From their allergen list: We have worked diligently to remove wheat gluten from all our sauces, dressings, and proteins. Natural glutens remain only in our flour and wheat tortillas and in two desserts--tres leches and key lime pie. This means that we offer "oceans of gluten-free options" in our menu. All of these items are gluten-free: all enchiladas, all tacos, all salads (without the flour or wheat tortilla), all nachos, and our chicken tortilla so up...which uses corn strips.
Pretty good. They seemed to understand the allergy protocol. I didn’t get sick

I enjoy getting Costa vida on occasion this location does a good job. They take precautions to avoid cross contamination and I really like the sweet pork salad.

Staff was kind and knowledgeable. Changed gloves and washed their hands without being told. They also let us “tweak” the side of chips to have melted cheese instead of having to order a huge order of nachos for a child.

Server immediately changed gloves and washed hands when I mentioned a gluten allergy, in addition, he pulled my tray from the back and used the serving counter in the back to prevent cc, and walked my tray himself through the rest of line, communicating with other team members that he had an allergy order. Very impressed with how he handled everything! Everything is gf except for the flour tortillas.

Not safe at all about cc, gf tortillas and gluten tortillas are cooked on the same surface, topings are cc. Wouldn't eat here if your a celiac or rly sensitive to cc, but they do have "gf" options for the less sensitive.

This location needs more training about cross contamination. Yes, she changed her gloves when I asked for a gluten free meal, but then she came back to the line and put her gloved hand down on the flour tortillas!

My husband and I will drive the extra few minutes to specifically cone to this location over another one slightly closer to our home. The staff here are kind and professional and the level of service has never been lacking. The food is delicious and we've never gotten sick or had a bad experience here.
For those with Celiac or who are highly sensitive to gluten, I do not recommend the corn tortillas as, while they do not contain any gluten themselves, they are cooked on the same surface as the wheat-flour tortillas. I personally always opt for the baja bowl and haven't had any issues at this location.
On Costa Vida's website, their Nutrition Calculator page also has an allergen filter (and an itemized Allergen Info section below it) that can filter for the following allergens and dietary preferences:
· Dairy
· Eggs
· Gluten
· Nuts
· Preservatives
· Soy
· Sugar
· Vegan
· Vegetarian
Additionally, they note that their "hot items are prepared with low sodium".

Told them I had an allergy to gluten, they washed hands and changed gloves. They did a good job. The only issue I had is when they were refilling the lettuce on the line, they used their potentially contaminated gloves to do so…

I saw that they had good ratings and wanted to try a new place for dinner last night. It was a decision I regretted. When I asked about gluten free options the staff somewhat knew what was gluten free, but then would second guess their answers. The food was not good at all. I got the chicken tacos with the corn tortilla and extra side of rice. The chicken was dry and burnt. The rice was cold and didn’t taste good. Lastly, the corn tortilla was semi okay. The only good thing was the key lime pie. That tasted more like a cheesecake than key lime. After eating the food I felt sick and threw up. I do not recommend this place even though you see good reviews.

I have Celiac and they were fantastic. They made notes to the chef in my order and the food was perfectly GF. They are 99% GF to begin with, so it only takes a bit of extra work to accommodate. I’d like to also add that I was with a huge group and they handled my needs perfectly.

Our first visit and when I asked about the chips being gluten free they were so knowledgeable and kind. Even though all their chips are gluten free they keep the gf chips in a different drawer to prevent cross contamination from dirty gloves, smart! They also have corn tortillas which is great to have options. I had nachos and my little one had tacos.
The staff was great, helpful, anf upbeat. They knew what they were doing. They communicated our gf status with those finishing the order to keep is safe. Tons of gf options. You can find the gluten status of all items in the nutrition menu on the website

When I asked for a corn tortilla, the worker asked if I was gluten free. When I said yes, she went and washed her hands, changed her gloves, and didn't touch anything but my food the entire time she was preparing it, even when a co-worker asked for her help. The worker was attentive and very helpful, making sure that I knew what was gluten-free and what wasn't when I was choosing what went on my salad. I ordered the Raspberry Chipotle Chicken Salad and requested mango salsa rather than dressing (just a personal preference). It was delicious and I didn't get sick!!!

One of my favorite Mexican places. This specific location is a really good one and they are very careful about cross contamination (changing gloves, dedicated equipment, etc) however, I have had poor experiences in the past at other locations, so beware.

I have eaten here many times and have gotten sick everytime. Cross contamination happens all the time and they don’t seem to be as well trained here as other Costa Vidas I have been to. Spoons touch the tortillas and then go back in the food.

I've been to this location many times, and had not had problems. I usually order online and pickup in the early afternoon. This last time I came later in the day. The first worker washed hands and changed gloves, but the second did not. The line did seem a bit messy, which always makes me nervous, but I wrongly assumed it would be fine since nearly all of their food is gluten free.
This time I got the baja bowl. Not sure exactly what caused it but I got glutened bad. Worst pain I've had since going off gluten. 😞 It's the only thing I ate that day and I started getting sick within half an hour of eating so I'm certain it was this.

I used to live it here, but for the past few years I have been consistently disappointed. The servers cross contaminate everything by rubbing the spoons and tongs around on the tortillas. I hoped I could get past this by asking if it would be possible to scoop from a fresh pot, but they just dumped the same food into a fresh pot. I won't be going here again.

Great experience! First spoke to girl at register and she already knew about gluten and said yes they know how to handle "gluten allergy". So i went to the guy at the counter and just said i have 2 orders and both have a gluten allergy. He immediately changed his gloves without being asked. After confirming what i wanted, he asked if i was okay with it going through the oven. He was careful not to let the chips touch anything, and also laid one special green chip on top -- i assume this must be their code for gluten allergy. Then when it went to the next lady, same thing, i said gluten allergy and she changed her gloves and was very careful. Both of us have celiac and both felt fine afterward! And it was delicious!

I am changing my review. The last few times I’ve eaten here I haven’t felt so great, I thought maybe it was just too spicy. I tested some leftovers after feeling bad for hours and sure enough, gluten was found.

We enjoyed this restaurant. We had the grilled chicken nachos without any upset. The fresh pico was great. Queso also very good. The staff was somewhat knowledgeable about celiac. They do make fresh tortillas here but everything else is GF. No other fried food in the fryers but chips (I think). Maybe some risk of contamination as they are making tortillas from scratch, but we did not get sick.

I’m newly diagnosed and not highly sensitive, so I can’t say for sure whether or not I was glutoned here; however, this place had plenty of GF options and from one I read online had gone through the process of making sure that everything except the flour tortillas are GF. If you order online, the tortilla options for the enchiladas are “flour, corn or corn (gluten friendly).” There’s also a check-box that says “make my meal gluten-friendly.” I’m passing through town and was happy to find a place where I felt comfortable ordering food. The enchiladas were quite tasty, too.
