they used the sauce in the front and those ingredients. They were frustrated when I asked them to remake it again with ingredients from the back. I didn’t get sick and they did use foil and a clean pizza cutter in the end. Was frustrating that they weren’t being safe with the gluten feee crust. I even put “gluten allergy” in the comments when ordering online. Pizza wasn’t great better to go to pizza ranch in the same town instead for a better pizza.
Great pizza, they changed gloves and took precautions against cross contamination. Very pleasant, helpful staff. Six Stars!
First and last time customers. We had an awful experience. We had called a head to insure they had gluten free crust available and were they did. So went and ordered our pizzas. The manager waited until after we had ordered (listing to us order BTW) and let us sit and wait for a while with hungry young children and myself being super Pregnant… it’s hard work getting young hungry children all set up when your a week away from your due date. Finally getting everything all set up and being able to sit and wait a wait for some time only for him only to come over and tell us that they don’t have any gluten free crusts and that the pasta is not safe because they boil the gluten free pasta in the same pot as the regular pasta… What?!? How can you even offer gluten free pasta if you don’t have a designated pot? The entire experience was pretty darn awful. I have no idea what the pint of calling a head was. We still left hungry with screaming kids. Never again…
Cauliflower crust pizza and salad were delicious!
I've eaten here before and after my Celiac diagnosis. The pizzas have been delicious every time!
My first time GF (tonight), I walked up to the register, and ordered the gluten-free, 10-inch cauliflower crust build-your-own pizza. In the same sentence, I mentioned, "with the changing of the gloves, and... " and I didn't even get to finish my sentence. The cashier was nodding in understanding. She yelled over to the gentleman making the pizzas about the upcoming cauliflower crust needing the safety measures. He nodded in acknowledgement, looked directly at me, and started rattling off all the things he'd be sure to be careful of.
Yay! Easy as pie. :D
The GF crust: I don't care for "thin crust" pizzas, but now I don't have much choice in the matter--I take whatever GF options they have. This cauliflower crust actually tasted really good! Still not my preferred thickness, but it was quite flavorful for a crust, so I'm ok with it. Will definitely eat here again! I almost wonder if they'll double-up on the crust for me the next time...
Online it is dedicated kitchen space for GF. Not so here. They changed gloves. Got a clean and different pan from the kitchen, but it is the same toppings and oven as other pizzas go in. Taste was good.
Staff looked to be 14-18 years old and when asked about GF, gave bank stares and had to talk to 1-3 other employees to decide what was and was not gluten free, then gave no guarantees. Miraculously, I didn't get sick, but the amount of time we had to wait for our food and the quality of the food weren't worth the risk and the price. Not going back.
Very good Gluten free pizza.
Can order just about any pizza gluten free. Quick ordering and don’t have to wait long. They asked if it was a choice eating gluten free or an allergy (which I appreciated). They asked proper questions to reduce CC and one person prepared it to reduce the risk of CC. Pizza was awesome tasting and we will definitely be back!!
Very positive experience here. I became a frequent customer. On Tuesday, you can get a discount by using the code "Tuesday" when you order online. They are very careful about gluten allergies, cleaning workstations and changing gloves. It is a shared workspace so if you are celiac, probably wise to order in person to guarantee all of the necessary precautions are taken. They know me so I just order online and haven't had any problems (but, I'm also not a celiac so...) Just tell them and they'll take care of you đ They're very helpful and friendly. They have vegan cheese which is great for those of us who are lactose intolerant too. Pizza is good and can be customized any way you like it. Love this restaurant!
Went there for my son's birthday the staff was friendly the food was amaozng . The gluten free pizza was not just a thin crust but a wonderful pizza loaded with toppings. It's brick oven made to order and amazing
Love this place, custom made for a good price!
Got a personal gluten free crust. It was excellent and didn’t bloat me at all!
I am intolerant to gluten and dairy. I have been multiple times with no issues! Great experience every time and everyone there is always friendly! They change gloves, crust is on a separate tray, and they clean the oven before putting in the pizza.
The staff were super helpful. They informed me that cross contamination was still possible but they would do their best to make sure I was taken care of. It went on a different screen and they put on new gloves. They also informed me about toppings that weren’t gluten free. Lastly they held putting my wife’s non gluten order in so they would come out at the same time since it takes longer for the gluten crust to cook.
Thanks 1000 Degrees!
Good pizza and good GF options. One of the few “design your own” pizza places that takes cross-contamination precautions. They cook the crust on foil, change gloves and use a dedicated pizza cutter. There is always a risk of cross-contamination with a pizza place but I have Celiac and have never gotten sick here. (Unlike Mod which blatantly cross-contaminates their GF crusts.) I always get pesto instead of pizza sauce just to be on the safe side since they spread the regular pizza sauce with the ladle. You could probably ask for fresh stuff from the back if you really wanted the tomato sauce. It takes them a few extra minutes to pre-bake the GF crust because it takes longer than the regular ones but I just have them write down what I want on it, pay and have them bring it out. My go-to for carry out GF pizza in Sugar Land.
They offer a gluten free in a 10 inch, which is the perfect size for one person (or two)! They make sure there is no cross contamination! I’ve never had a problem, very good crust and pizza!
I was so happy to find 1,000 degrees in Glastonbury, and meet Joseph and Jacqueline the owners. Their gluten free pizzas are amazing and they also offer salad and even beer choices. Not a dedicated kitchen but I had no side effects at all. Highly recommend!
Amazing! Food, service, and preparation. Thank you!!!
Staff asked if my gluten free order was a preference or for medical reasons. They cleaned the counter top, changed gloves and laid foil down before setting my GF crust on it. But... they didn’t have a separate sauce container and ladle for GF. So since I ordered my kids a regular pizza and my own GF, I watched them use the same ladle to smear the same sauce around the regular crust and then again on my GF crust. They should really just have a separate small container with its own ladle to keep it free from cross contamination. The toppings were also all pulled from the same containers (Subway style where they make it to your order) so there is another chance of CC there. They seemed to take precautions to avoid CC when they cooked the pizza. I ate it and didn’t experience any glutening symptoms. The pizza was good, but not amazing. I thought they were skimpy on the toppings. They could make a few minor modifications to their prep procedures/training and this would be safer for Celiacs.
Fabulous 10” Neapolitan pizza crust with a “normal” pizza crust texture. No cardboard crust here! Wings and salads can also be done gluten free. Tell them if you have an allergy and they will take extra precautions.
Messy prep area with flour everywhere and double dipping in toppings the day we visited. We left and had them cancel our order. If you are eating gluten free for health reasons and not as I diet choice, I would avoid based on our experience and high probability of cross contamination.
I have suspected celiacs or a gluten allergy that cannot be confirmed. I have only been to this location, but I have never been disappointed or had an issue with the 6 times I have been here over the past year. Have gluten free pizza crust and most toppings are gluten free. Staff is very knowledgeable about cross contamination and grab fresh ingredients from the back and have a dedicated pizza cutter. The owner has a true passion for quality in his food gluten free and non gluten free.
Will return again and again. My favorites are the garlic cheese bread and anything with the pesto sauce on it.
Let them know right away that you’ll be ordering gluten free since they need to precook the crust a bit before adding the toppings. You’ll have to request that they take the extra steps to use new sauce from the back, change gloves and use a clean cutter etc.
The selection Of toppings was very good. Staff was friendly and it was fairly quick. The pizza was pretty good not great. If you are Celiac you should be cautious here.
They took great precaution to avoid cross contamination and asked if it was an allergy or preference for gluten free. Never got sick and the pizza is delicious!
Staff cooked wood fire pizza on an individual pan and used a separate pizza cutter to avoid cross contamination.
Manager was very patient and explained how they could only try to reduce cross contamination. But as another reviewer mentioned, the sauce is clearly contaminated as the ladlle touches the dough as it is being applied. Perhaps if you just get oil or maybe ranch dressing (not sure if it is in a bottle) you would be ok. But the manager also discouraged me from getting a salad as he said there could be cross contamination, since those ingredients are the same as are used on the pizza.
I went to Chipotle (in the same plaza) instead, although honestly I don't know if they are much better. At least the gluten is limited to the tortillas there.
Staff is coached on washing hands and changing gloves but the sauce and cheese and other toppings are pulled from the same containers as the regular pizzas (sauce is dipped and spread with the same utensil...completely contaminated). There was no dedicated prep area either. Pizza was probably delicious but I'm fairly certain I would have been terribly ill after. Unfortunately not Celiac safe.
