DO NOT EAT HERE if you cannot handle cross contamination.
They can make on a different line but use the same oven for everything. I was also grossed out watching them load the pizzas. They use the same gloves and no scoops to put the meat, veggies, and even for sprinkling oregano.
They do not change gloves. They put your pizza in with other non-gluten free pizzas. They also do not change out tools when making your pizza. There is gluten free options here, however they do not take an allergy seriously. I am thankfully just intolerant but if you have celiac STAY AWAY. Every time I have eaten here I’m in pain and I just realized it was 100 percent them and nothing else! BE CAREFUL!!!
As far as food it’s great. They will typically change gloves/aprons when you order gf and will wipe the prep station. As for the attitude of the employees at this location… not so much. Complained and made fun of me and seemed like I was a burden for being there and asking for these things. I’ve never had an issue with this blaze or any other location before today but today was over the top in a negative experience.
They cook gluten free pizzas on little mats instead of putting the pizzas directly in the oven (which is how they cook gluten pizzas). The food is good. They always ask if I need them to change their gloves before making my food, and they’ll use a separate pizza slicer to slice the pizza. They also prepare and cook the pizza right in front of you, so you can keep an eye on it.
Many GF options. I’d rather pay for a GF BYO pizza here than a frozen GF pizza for the same price + less fresh toppings. They remade my pizza, saying there was a CC issue and I really appreciated the honesty and willingness to restart for my safety. 10/10 would recommend GF pizza from here. It was delicious!
Obviously it depends who is working and their understanding of gluten but I’ve seen a big improvement in handling GF items at this location. I’ve had great and not-so-great experiences at different Blaze locations and this one hasn’t always been the best. I decided to try it again today and I was pleased. This was the first time I’ve seen them clean the oven before putting my son’s pizza in. They changed their gloves, got ingredients from the back without me having to ask, and put his pizza on one side of the oven, alone. He did not get sick after eating here.
Avoid. This is a cross contamination nightmare. Employee (who appeared to be the manager) grabbed the gf crust without changing gloves. There was flour all over the counter. All ingredients were in common containers (no separate ones for gf). The pizza was impossible to eat as it wasn’t cooked through. While the flavor was fine, the texture was some of the worst I’ve had. I expressed concern to the manager, but he didn’t seem to understand what the issue was. Hopefully they fix the issues they have, because we’ve had gf Blaze pizza at other locations with no problems. Until then, we will not come back.
I started coming here because they were knowledgeable about GF allergies. They would mark it on the order, change gloves, use a separate container of sauce with a clean brush and the rest of ingredients were sprinkled from above. Also they use a separate mat in the oven. However, after a number of years of going they apparently are not training Staff the way they were before. I had to request each of things I mention above and verify that they were not used elsewhere. I am aware I am taking a risk eating here but this far these precautions have served me well. But now, but I am not sure it is worth the risk now that their prices went up substantially And they aren’t training Staff. Very sad.
I do NOT recommend this as an option for people with Celiac. The crush is horrible, it literally tastes and looks like card board. They also cook everything in the same oven. There is no change in utensils, no separation in cooking spaces, and no glove changes. All the ingredients are together as well. Also, the staff was incredibly rude to me when I said I had an allergy. Will never go back here.
A celiac nightmare! Employees do not know about gluten free safety protocols. I asked for a refund and left hungry.
Very knowledgeable staff on GF. They changed their gloves and used separate utensils for GF sauces and ingredients. The GF pizza was put on a designated pan to bake. The pizza was cooked perfectly and was delicious! I was very happy that they had a large variety of toppings to choose from as well. I just wish we had a Blaze Pizza back home so we can enjoy GF pizza more often!
Just went here the other day and they were super well versed on cross contamination. Got a new bucket of sauce and cheese specifically for my pizza and when putting it in the oven it was on a tray so it didn’t touch the bottom of the oven. Pizza is overall pretty good, definitely crispy but it’s safe and one of the better places to get gluten free in the area.
My daughter has celiacs. The pizza is really good here and they took extra efforts to keep her pizza separate and safer. They want to take care of you, you just need to ask . It’s more gluten friendly than most. She ordered the gf pizza - they have a silicone tray that they cook the pizza on. The toppings didn’t have a separate area, but the main ingredients did, they also will change out gloves upon request. Make sure you specify to use a clean cutter when ordering - if you don’t it won’t be done.
My daughter with Celiacs got a pepperoni pizza on a gluten free crust. We alerted the person who took our order that it was a gluten allergy. They had dedicated sauce. They did get her cheese and pepperoni off the regular line. They put her pizza on a special mat to go into the pizza oven. She really enjoyed her pizza and did not get sick.
The food is soooo good and the people that work there are very kind. HOWEVER it’s literally impossible to avoid CC. The utensils for the sauces are put directly on the dough and then back into the sauce bin. The same gloves that are touching the dough are reaching into the toppings. I ate here and was glutened pretty badly but nobody to blame but myself. As much as I would love to eat here in the future it’s just not a place for someone with celiac and that’s okay.
Im sensitive to gluten and I've gone here a few times. As soon as you ask for gluten free they ask if its in alerget and make sure its marked and noted on the paper for the pizza. The people adding toppings change out their gloves and ask if new containers of ingredients are needed. This is one of the only pizza places I know I can safely go to.
We go here a lot, because it’s one of the best places we’ve found that is Super careful about no cross contamination!!
My daughter has Celiac, and because we go there so often, a lot of the people who work there know us and will change their gloves when they see us coming in. They have special mats for the gluten free crusts, as well as a separate sauce container and ladle. And they have a separate pizza cutter that they keep in a separate bin as well.
It’s also one of my daughter’s favorite gluten free pizza crusts! So win, win, win!!! :0)
Asked about allergy protocols and was impressed. Separate gloves, used ingredients from under counter, knew meatballs were not GF due to breadcrumbs. Understand the amount of flour around would make others sick, but we don't have a fully GF kitchen at home either.. Really yummy and would recommend again!
Not a good experience. After I told them I have a severe allergy, I watched them place my GF crust on a wooden holder covered in flour. When I asked them to redo it, one of the employees was annoyed. You need to be very careful here. Make sure you are watching them handle your pizza in the oven. They need to use separate tools to cut the pizza too. I had an upset stomach after the meal, but I’m not sure if it was a contamination.
The BEST gluten-free eating experience in the Fargo area! They have such a caring and patient staff that will make sure there's no cross-contamination for people with food allergies. They use new ingredients, have 2 gluten free crust options, dairy free cheese, and it's delicious! Can't recommend enough. (the picture looks a little cooked - but it's how I like it haha)
I Ordered a pizza with gluten free crust. The woman asked if it was due to an allergy. I said yes. She called out we have an allergy pizza and proceeded to write down all the items I wanted on my pizza. The crust was then passed down to another worker. This worker had just touched a regular pizza crust and then proceeded to grab my crust and start adding stuff to it. The worker who took my order told her no that is wrong and that it is an allergy pizza. She looked at her and said with a condensing tone “What kind of allergy”? I spoke up and said gluten allergy. She then looked at the other worker and said We’ll I am not taking my gloves off” and then just stood there. The worker who took my order finally called another girl over and said you need to make a new crust. The girl rolled her eyes and then proceeded to make another crust and brought it back to the same station. The person that took my order told her she would need to bring it to the back and put the toppings on from there. She once again rolled her eyes and proceeded to take my pizza to the back. She was in the back for about 15 minutes and finally came out with my pizza. She started to put it in the oven when another lady stepped in and said it needed to be put on a special pan. When I finally got my pizza the other people in my party had already finished their food. Honestly Blaze has always been one of my safe places to eat. Sadly there are not many places in the area that I can say that about. I have never had an issue before and I really hate to sound like a negative person because I am in the food business and know what that is like but today I felt more like a hindrance to these people rather than someone who is valued. I would gladly not have this allergy if I could choose but at the same time I do not care to patron a place where it doesn't seem that I am welcomed.
They offer a gluten-free crust, however, cross-contamination is a major issue period. My six-year-old daughter had the supposedly glue of free crust period there was cross-contamination at both the sauce and the oven. it seems like they don't understand gluten free precautions. She was vomiting within 2 hours. We made the staff clearly aware. I've gone back and subsequently explained to them what happened and what that means. Not sure they will change processes.
Good! They asked if it was an allergy and then used separate dough, a clean under mat (for in the oven too), and got new gloves. Seemed pretty good on contamination. They got the sauce from the end of the line (sauce used for dollop topping) in contrast to another review. They also have a gluten free menu/search on their website so you can check toppings/drizzles!
